Fashion Guide for Tears of the Kingdom - My favorite armor pieces

- There's a LOT of armor in Tears of the Kingdom, and not only is it all very unique and cool to look at, they all serve a purpose and you're likely to be wearing many different pieces for many different things all across the game. I love that, and there's certainly people who can rank which armor is the best based on typical things like strength, the abilities, etc., I want to talk today about armor sets and outfits I LOVE in Tears of the Kingdom -- but it's mostly based on my own personal aesthetics and opinions. I just want to share what I like, because I think it's cool to also hear from others what they are drawn to! Since clothing is so customizable too. :D It's super fun! So enjoy this style guide of sorts for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Being able to take the hood down by talking to Cece was genuinely one of my favorite surprises in this game. Having it blow in the wind while you paraglide is _sweet._ I really hope the next game gives you some fashion options that don't mess with stats.

That ruppee armor is a direct reference to princess Mononoke and honestly it makes me so happy to see considering gloom represents the evil like in the film. I just love those cool little details

I really like the Yiga Mask in yellow because it turns the Yiga eye symbol on the front of the mask gold. Yellow is the only color that dyes the eye a different color from the rest of the mask, and I like how it's a reference to how much they love mighty bananas
Ohh I never knew or saw that! I guess that does add a special element to using yellow dye, probably the best and most unique way :D
My outfit is:

I like this look because it sort of has that “blue champion cloth” the other champions had in the last game while also giving Link the older & mature look he had in Twilight Princess.
I guess the only downside to this assemble is the lack of defense it has compared to other outfits.

The outfit that I usually wear consists of:
Miner’s Mask
Archaic Tunic
Trousers of the Wild
All of them dyed red. My main inspiration were the ancient ancestors of the sages who wear cool zonai masks, and I wish in the DLC you can wear the masks yourself, I dyed all pieces red because red is my favorite color. I was going to use Archaic Legwear, but I replaced it with Trousers of the Wild for a bit of defense.
I mostly wear the Hylian set, because I like Link looking like an ordinary traveler and not standing out too much. I usually only change when I need the special properties of an outfit. Sometimes I wear it without any headpiece at all because I love Link's new loose hairstyle and it's tied up in so many of the headpieces. I would have gotten the earrings but alas, also a hair tie. (By the way, I watched this video with subtitles as I often do and there are a lot of places where they don't match. There's missing stuff while you talk, things written in there that you don't say, and sometimes something entirely different than what you're saying!)
I have a bunch of sets I wear, but these are the 3 ones i like
1. Gray hood down hylian hood, white froggy sleeve, and white rubber tights
2. White hood up hylian hood, white barbarian armor, and white gaiters of the depths
3. White hood up hylian hood, light blue snowquill tunic, and the fierce deity boots

My outfit is either the soldier's torso and legs dyed black plus Zant's helmet, or tunic of the depths and soldier's legs dyed black plus Zant's helmet. Has a pretty sweet shadow knight look to it. The soldier pieces have the good defense track, and Zant's helm giving unfreezable is a nice bonus.
I love the hylian hood down, champion's tunic, and the hylian trousers. Nothing dyed.
sometimes I creep around hyrule in a lizalfos mask and green hylian garb. to become an immortal dragon is to lose oneself..
my glide set is painted light blue/navy/pink. the lil blue beak is cute and the pink is nice too!!
my favorite color to dye the mystic set is navy. it looks much more dark green honestly and I love it because it really emphasizes the pattern and the shape of the clothing!
sometimes I dress link in cece hat/evil spirit armor/black dyed miner pants. :3
also if you upgrade all froggy clothes pieces twice, the set bonus is Slip Proof and you stop slipping entirely
Those sound awesome! You're probably also correct about the cute blue and pink beak the glide sets gets being cute, I hadn't thought of that! :O And ooh, navy for the mystic set sounds awesome.
In BoTW, I pretty much always wore the whole Sheikah armour set, though on the very first playthrough I wore the Sheik mask to cosplay the character.
In ToTK, I... still wear the Sheikah armour a lot but it's not my main outfit per se now. That would be the *Hylian Hood, Froggy Sleeve and Gaiters of the Depths* all dyed black. I don't have an eye for fashion at all but after a lot of messing around with armour pieces, I grew fond of the look and stuck with it.
This Ancient Hero set looks so intriguing. Now I want it too! 🤩
I had an insane amount of Rock Salt... so naturally I dyed everything pink. Every outfit, every piece that could be dyed.
Also: seeing Rauru in full T-Pose only makes hid stubby legs look weirder. It goes the same for the other non-human peoples of Hyrule; stubby legs, elongated torsos, and arms that stretch to the mid-thigh (not unlike human proportions, but the thighs are so much lower now!).
You want some armor that looks good in banana yellow? You must dye the yiga outfit. 🙂 Seriously, that's the only "correct" color for the yiga armor. It's great.
This was a good video! I absolute love the royal guard's boots because of how many outfits it helps me with and I love every ingle of your creations. Drip always comes before stats.

