The Tipler cylinder solution

The Tipler cylinder is a solution to the Einstein field equations in general relativity that represents a closed, infinitely long, cylindrical distribution of matter. It was first proposed by physicist Frank Tipler in 1974 as a possible model of a "time machine", a hypothetical device that would allow for time travel into the past.
