"Wheels of Confusion" off their Vol. 4 album is a must.
And Supernaut and Cornucopia are bangers too.
@@skatter44 Oooohh yeah.
Best exit solo of all time!!!!
This is a hidden Gem 💎!!!
Bill Ward on drums is a integral part of their success.
absolute monster, especially on this track
"Supernaut" from Volume IV is a masterpiece. The very first time I played it (on the vinyl album) it was the most funky hard riff, with Bill on the high-hat....dude it is something special.
The Master Tony Iommi creating another masterpiece. Everything heavy is based on what he did. Even James Hetlfield was inspired by listening to his older brother's Black Sabbath albums as a kid.
A jazz pianist McCoy Tyner invented heavy metal. He played power chords on acoustic piano in the early 1950s.
I would strongly suggest that the members of Deep Purple - especially Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore - created original music that helped create the Heavy Metal sound and much that followed has also been heavily influenced by what they did.
I'm 56, and I'm hearing this for first time 😮. Live & Learn.
An absolute must for Black Sabbath is "Snow Blind from volume 4.
You got it right mate
One of my favorite Black Sabbath song :3
Snowblind, baby.
@@robertdewiro7007 Same man, that middle section makes the hairs on my neck stand up
just said man, best on the album.. me thinks...
I love their entire discography but Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sabotage are to me, pinnacle for composition, riffs, word & voice. Hats off to this suggestion, the best place to start Sabotage, & I'm hoping you continue with Sabotage. Thanks guys!!
i agree. sabbath bloody sabbath is definitely my favorite black sabbath album, and sabotage is also awesome, and contains one of my favorite sabbath songs, megalomania.
I AGREE!!!
"A National Acrobat" is an amazing cut from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album.
Bow down to the METAL GODS Long live the SABBATH
You can't go wrong with anything from the first six Sabbath albums. Sabotage, the album this song is from, was their sixth album. Most heavy metal that appeared in the 80s and beyond is indebted to Sabbath.
True but they never really improved on this stuff.Van Halen the notable exception.
Gotta do Megalomania from the same album. Brilliant
Three extraordinary great musicans with an iconic singer, that's the mixture of one of greatest Bands in Music History. I love Bill Ward, what a great drummer.
Isn't he, tho? Sometimes subtle, other times crashin...he just kills it! 'eavy metal meets jazz..and they became mates in this band!
The greatest - Tony Iommi! The man invented a style of music by himself. I had the album when I was 15! What a riff!!!
Some amazing deep cuts from Sabbath are "Sleeping Village/Warning", "Hand of Doom", "After Forever", "Into the Void", "Wheels of Confusion", "Supernaut", "A National Acrobat", "Sabbra Cadabra", "Megalomania", "All Moving Parts(Stand Still)", "Junior's Eyes" and "A Hard Road"
All EXCELLENT choices!!!!
Don't forget The Writ
Excellent choice. A masterwork of heavy rock.
The honest smiles & laughter, realizing just how good it is. Love it.
Bill Ward's drumming on this is immense 🤘
Indeed, it's the ultimate in air-drumming.
Do anything from the album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - it's their "prog" album, lots of changing time signatures, orchestral bits, keyboards. Also, Sabotage - the album Symptom of the Universe comes from, is very diverse
Totally agree - Every track is a gem.
Rick Wakeman on the Mini-Moog on "Sabbra Cadabra".
The first Sabbath album I ever heard was Sabotage, then in order of release all the rest.
@@bobc538 the first Sabbath song, mate! It should scare the sht outta ya...then you're ready to roll on...
"Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is my favorite Sabbath song, followed by "National Acrobat", my second favorite Sabbath song. Great album. it doesn't get the respect it deserves. Iommi has said it was their best work.
Don't forget the other singers in the band either. Check out the song "The Sabbath Stones" with Tony Martin on Lead Vocals. Very underrated iteration of the band.
Tony Martin era Sabbath is totally underrated, Cozy Powell was there. And Wow!
Headless Cross and TYR are VERY underrated albums. I love Tony's voice :). And yes! Cozy Powell on 2 Sabbath albums!