My go to in BotW was the full hylian set w/ the hood and tunic dyed green, but this game I’ve found myself partial to the climbing gear and soldier’s greaves both in their original colors (the original hylian hood is an optional addition). I just love the silhouette it gives Link; pinches his pretty waist and adds some weight to the legs. It’s a nice casual appearance for everyday exploring.

My go to outfit is the Royal Gaurd Cap, the Zonaite Waistgaurd, and Fierce Deity Boots. I have the Zonaite Waistgaurd died blue. I live in Hawaii and I think it's a snappy way to embrace that.

But there's more! Use the Lynel fabric for your glider, and you'll get an extra fashionable kick in the sky!

One you didn't mention that I really like is the whole miner's set. It also looks like an animal which is fun.
A letdown of the game is that you can't get your own classic Cece outfit, unless I missed that. I wish I could go around in shroom wear.
Lastly I hate the blessing shrines, being denied puzzles feels more like a punishment to me.

Also, my favourite dye colour is the Teal/Navy one - it has a nice dark shade without being colourless, which I love!
I usually run around wearing the Fierce Deity set due to the attack up, but when I'm having a bit more fun I like to put on the Twilight Princess outfit as well as the Master Sword and Hylian Shield and ride around on Epona for a while :]
and I also rlly rlly like the Evil Spirit armor (formerly the Phantom Ganon armor... but that was changed for obvious reasons) and I also wear the Yiga Clan set sometimes to get funny responses out of several Sheikah NPCs (although I got a little upset when Purah got mad at me so I stopped for a while)
and I also tend to change my outfit depending on the town I'm in and that hasn't changed since my days playing BOTW as a kid!!! I remember back in BOTW my main 2 armor sets were the Ancient Armor and the Barbarian Armor. Mostly bc of practicality. I doubt it's still around but I hope the Ancient Armor is somewhere hidden.
also, if you're wondering about the Ancient Hero's Aspect set and why he looks to be some kind of Zonai hybrid and what his purpose is, talk to Impa in Kakariko with it equipped and she'll give you some juicy details. Still raises a few more questions though.
my favorite combination is the diamond circlet, charged shirt dyed pink/peach, and the gaiters of the depths dyed white. all the gold and white look so good together (also makes link look very cute)

My favorite is the pants you have to use for getting to mineru the lighting and then mix it with tunic of wind and I love the korok mask and I am ze korok as you can see
Use the zonite waist guard, the sand boots, and the hylian hood, and if your feeling mysterious, use the stealth mask
One of my favourite outfits is the Trousers Of The Wild dyed light yellow. It look like the trousers on the Hylian set... But shorts.
I'm boring, I prefer the full Soldier's armor set, with the chest and legs dyed black, so the underlayer under the armor plating is black, and the head dyed orange, so the plume atop the helmet is a vibrant orange.
For varying reasons, it's my go-to color combination, black for the chest and legs, and orange for the head, but one reason is I just like how the black makes the chest and legs somewhat unassuming, while the orange makes the head piece pop.
I do the Hylian hood (down), Champion Leathers, and Hylian trousers. I like the modern hero look.
Favorite outfits for early/mid game
Hylian pants; black
Hylian tunic; white
Hylian hood, put down, dyed red.

The Cap of the Hero is my favorite of the classic hairstyles (Oracles Link is awesome), and I like both the more armored tunic and baggy pants. I might've went with the Cap of the Sky if it didn't look so oddly flat.

The outfit I personally use is white dyed Soldier's Greaves, and Soldier's Armor with Sheik's Mask, it looks like an anime protagonist.
I wear a set(very original I know) the set being the zonaite set. For 3 reasons, 1. I like the aztec inspiration 2. The set bonus is really good 3. I put in A LOT of effort getting to those sky islands so of course I'm gonna wear it.
My favorite outfit is the Zora outfit. Yellow headpiece, orange chest piece, and green leg piece. Classic Aquaman

If still slipping is really annoying you, upgrading the entire armour set twice it gives you the set bonus slip proof which ignores the wet property on certain things, which means you never slip. Loved the video

@@alyoalyoalyo Random tip for early game, weapons from different regions have properties that effect them in ways. The Zora weapons double in damage if wet, Gerudo weapons double the damage property of anything attached to them but trade durability for it, the Gordon cobble crusher does extra damage to taloses and frox, the rito weapons create gusts of air, the eightfold blade does more damage sneak-striking and the eightfold long blade is the wind cleaver from botw, the soldier armour charge attack takes less stamina to charge fully, the knights weapons double damage if you are on your last heart, the royal weapons do extra damage if flurry rushing and the royal guard weapons do double damage if it’s close to breaking. It doesn’t count shields and bows though. Hope I got them all

another one of my favorites has to be the sheikah set with black chestguard and tights, but red mask; the black gives it a stealthy look while the red eye on the chestguard combined with the mask has a lil threatening aura that goes so hard
also the ancient hero's aspect is meant to replicate the look of the ancient hero from the picture of the war with calamity ganon back in botw, it's a really neat reference

I like the ember head thingy dyed pink with the hylian shirt died pink again, and finally the sky trousers. I really like pink. before I liked green, but for some reason, totk made it change to pink.
Yiga set: Head dyed yellow, chest dyed pink, pants dyed blue. Fire.
My go to outift would be pink frostbite set with either the sapphire circlet or the Rito headpiece, which is a staple in most of my outfits. And I made the Yiga outfit yellow to make link look like a big banana for the ultimate camouflage lol.

