I was actually working on The Horse and the Infant animatic but it was taking too long and I had to take a break to focuse on uni projects and exams and now after the break I dont like how that animatic looks anymore haha. Maybe I'll go back to it someday.

The vile cruelty and spitefulness of Poseidon really comes across in this interaction. Poseidon *in no way whatsoever* needs Odysseus to get in the water in order to kill him; He could smite him with nary a stray thought, but he wants the satisfaction of Odysseus surrendering his life to him "willingly".
He doesn't want him dead so much as he wants him broken and in dispair.

it follows a pretty strong and noticeable pattern of sacrifice throughout the story too, like yea you get to choose to be dragged to the dark depths below, and be drowned and crushed by the sea, the very thing he just concurred.
      or,
he could live, he could run from a god. let his home get taken by the sea. his son and wife, gone forever. there is no winning choice. there never was. and to think, had he been more cruel. Then there would have been no more sacrifice, the cyclops would have never told his father who took his eye.

    • @CteCrassus
      @CteCrassus Před 7 měsíci +35

@@branard5748 It is Hubris to assume that you can wrong a god and escape consequence. The entire event happened on an island, right next to the sea and in full view of the rays of Helios. It might've have taken more time, but Poseidon *would* have found out and, call me crazy, but I don't think he would've taken the murder of his son with philosophy.
Ultimately, it is a false choice; He's essentially saying "either you come in or I drag you along with your entire country". He ends up dead anyways, but Poseidon wants the satisfaction of having him surrender.

There’s no other negotiation to be had. Just get out here while I’m asking nicely.” Like he sounds like he’s simultaneously extremely pissed off in the song but also enjoying this moment of absolutely putting Odysseus in his place. Because for him it wasn’t even fully about what he did to Polyphemus, it’s that he bragged about what he did to Polyphemus as he ran away on his domain. It’s legitimately insulting on multiple fronts and Poseidon needs to make sure this lesson gets through

I love the small details of the fishtail braids in Poseidon’s facial hair as well as the fisherman’s net being part of his outfit. There such perfect little details of his diet together so beautifully. There expressions are also done very beautifully, Poseidon looks like he’s taunting him while also being somewhat indifferent- like it’s a power-play And Odysseus looks terrified not for himself but for The clear choice he hast to make while knowing he is up against a god who clearly sees him as nothing more then mere minor inconvenience, like an annoying fly.. Kind like a cat and mouse.. It’s all just perfection.

    Lyrics:
    [POSEIDON]
I've been waiting for this moment
For the perfect time to strike
    When your home's so close
    And you've reached your coast
    That's when our paths collide
    I've got a reputation
I've got a name to uphold
So I can't go letting you walk or else the world forgets I'm cold
    Now get in the water
    Get in the water
Or I'll raise the tide so high, all of Ithaca will die
    Get in the water
    [ODYSSEUS]
    Wait
    [POSEIDON]
    Get in the water
    [ODYSSEUS]
    Stop this, please
    [POSEIDON]
I'll make tidal waves so profound
Both your wife and your son will drown
    [ODYSSEUS]
    NO
    [POSEIDON]
    Get in the water
    Get in the water
Don't mistake my threats for bluff
You have lived more than enough
    Get in the water
    Get in the water
I'll take your son and gouge his eyes
That is, unless you choose to die
    Get in the water
    [ODYSSEUS]
    Aren't you tired, Poseidon?
It's been 8 years, how long will this go?
    We're both hurting from losses
So why not leave this here and just go home?
    [Poseidon, spoken]
    No
    Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves
    Die

    • @amiti2168
      @amiti2168  Před 8 měsíci +10

I disagree, gods are not good or bad guys, they just are. They aren't just patrons to their domains, they /are/ their domains to some extent and their personalities are often tied to the things they look after. Poseidon is ruthless, so is the sea and so are the earthquackes. The same way Hestia as the goddess of hearth, home and family is always depicted as the kindest because home is supossed to be a safe place filled with love and kindess.
Also many mortals like Achilles, Agamemnon, Tantalus, Jason, Medea and Minos (and many others) did things that were either as bad or even worse than what most of the gods were doing so labeling gods as bad and mortals as good doesn't make much sense.

Athena knows Poseidon is a greater threat than the other gods her student aggravated, and he has a very legitimate reason for his wrath. Odysseus did mutilate and humiliate Poseidon’s son, and the gods have destroyed thousands (or more) for a lot less.
Athena might not like her uncle, but fighting him is not the same as arguing with Ares for insulting someone she likes.

Tbh I hope this version won't be in the Spotify release.
The version goin around Insta/Tiktok with female singer Is *SO* much more powerful and better.
This version abuses autotune and is too focused on sounding *good* instead of focusing on *Sounding* good If that makes sense...
It's like this in majority of the songs so far, It's always way too youthful soft voices focusing on pretty singing instead of *Good* singing.
It's a Musical, It's not enough to be able to sing pretty, you have to be telling a visual story purely through tonal changes, pitch changes and lyrics.
Really hate how much Autotune they abuse in the musical so far... This could have massive Broadway potential on global scale, but instead they limit themselves into Tmblr fandoms and groups of Discord moderators & a Furry.
It has so much potential, but instead of taking Rougher, deeper, better vocalists, they just abuse autotune...
F.x Cyclops Saga using Auto Tune instead of just finding someone with a strong voice, like Kratos voice actor to do the part.
Love the musical, but the directing of it and song composing is being affected way too much by snowflake inclusive agendas.
Painful to see smth you love get run into the ground like that...