Nightwing fly awaaaay......❤❤
Ozzy has such a unique voice and Bill, Geezer and Tony gel with him so well. Good track, but Master of Reality is my firm favourite album though
Great track off my all time favorite Sabbath album 😁👍👍
Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage represent the pinnacle of the discography
Nobody can wail quite like Ozzy! A heavy song. Great stuff!
Its easy to loose perspective about Sabbath because so much Metal has been recorded by 2022, but NOBODY was doing this when they did. Pretty much ever 70’s Sabbath track inspired a different genre of Metal that exists today. They are the first, the seminal purveyors of Metal history, and they did it by adding a ton of volume to jazzy, bluesy, musicality. The rhythm section of Ward and Butler really swings and they were much more subtle and nuanced than people who just generalized their sound. You two are getting a great example of Sabbath today! 💫
This is probably Geezers best lyrical content. The first verse is insane! It blew his band members away...
Black Sabbath will be quite a rabbit hole - They even had Ian Gillan on vocals after Ozzy left....but for me personally, when Ronnie James Dio joined the group, the entire dynamics changed with the incredible album "Heaven and Hell" - Listen to the title track. It's soooo good !!!! - Don't get me wrong - I love Ozzy. As well as Black Sabbath I have all of Ozzy's solo albums. He is a legend and I love him dearly, but when it seemed Black Sabbath were coming to the end of the road - along came Dio and they hit the stratosphere ! What a comeback !!!!!! Great reaction to a brilliant track. Here's to many more !
And Ozzy was resurrected, best for everybody!
People tend to fall into the Ozzy or Dio camp. I agree though, I like both versions. Heaven And Hell is a great album, the title track, Neon Knights, Children Of The Sea (always thought the start of it sounds a bit like Hotel California). In fact the first time I saw them was on the Mob Rules tour in 1982 at Hammersmith Odeon. I'd also seen Ozzy a few times previously, including the legendary Heavy Metal Holocaust in Port Vale in 1981 with Motorhead amongst others. Sabbath were originally supposed to play but pulled out. Cue lots of jokes about Sabbath from Ozzy, including they were now known as Geezer Butler and the four Italians (Vinnie Appice was Sabbath's drummer at the time. I was lucky enough to see Randy Rhoads with Ozzy twice in a matter of months. I also unfortunately saw Sabbath at Reading Festival in 1983 with Gillan. They were appalling, Gillan just wasn't right for them. They had the famous Stonehenge stage set which was the inspiration for that famous scene in Spinal Tap, albeit Sabbath's version wasn't quite so underwhelming. They even did an awful Sabbed up version of Smoke On The Water, Gillan even got his fucking bongos out at one point. Finally got to see them on the 13 tour with Ozzy a few years back. Wasn't expecting much but it was absolutely phenomenal. Bonus was it was in Birmingham as well, so being a honetown gig, there was a really celebratory atmosphere.
@@walkingwounded3824 True and Ozzy's last solo album [ so far - fingers crossed ] is among his best ever !
@@FloatingAnarchy61 You seen some stuff there my friend - Out of all of it I don't even need to ask - The most memorable - Randy Rhoads !!! Surely ? What a loss & so young.
@@jimled50jl49 Yeah definitely a sad loss. He could shred with the best of them, but also had a subtlety to his playing. The Reading festival I mentioned had The Stranglers as the Friday headliners and Thin Lizzy on the sunday (their last show in the UK with Phil Lynott). Stevie Ray Vaughan was also there as well, buried in an afternoon slot. I was roo young to appreciate him at the time, and well, it was, nearly 40 years ago. It was quite an eclectic bill over the three days as well with the likes of Big Country, and Marillion as well. The only disappointment really was Steel Pulse (really good reggae band back in the day), getting bottled off without having the chance to play a note. Rock crowds could be a bit conservative and reactionary back in the day. Hands down though the best live performer I've ever seen is Prince (Hop Farm 2011). Absolutely stunning performance and I'm not a huge fan. Played for over 3 hours but it seemed to go by in a flash. The best guitarist I've ever seen (and I've seen few). Closely followed by Neil Young, seen him four times and he's,never been less than brilliant.