Favourite armour is def Ember, the Body and Legs are a must, but the headpiece is meh. Especially when in hot environments the full set looks kinda like what Rengoku wears in Demon Slayer, and he looks frickin sick in that show, especially with a flame fused windcleaver you can basically become the best Hashira.
My favorite outfit is the Charged shirt dyed white with the charged headdress dyed pink (for pink hair) I mix it with Trousers of hero because the boots and shorts look cute with the charge top
I typically wear the Champion’s Leathers with the Hylian Trousers and the Well-Worn Hairband/Hylian Hood (either variant) or the Mask of Awakening instead of whichever headpiece or the Ancient Hero’s Aspect
For a Black Knight look I dye the Hylian Hood or Soldier Helmet Black, Zora Armor black, and Soldier legs black. I ride a black horse with the soldier armor on it, looks so good.
I'll always miss botw's ancient armor set, but totk has some really incredible stuff too. (really, i wish i could mix and match both games' exclusive sets)
I've been messing around with my outfits a lot more in totk than botw, but most things have been dyed black (i was going for a mix of black and white at first, but black won me over). the closest thing to a standard "set" my link has is yiga mask + glide shirt + ember trousers (in competition with the depths pants now that i have them), it's a flexible look though.
My outfit usually is:

Phantom Ganon Greaves
It’s a perfect combination of hero and villian, and this was also one of my main outfits in Breath of the Wild, just i used the cap of the wild because classic armour was locked behind amiibo.
My usual outfit in tears of the kingdom is the desert voe headband, the zonaite waistgaurd, and the archaic warm greaves, topped off with it all being dyed pink (bc pink is my fav color lol). It looks pretty good and its kind of all-purpose because of the heat and cold resistance
I know your pain trying it get all the shrines! It took me 30 minutes to find the last one!

Have you tried dying the snowquil armor and headdress purple and wearing it with purple dyed snow boots? Pretty and practical.
Unfortunately a lot of my favorite options do not let you dye them. Royal Guard, Lobster Shirt and Fierce Deity especially as I was curious as to how they'd look in different colors. The Time set would have even made sense as in OoT you literally pallet swap your tunic to either better survive in hot places or breathe underwater.
I think Glide chestpiece and Pants looks really great with the hood when they're all dyed a consistent color. If you wanna cosplay Moon Knight or make an Assassin's Creed style, it would probably be with this dyed white.
The radiant set dyed orange makes Link look like a luchador, almost.
Zora set dyed Red makes it look like you match the one who made it for you.
Mystic Headpiece looks pretty good in Yellow (makes Link liok like he went Super Saiyan 3) but light blue is my favorite for the whole set.
Midna Helmet looks good with a dyed Gloom Set...
And I REALLY wish the Ancient Hero Aspect let you dye the kilt, at the very least since it's a new piece. Still my absolute favorite overall though. Also another nitpick I have with it is that Link's Express is locked (along with a few different headpieces doing the same), even in cutscenes where Link would otherwise be showing a different expression.
One of my favorite combos is the Phantom Ganon cape with the Miner's Mask dyed black and any dark pants, plus a glowy weapon. If you don't get the reference, well, I find your lack of faith in my fashion sense disturbing.
My go to set for general use is:

Soldier's Greaves
Looks good and has high defensive stats for general use.

I really like blue :)

Not only it looks good in my opinion when max upgraded you get 60 defense and its enough to only take a quarter of a heart from a silver boko.
You should sort your inventory by set it helps a lot while changing clothes and could help with fashion, just a thought though

We actually do learn about the ancient hero in the game. During the eighth heroine quest, you learn that a hero voe helped save gerudo, but left unthanked, and the tapestry from BOTW includes an ancient hero with red hair battling Ganon. They talk about this hero alternately as a Hylian and a Zonai, but as you can see, he's a mix of both. Probably the son of Rauru and Sonia, perhaps.
I'm pretty sure the 8th heroine is a completely separate character from the ancient hero.

I really wish you could dye the Wind set, because I’d be rocking a Purple Toon Link fit 24/7!
I also sometimes just like to rock no head piece, the Island Lobster shirt, and the Hero of the Wind trousers.
My outfit in Breath of the Wild wasn’t a set though, it was the Hylian Hood dyed white, Climbing Gear shirt dyed white, and the Royal Guard pants, not gonna lie though, I definitely stole it from a CZcams video I saw😅

My favorite outfit aesthetically is the charged shirt, zonaite shin guards, and the snowquill headdress, giving link that adorable, super fem look, but sadly i don't really wear it most of the time because i always want to have the korok mask on.
Also, if you upgrade the froggy set to level 2, it gives the set bonus slip proof
