    Hopefully, this will be the beginning of fixing Tudor's reputation of missed opportunities. This appoach fully fits their "Born to Dare" motto. After this, I think if we see a loyal ranger and a smaller GMT, Tudor will be loved all round.

      Harry, the import question about any future Ranger release will be its size.
      Initially, I wondered if we would see a 41mm Rolex Explorer added to the line-up in '22, which was niave of me. It does, however, make me think a 38mm - 39mm Ranger may be on the cards from Tudor?

      Hmmm... I dunno man, I'd say it feels like a significantly different market segment. No metal bracelet, sportier, probably chunkier... I think we (the supernerds) always tend to overestimate our own relevance haha. And also... when was the last time we have not been able to justify to ourselves having 2 basically identical watches in our collection? I can't even bring myself to sell a random Steinhart Pepsi that I bought for no reason whatsoever 😄

    As a Pelagos LHD owner with the in house movement I've been more than impressed with it. In fact it is one of my go to watches from my collection. The new version is interesting but I do wonder if Tudor will kill off the current version (I hope not) or run it along side it. A conversation some time ago with another CZcams channel owner we discussed a smaller Pelagos where a reduced depth rating to 300 or 200M would be fine and the removal of the escape valve (to reduce the height) would work, even the removal of the date function would work if it made the watch thinner. I guess there are a few things that I would like any new Pelagos to retain. The titanium case material, the ceramic lumed bezel and ideally some way of a quick release bracelet that captures the fixed strap bars. One of the great things about the current Pelagos bracelet is the clever adjustment system. I look forward to the new Pelagos reduced but I will certainly keep my LHD version.

    Honestly, I think I'd rather just have the current Pelagos in a thinner 40mm case. The new one looks interesting, but I've always loved the Pelagos for being the modern "no BS" diver from Tudor with the BB58 being the throwback line-up. This feels like Tudor is just digging through their history for yet another vintage diver reincarnated to shovel into the hands of the fanboys.

    A welcome addition indeed. Genuinely pleased to see a past render of yours come to life (more or less...). I'm also pleased to see Tudor appeasing enthusiasts (again) whilst managing a few surprises. The size will be of interest to me. I'm hoping for a 40mm case with a 40.5mm bezel. For selfish reasons I'd love to see a lug to lug of 48mm (at least!) but the wing-span looks like it's compact, which will no doubt be welcomed by many.
    Like others in the comments, I hope this is Tudors first step away from reliance upon the Black Bay range for crowd pleasing releases.

    Thank you for sharing! I didn't know about this before.
    I'll be honest, I don't love it. First, I conceptually love how the current Pelagos is so clearly modern in its design. I find a vintage-inspired Pelagos to be inherently at tension. I know the Pelagos itself clearly drawing dial & hands inspiration from the old Milsub, but for me it worked since the rest of the watch featured aggressively modern features, so that it came off as "what would we make if we made that Pelagos from decades ago, but totally reimagined it today", but as a vintage inspired variant it seems to sort of be flip-flopping in terms of the identity of the Pelagos line. Second, I don't love the bezel insert, as I'm not a fan of countdown bezels, and also found the empty space (i.e. not having minute tick marks after 15) of the older version to look nice in contrast with how busy a square-loaded snowflake dial can be. Third, this is a common Tudor issue, but a vintage-inspired watch (nor any watch) should not have 4 lines of text.
    Maybe I'll change my mind as I see it more, I can definitely see the appeal (especially the black variant on rubber strap render you made) but just have some small hangups right now. I might also just be getting 'vintage-inspired' fatigue.

    I like the non civi version, also one of those photos of the military issue one is LHD (10:47). I've actually just started scuba diving and I've been bringing along with me my Seiko but actually I'm wondering whether this new Tudor could be a justified purchase!

    I believe the civilian version will have the spring bars and not the clips or welded spring bars as they will want to sell it with a bracelet. I am down to get one especially at 39-40mm. Also hoping the thickness will be comparable to BB58 so it’s not this big brick on your wrist. Also, it looks like those marine nationale are 200m water resistant so I am guessing the civilian version will be the same.

    Regarding the fixed (not) spring bars: At least CWC did this in their 1980 Royal Navy Diver reissue. But Tudor would definitely cause a bigger splash.

  • @Thomas_Burnett
    @Thomas_Burnett Před 2 lety

    Well done! You were right with your prediction my friend. There was a new MN Tudor on the cards. It looks really, really nice. I love the fixed springbar element. A true feeling military watch. It had to be a Pelagos rather than a run of the mill Black Bay too. It’s Tudors best tool watch by far. A LHD model would just be perfect. This is exactly the kind of collaboration that Tudor needs to help elevate the brand to the level Rolex wants them at so that the parent company can elevate themselves in the market place.
    Great video as always my friend. ✊
    P.S. Mate, I’ve been meaning to say it for a while but, PLEASE kill the backing music. The sound of the drummer playing with the brushes just sounds like someone grating their nails down a blackboard. It is SO distracting and I feel is an unnecessary element to your otherwise brilliant videos. I don’t know whether you feel that now you are on camera that you need a bit of music too but, you don’t and it all sounds like a bit of a mush. If taken out of the equation would add a bit of breathing space to the production. Just my opinion though. Great videos nevertheless. ✊

    Hey IDGuy, i am very keen to know your opinion on the new Longines released in colab with Hodinkee. Has it in your opinion taken the Design to a higher level? Especially the 3-6-9 „Design Flaw“ has been adressed.