Now, That's What I'm Talking About!!!
More Sabbath Please!
I felt like running through a brick wall! So much energy!
Love ya, Nick&Lex
Keep on Rocking!!!☮
Two of my favorite albums from Black Sabbath are VOLUME 4 and SABBOTAGE. Every song is fantastic!
I am a Sabbath fan since 1971, when My dad bought me Master of reality. I was 11. I had heard Paranoid. Kept on about Sabbath, so got MOR for xmas. 63 now. When I pass away, my farewell song is Into the void.
Second half of this song is so beautiful.
For a lovely piece of acoustic guitat from Tony Iommi, you have to listen to "Laguna Sunrise" :)
The first six albums are absolute metal paradise .
Been a fan of Sabbath for most of my 55 years and this is my favourite song from my favourite album. Without Sabbath the band's you mentioned would not exist.
Great reaction.
One of their most underrated songs
If you like this try Hole in the Sky from this album. This is one of my favorite BS albums
Just wait till you guys hear “Hand of Doom”. That’s really gonna blow your minds.
Bill at his best here. Amazing drumming.
I've been a Black Sabbath fan since 1972, and they've been my favorite band for fifth years.
Definitely think you should check out some Dio Era Sabbath as well. I would suggest:
Heaven and Hell
Mob Rules
Children of the Sea
Sign of the Southern Cross
This my favourite Black Sabbath song off my favourite Black Sabbath album. When it came out I raced down to the record shop, came back and put it on and it blew me away. There is very little music. including Black Sabbaths that I can listen to after nearly 50yrs, but this is timeless. Glad you like it.
Sounds like you're getting better health wise 👍 great to see my friends! Hey! Hello Marley 💞
One of my favorite Black Sabbath songs! Thanks for sharing!
Between 1970 and 1978 the four original members of Black Sabbath produced eight studio albums, all stand alone works of art. Check out their first self titled album, it'll change your perception. I first heard it in 1970 when I was 9 years old, it changed my life.
This song reminds me of early 80s British heavy metal in some ways and perhaps this was the prototype, great pick!
Hey NicknLex my very first gig at the tender age of 16 way back in 1970 was Black Sabbath. OMG!
The next Black Sabbath song I would recommend would be Supernaut from Black Sabbath Vol. 4. The main guitar riff is one of the best.
One of the first progressive metal bands ❤️…..
BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sabbath has at least 50 songs that are top tier. Hope you guys listen to some more of them.
Black Sabbath WITH Ozzy is astounding, at least up until this Sabotage album. But if we're going to explore hard rock I would URGENTLY recommend Hard Lovin' Man by Deep Purple. Cheers!
Buy the vinyl version of Sabotage. The cover is so trippy. Was my favorite Sabbath album and Symptom my fav song when I first discovered them in junior high back in the early 80’s.
A favorite High school party album (Chatsworth High '76!)
Then I discovered in the 1970
Hey Nick N Lex, these guys are an awesome listen. You should dig into them for sure. Into The Void and After Forever are two excellent songs. Glad you like the 1975 thrash by Sabbath. Keep up the good work.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath... one of their best songs ever.
Love all Ozzy sabbath albums..
Ozzy solo live album Speak of the devil has an amazing version of this song w/ Brad Gillis on guitar ( Nightranger)
Black Sabbath, the Grandfather's of metal. Tony Iommi basically created most of the riffs that came later with other metal bands. So many songs in their catalog to explore.
Unbelievable music awaits!
Incredible infuencers of an entire style
Right, that chugging @ the beginning-hadn't much of that before...Blue Cheer, perhaps
The best Sabbath album. IMO.
Tony Iommi is an amazing guitarist - the second half of this song is much like "It's Alright" off the "Technical Ecstacy" album.
I think you're enjoy that as well!
Tony is a left handed guitarist that started out as a right handed guitarist with Jethro Tull (pre record contracts) until an accident cut off part of his finger and he had to re-learn how to play as a lefty!
