    Omg, that leap on the gate is scary

    Loved it. Thank you for such a detailed description.

      It does very from lock to lock as different canals have slightly different lock designs. But hopefully it gives a good idea of the principal .

    That first leap over the gates very graceful...looked almost cat-like...I it were me...probably look like cow jumping over...ha! Love your videos and safe travels!

      That's lock was in the middle of a flight of 30 so I had a bit of practice by this point.

    The single handed things we do during lockdown.
    Thanks for sharing and please stay safe. Locks are slippery when wet.

    The boat moves around so much inside the lock!

    • @SashasNarrowboatLife
      @SashasNarrowboatLife  Před 3 lety +2

      It does when going up but it looks far worse because the videos was sped up. The boat hardly noves going down

    This is giving me more confidence! I’m a bit scared of the locks, but you’re amazing!

      They are nothing to be scared of. Just keep away from the cill, take the windlass of the spindle when you're not cranking it and take your time.

    Looking at this from the USA (where the government likes to make everything maximally “safe” - often to the point of absurdity), I am impressed by the way your CRT keeps these centuries-old locks true to their original construction. Bravo! But how do they do it? Surely modern boaters have accidents and get injured... How does the CRT keep the ambulance-chasing lawyers in check?

    Just be careful jumping across from one gate to the other if it is wet as you could end up getting an early bath....

      I'm not a fan of locks myself. I prefer tunnels over locks so I guess it's only said if that is?

    • @adriansample1674
      @adriansample1674 Před 3 lety +1

      Difference is, you have to work the lock to get through, I watch other people working them lol. Hopefully one day I get to do them from your side 😀😀

    Worcester- und Birmingham-Canal, Lock 39, I know the canal from previous vacations. Also I know this radioamateuer G0EHQ.

    • @SashasNarrowboatLife
      @SashasNarrowboatLife  Před 3 lety

      Technically it was lock 39 and 40 as I messed up some one the clips on the first attempt. But yes you're right. I single handed the entire flight with no help and all locks set against me.

      @@SashasNarrowboatLife It's a very demanding flight, and to do it as a single boater is crazy. I saw the vlogs from Anna and Kath and Juno and saw how exhausting it must have been. I managed this flight myself with 3 other friends on a very long day. We didn't see much of the landscape.
