    Angie I don’t think that most people think at all about actually taking some time to work active skincare products like Vitamin C into your skin. Yes skin absorbs products sitting on it but if you really want good penetration and absorption spend a bit of time rubbing your Vitamin C, retinal, etc. into your skin. Some people seem to put it on and expect their skin to just slurp it up but that’s definitely not as effective as working it in. These products can be expensive so you’re right, it’s best to get the most out of them.

    Angie, the only exception I have found to applying products to damp skin is tretinoin. The first year my face stayed red and angry and I assumed I couldn’t use it, finally had an esthetician to tell me to only apply it on completely dry skin and it did the trick! Lovely videos, thank you for the tips.

  • @airamsipuola5045
    @airamsipuola5045 Před rokem +24

    Can confirm, based on personal experience: I've had rough rosacea skin despite a very oily t-zone. I've finally gotten the right combination of skincare ingredients to improve my skin, but it wasn't until I started applying products like serums and moisturizers to *damp* skin, that I really noticed a calmness that I was never able to achieve before. When I apply that stuff to freshly showered skin at night (when it's most water-logged), it's SO soft and calm in the morning. I'm still working on my comedones (I may try azelaic acid for that), and I'm afraid the only real way to get rid of the redness would be through laser treatments I can't really afford right now, but at 50, the surface of my skin is the healthiest it's ever been.

    • @AD-fo7tn

    You should try the La Roche Posay Thermal Spring water. You always want to apply vitamin C on perfectly dry skin and then once that has soaked in for about five minutes then you can spray this thermal mineral from water on your skin and then start with your hyaluronic acid or poly glutamate, which is actually supposed to be better than hyaluronic acid. You also don’t want to apply retinol, or tretinoin to damp skin. This really should be applied to dry skin like to soak in for 20 to 30 minutes and then at the thermal springwater, hyaluronic acid or the like, and then really good moisturizer.

    I found this wonderful little mister on Amazon that you fill the chamber with water, I have also used toner with it but basically water and you flip it over you turn it on and it sends out this wonderful, fine, fine mist of moisture. I use this all the time between the steps of my skin care if I feel it’s drying down a little too much. You certainly can use it during the day if your skin is feeling a little dry. Fortunately I have skin that rarely of ever get it irritated so I have no need to not keep it moisturized while I’m working between my steps of serums and lotions and potions, etc.

    Love this tip! A couple of things that I have learned...I have been using the Isntree Green Tea toner for a long time, but over the last year have transitioned to my natural gray color, rather than dying it brown. I noticed that the hairs that grow around my face were staining yellow, and after much analysis, realized that it was most likely due to the various tea products I was using on my skin, and in particular this toner. It is quite dark in color and I had outfitted it with a spray attachment, so it was surely over-spraying onto the hair by my face. Tea has been used to stain fabrics for a long time, so I suddenly realized that it was probably the culprit. Will use the rest up on my body somehow. I prefer the Sukoyaka Suhada much more, and it is perfectly clear, which is great for those of us with gray or white hair.
    The second thing I wanted to point out is that I have been using the Nira for about 6 months, and I love it. But I don't think I was letting my skin dry out nearly long enough until recently. I would wait about 5 minutes and go for it. I use in on level 5 and would barely feel it. Then a couple of weeks ago, I did my red light first, which takes about a half hour and then did the Nira. Boy, could I feel the difference in the strength of the zaps! Now it is very noticeable and I figure that means it's working that much better. Looking forward to even better results!

    This makes absolute sense and why the tretinoin insert says to apply to dry skin so that it doesn't penetrate too deeply. Conversely, when you want more absorption of something, do the reverse.
    I've also been using a device for better penetration of products after antioxidants and before moisturizer or tret. I think it's called a Booster H or something like that. I can tell it definitely works.

    Hi Angie. Yes, indeed - I have been following this Angie tip since I started folllowing you, about 6 years ago. It has helped get rid of the "crinkles"...and if you know, you know. 🎉🎉🎉

    So many good comments about Urea and last month I purchased it too. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me (which was very surprising). It made my skin dry (not immediately), but after I was done with the rest of my skincare and SPF, the skin started peeling and flaking throughout the day. I tried it again and again. Same thing. Nothing else was new. I stopped using it and the peeling stopped. Very bizarre

    Dear Angie 😊
    What about if our water is very alkalic? Isn’t it better to wipe off the water and then spray on a toner? I was told that alkalic water can leave a greyish surface on the skin so I prefer the other way 😊 but maybe that’s all wrong?

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  Před rokem +6

      I'm on the fence on snail mucin... there's very little research showing it works in skincare. There's 1 study showing good results on photoaging but it combines snail mucin with snail egg extract from specific snail species. Not sure that combo can be replicated on an industrial scale. IMHO, hyaluronic acid and glycerin are proven ingredients that can be used instead of snail mucin.

I’m using some Korean products right now but I still use my Timeless Vitamin C & my COQ10! Thanks for always trying to help! I got me a Kinzze after listening to you & I finally had to send an email to NIRA because I haven’t heard from them & they tole me they would get it shipped out! Angie... great use of the sponges to show absorption. Visuals always help with understanding processes. I was prescribed 0.5% tretinoin a month ago to deal with pre-cancerous spots on my face and am having problems with irritation and facial peeling. I started with 3x a week; after the first week I skipped a week and then tried 2x a week. I am still having issues so I am going to try 1x each week for a month. I am also suspending my vitamin C and CoQ10 serums as they are irritating. All I plan to use is Eucerin PM and sun protection. I am 70 and have been following you for several years. Thank you for your honest reviews.

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  Před rokem +2

      Hi Jennifer, You should just check with your doctor about how to use the tretinoin since it was prescribed for pre-cancerous spots. They might want an aggressive peel to remove the actinic keratoses which would be a different way of using it than my way which is to avoid peeling. xo ~angie

      @@AngieHotandFlashy Thank you for replying. My doctor wants me to slowly work back up to 3X a week. The great news is that I am seeing results already. My skin tone is evening out. My face looks better than ever (except for the peeling, which drives me crazy). I started using the vitamin C and CoQ10 again. You have really helped me with your thorough reviews & tips. I look forward to every post. 😍😍

      @jenniferreinoso7778 Před rokem

      @@LoveABun The dermatologist felt the use of tretinoin would be less irritating than the chemical cream she prescribed for my arms and chest. I will be using it continuously unlike the cream, which was used only for 7 days. Also, tretinoin targets all damage, where as the cream targets only pre-cancerous areas.

    Last year I used the damp skin technique and my skin became very flaky and irritated. Part of the problem was 20% l-ascorbic acid. I had to back off retinoids and I dropped l-ascorbic acid entirely. I do think it's helpful to apply some kind of moisturizer to damp skin first, whether it's a toner or serum or lotion. I resumed tretinoin, but less often and only to dry or to hydrated skin.