Actually, he has always been a lefty, and the problem was that the injury occurred on his fretting (right) hand, which is what made things so difficult for him. He had to learn to play through the pain and with homemade prosthetic fingertips. It was suggested to him at the time that he try to learn to play righty, but that was too hard at that point.
Bill Ward saying lead on that wasn't he?
This was my first Sabbath LP at age 15 in 1975 so this is an excellent choice.. super heavy. The Sabotage album has numerous great tunes.. "Hole In the Sky", " Megalomania ", "The Writ", and "The Thrill of It All " are all worth checking out..
2 young people that like Kansas and Black Sabbath. Two of my all time favorites. Wow
Brings a tear to my eye 😿
Awesome song, definitely one of my favourites from Sabbath. You really need to check out their self-titled song “Black Sabbath”. Probably the first Metal song ever, and so great! Other tracks I would suggest are “Children of the Grave”, “Snowblind”, or “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” but you really can’t go wrong with any song up to and including the Sabotage album.
For their next era with Ronnie James Dio, check out “Children of the Sea” (or anything else from Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules).
Thanks for the great video as always! 🤘🤘
Nick & Lex, this song is supposed to be what the 'thrash metal' genre is based on; a driving beat, with a repetitive guitar riff of Iommi's underlying Butler's great bass. However, Bill's drumming is incredible on this piece of music and the lyrics, supposedly about birth and the generations to continue, the emotion of birth and sadness of the creator are one of Geezer's greatest compositions. But what makes this song so unique is the outro and the superb acoustic guitar combined with what I think are Ozzy's best vocals because I can hear the emotion in his voice. Please explore more Black Sabbath....and Happy New Year to you both!
Dont forget the most important thrash metal element; a chunky palm muted riff followed by a big and long chords. Its amazing how Sabbath managed to created this song in 75. The only thing that hold this song from being recognized as thrash metal is the tone. The tone is not super distorted due to the limitation at the time, but when you hear the Sepultura cover, its clear that this song is thrash metal.
This classic was from their 1975 album Sabotage. This song is generally considered to be the birth of thrash. Iommi not only created great riffs, he created whole genres.
As a huge fan since 1972, I’d suggest hand of doom off Paranoid
The Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage albums are the most proggy of their output, but the first 6 albums are amazing.
The album is a Masterpiece, recorded just over a mile from where my father was born.
this would be my first intro to Sabbath so well done, I know plenty people would pink something else but this is the ultimate Sabbath song for me... PS love the RUSH shirt, major rush-head here
Loved playing this song in our Sabbath Tribute band several years ago! I play drums so of course it was a blast! You guy’s reactions are always so enjoyable, love you both!! HUGE Rush fan here!!
My favourite Sabbath album.there is a good documentary on you tube about the making of this album and all the legal problems that went with it
The critics used to love to trash Black Sabbath. This is further proof that they rarely know what they're talking about, just their self-serving snobbery. It took me until after I graduated high school to get into the middle-later Sabbath, as obviously it wasn't as readily available (as now) if you weren't flush with cash. I didn't really have a music collection to speak of until I was in my mid 20's.
I thought about that for years . . . WHY? I think they didn't get the point of "Riffs", just straight chords instead of playing intricately (or 4-bar blues) carrying the rhythm or groove, and then when bands played intricately like soo many Progressive Rock bands, they hated that too :P. They were all stuck in the 1960's, especially Rolling Stone mag, they even trashed Zeppelin, its like they couldn't make-up their minds or just didn't want to be challenged. They needed "formula".
Your story is pretty much mine as well, I was just starting my collection at about 19 in 1982.
I use to go to Rolling Stone record store in Chicago and buy loads of albums for $2.99-$5.99 each. Makes up a big part of my record collection.
That entire album is pure 🔥🔥,!!!
All of those bands that you mentioned would POSITIVELY claim that BLACK SABBATH had a huge impact on them pursuing an instrument. Pioneers for sure!
You really need to react to their beautiful proggy song "Air Dance" from never say die. The keyboardist is Don Airey who played with coliseum II, Rainbow and is with deep purple now.
