I just finished the Camino de Santiago in Spain this past December, and this song along with "The Creator Has a Master Plan" were my prayers everytime I walked up hills and whenever I felt a bit downhearted. I am blessed to have found this song and wish many more would hear it with their ears as well as their hearts.

One of my favorite albums EVER...Jewels of Thought...even more than A Love Supreme or Kind of Blue...years years ago
saw Pharoah and Leon Thomas at The Great American Music Hall in SF and sat close to the stage...Mr. Thomas sat at our table and we shook his hand.!

  • @benefitsconsultingservices8718

I remember hearing this for the first time back in 1970 It stuck with me all these years. It was at that time I decided to play the saxophone. I wanted to feel that spiritual essence. This would be and still is my chosen method to express my spiritual side. I want to thank the jazz mobile workshop in NYC for teaching the theory to be able to do that,

Very lux, very sophisticated, expensive sounding. It makes me want to improve my hi-fi to appreciate the finer details.
Gilles Peterson from BBC Radio 6 introduced me to Pharoah Sanders about 20 years ago. When someone plays like this, I can tell that it is a craft. Pure excellence

Pharoah's evocative music has been an ongoing revelation for me since 1970. I was fortunate to catch his unique sound in different venues through the years, from Detroit to San Diego. Sadly, we've lost another jazz master, but Pharoah's profound musical legacy lives on. The journey continues....

Last year i went to Turkey and upon seeing the roof of the interior of the Blue Mosque, i had a personal revelation. First, that the interior of the building was the most breathtakingly beautiful one i had ever seen. It literally brought me to tears. Then, my 2nd thought was how was it possible that a religion that could inspire such stunning beauty be interpreted into something so destructive. and fyi, i am not a religious person AT ALL

Does anyone know who set this imagery to the song? It is not only one of the most transcendent pieces of music I’ve ever heard, but the architecture in the video is mind-bendingly spectacular. Combined, they make my imagination go wild! It doesn’t matter how many times I watch/hear this. I always wonder who put the two together.

It's the circle of fifths. The left hand plays F#sus9, right plays C#sus9. You shift down a step, and then another step, and then back up a step. The song cycles in a pattern like this: A B C B; A B C B.
P.S. The chords are just fifths originating from the bass note up six notes. It can also be seen as two extended sus2 chords. Hope this helps.
