Numan himself basically says that by this point he'd lost control of his music career and was just doing whatever the record company told him would make a hit, and hating it. It's all very slick but Gary has called the whole album "a total piece of shit". It's interesting to contrast this to Sacrifice, where he in effect quit the music "business" and just went into his home studio to record and produce an album of songs exactly how he wanted, all by himself. Production wise, it's a bit rough in places because he did it all himself in a shed, and this is pre modern DAW era too, but musically it is a great album full of brilliant songs that set the template for him moving forward.
@@calebfuller4713 I think "Machine and Soul" actually a very fun and guilty pleasure album 😄His deadpan rap actually works well in "Poison" And in his live album "Dream Corrosion" "Machine and Soul" & "Generator" actually very good live song :)
Compared to his most famous and still admired early android years with that distinct Numan Synth Sound from 79-82, this is fookin awful . Its really is cringe worthy ! He later admitted it was his worst period
this was The Room of his career
Fun Fact : Kipper (Guitarist with a long hair) real name is Mark Eldridge.
So we can easily imagine if Gary said : Oh Hi Mark 😄
i must say...a very good song!
hard to believe this is Numan, he went from telekon to this crap, thank god with sacrifice he found the road back to stardom.
All thanks to his wife Gemma by pointing it out, and hearing Depeche Modes Songs of Devotion album
don't care that it's bad. I'm jamming
Rock on 🤘🤘 nanananaaa
❤❤❤❤
Even gary said pile of shite lol
And the funny thing is : It actually sound much better and powerful in his live album "Dream Corrosion" 😄
I also love Kipper too 😄
Wow its like the General MIDI version of Gary Numan. Watched this because even he said it sucked.
idk how but gary's vocal tone is the only good thing about this.
Well it’s not Telekon. I can’t say it’s bad, but it just doesn’t seem very Gary Numan-ish…

Hilariously bad. But it’s Numan, so STILL enjoyable