All hail RAWK!!! Great Sabbath track. Never heard this one; Love it. Awesome drumming and a cool break at the end with the acoustic guitar, Ozzy in great voice. Thank you.
Love the variety on your channel 💗
The progression of this band from their debut through to the sixth release is staggering. They are a rabbit hole to dive into and their are acoustic tracks that will blow you away. Orchid, Laguna Sunrise will floor you.
Wheels of Confusion is a progressive metal brain melter. So many tracks.
Great guys! Plenty in the best musicians and innovative brand in heavy metal!!
Sabbath is dark and awesome!! For the listeners if you haven’t heard the Sepultura cover of this tune, you really are missing out on some just solid guitar and drums. Crazy speed metal good. It’s on Nativity in Black. Probably the best collection. Of Sabbath covers or any band ever put together for that matter. Sabbra Cadabra next?
The Sepultura cover is the proof that this song is thrash metal. Sepultura didnt change the song that much, only the tone and production, and it clearly is thrash metal through and through.
Epic track. Epic album... It's every thing you want from a Rock band..Nice one!
A few other good rockers from the boys (Ozzy, Geezer, Tony, and Bill) are "Hole in the Sky" (Sabotage) "Killing Yourself to Live" (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath),.and "Children of the Grave" (Master of Reality).
This song is extraordinary ... one of the best kept secrets in the history of music
Sabotage is Dark Side Of The Moon hard rock music. Perfect LP
wish i could discover Black Sabbath again
'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and 'Sabotage' are the apex of their 70's era. Ozzy's vocals were at their peak, Geezer's lyric were extremely potent with great bass-playing to boot, Bill Ward was going wild on the drums, and Iommi being an eternal god with guitar and songwriting. Check out "A National Acrobat".
Lex has that bass line! Nick’s got the riffs. Both do drums. And necks are exercised with head banging.
Fun request, MM. And Nick Drake was another great request. I almost requested another from Pink Moon.
Nice change-ups in this track. Another great reaction! And Ozzy’s vocals! Oh my Marleykins! ✨🤪
And ... congrats on 35k!!! 🍾🎊🎉
Donald and Walter (peeking out behind you - lol) also helped. How about Royal Scam and The Fez to close out that album - and there will still be a couple good, unheard tracks left. ✨🤪#NicknLexRequest
Michelle, I'll bet they give you the kind of chills I have been having since 1970. Those guys were just plain magic. Thanks for your input here, this was a spot on request no matter who made it. 🎵
@@vicprovost2561 Yes! Glad they enjoyed it. Thanks to Murdock. Thanks for the comment, Vic. Cheers ✨🤪
@@michelemichele3375 I'm flattered. I wouldn't consider myself a real metal fan/listener, but this kind of 'heavy' makes me happy.
More Nick Drake - any time, Michele. I am sure Nick and Lex would love it. I have a more recent artist in mind for whenever I manage to squeeze in a new request, but it's gonna be more singer-songwriter again...
@@murdockreviews Sounds good to me. I’m a big fan of that genre too - Joni, Nick, Jackson, Neil, Dylan, Sweet Baby James, John Prine, Elton even - I’m all over the map. Lol. Can’t wait. ✨🤪
Thee FIRST mosh pit head banger metal song, all metal was birthed from this song. In the 70s in So California we always listened to Zeppelin Sabbath and Purple
I realise that my opinion is shared by very few, but I don't care: Sabotage was the best Ozzy era Sabbath album. After the experimental approach of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, the band realised that they needed a proper heavy metal record, and the result was stunning. The songs are progressive, the production is superb and Ozzy's voice is phenomenal--he never sang that well before, and he never sang as well ever again. I urge you to listen to the rest of the album, and find out for yourselves. \m/ \m/
We share this opinion.
@@murdockreviews We too, we share this position
@@kenbarton2920 ha, the legion of 'Saboteurs' is finally growing 🙃
@@murdockreviews yes...excellent 😈
Well, for awhile this was my fave Sabbath album of the Ozzy era (between this and "Masters of Reality"). One of my fave tracks too. This was a HUGE influence for Thrash, because of the opening riffs and the repetition through the song. Bassist Geezer Butler is sometimes an unsung hero of Sabb along with Iommi's riffage. And Bill Ward tearing it up on the drums!
