How does the trump suit work if trump is led but the two dummy hands have trump that is not showing? Also, same issue if a card is led and the dummy hands (s) can beat that card and possibly take the trick but their higher card is covered so they don’t know to play it? This just doesn’t make sense with 2 dummy hands and cards covered up.
Historical question: Would two person bridge have been played in the South in the 1930's or only four people?
My understanding is the two-player version came out in the '70s called Bridgett.

Highest Trump would take the trick.
This is Honeymoon Bridge for 2 players. Not Standard 2 player Bridge.