But! . . . . I think its time to discover the *Ronnie James Dio* era of Sabbath (and the source of where the \m/ \m/ gestures come from). Please see the the email Reaction Suggestions from Box II (and Dio with *Rainbow* ) from the "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" albums (that were both FINALLY remastered).
I was LATE on Sabbath as well. At a family party, I was in a living room of a family member who had a stack of Lp's, and in it was a interesting cover with intriguing typography, it said; "Black Sabbath - We Sold Our Souls to Rock 'n Roll". Never heard 1 track, until I heard "Iron Man", "War Pigs", "Paranoid" about a decade later on a FM station. By the time I started delving into them, Ozzy was fired and replaced by Dio. It was like discovering Rainbow during the Graham Bonnet era, and going backwards in their catalogue. And getting to know more of the Ozzy era of Sabbath.
Nick, you'll be pleasantly surprised to hear more Acoustic Guitar and a more Medieval and Baroque sound.
- And a BIG hug for Marley, bless his little grunt :).

Wasn't until 1993 I was 18 years old and I bought all Ozzy era Black Sabbath albums on cassette, and sat and listened to them in order through headphones.... From the opening note of the self titled track on the first album I knew I was in for something different than the well known Paranoid, War Pigs and Iron man.... They were so far ahead of their time, people still ain't ready for them, and maybe never will be....
Sabotage is one of my favorite albums
I really great request! Although i do know a few of their hits! I have not really delved into their discography! I loved this song. The guitar riffs and the drumming were really was top notch. And the last section this song took it a completely different direction musically. Im really impressed. Nick and Lex thanks for this video. You both sound a little better! I also want to thank everyone who buys a request on here. Its a lot of fun to discover new music and share new music with all of you! Lex: im glad the shirt fits! Glad to see you wearing it! Love you guys! Take care of yourselves. Look forward to next video!
This is a spectacular song. The beginnings of thrash metal, and then that soulful jazzy 2nd part, with Ozzy singing blues! It doesn't get better than this. Now Nick & Lex you simply must thoroughly explore Black Sabbath, starting with their first album. The song Black Sabbath, Warning/A Little Bit of Finger, The Wizard, and N.I.B.- but with N.i.B. you must hear it like it was on the album. The 4 songs Wasp, Behind the Wall, Basically and N.I.B. are all one long song and you must hear it in one sitting. Bon voyage! It's a helluva ride...
Slight aside - the album on the back wall with the bearded guys head - what is that album? I know it but I can’t remember and it’s bugging me like anything!
@@ShaneWilletts I don't know, nor do I care
@@spazimdam Funnily enough that’s exactly how I feel about your reply.
@@ShaneWilletts Sorry. I guess what I should have said is: why are you asking me? I mean I just don't know who that is.
The album is called Sabotage. Their best album far as I'm concerned next to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
From the album "Sabotage" the best album they ever did
It doesn't get much heavier than that!
this whole album is awesome...black sabbath sabotage....you guys must listen ..
I saw sabbath 3times....I'm so glad I was a teenager in the 70's.
Tony Iommi is not only a master of heavy, doomy riffs, he is also a great jazz guitarist. Listen to Wicked World, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Bill Ward on the drums was also very jazz influenced.
SABOTAGE is my favorite! 🤩
The entire album I’d gold. Best Heavy Metal album ever. Listen to it and deny. Great reaction!!
Slept in my Black Sabbath T shirt and woke up with a "Symptom of the Universe".........
Great choice Toby. It has been so long since I have listened to some tasty Sabbath that I forgot what a great drummer Bill Ward is. Thanks for reminding me. It also was great to see my buddy Marley again.
Lex it looks like you bruised your arm in the mosh pit. Are you OK?
Glad you enjoyed this with us!!! Marley says hi as always and sends kisses galore! Aww thanks for checking in; I burned myself with the oven a couple days ago. Mosh pit sounds cooler though! :P Lots of love!
