    I haven't had any real-world experience landing at Logan (only countless times within MSFS2020 doing short hops from TF Green/ KPVD). Regardless, I did have a bit of aha moment (in terms of confidence) coming back from KRIC (Company's holiday get together)
    Robuc3 (which ROBUC itself is within spitting distance of a former airpark where I grew up) with 27 being used. Being on final (above the water) I couldn't help but think of the pattern work I was doing at KOQU, with runway's 23 threshold not too far from the shoreline (it is rather interesting being on final across a shipping channel with a departing RoRo, and being nearly at the same elevation as the bridge).
    There was an internalization on how the ATP's were able to maintain such stability on the approach without having to overcorrect.

    Would you be willing to come on an interview show I will be producing and directing in the Boston area. (could do it either in studio next time you fly in or over ZOOM from anywhere The show willbe a 60 minute interview show and potentially a podcast as well and I'd like my host to ask you about what its like to be a pilot and other things regarding working in the aviation industry. And your experiences being a pilot. Hope you might be willing to come on as a guest when I get the show up and running. The show is called the NOTABLES and will be a variety interview program on local access TV (PEG TV) and a podcast potentially. Hope we can talk more.

    That's a quick takeoff for an A340-300!. In your opinion as its pilot, is the bird really underpowered?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Před měsícem +1

      I agree but it was due to the fact that the aircraft was rather light that day at 200 tons.
      With higher weights and temperatures, it does have to work a bit more... ;-)
      In comparison to the A340-600 and the A330, I would agree to say that it is underpowered, even though it still does a good job. Its fuel efficiency compared to the A346 comes at a price...

  • @InTheMood-fi3bh
    @InTheMood-fi3bh Před měsícem +1

    If I heard correctly that was a flaps 2 packs off takeoff from 4R, which is a pretty large runway. Is that a normal config for the 340-300?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Před měsícem +2

      Exactly - flaps 2 is standard takeoff setting per company policy and packs off for multiple reasons, f.e. fuel economy, engine life, noise abatement, etc..

    • @InTheMood-fi3bh
      @InTheMood-fi3bh Před měsícem

      @@PapaPadde interesting, is it any different for the -600?
      Is there any runways that you fly out of that you have to use a different config?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Před měsícem +1

      It is basically the same procedure for all variants - A343, A346 and A330.
      Depending on weight and conditions (wind, temperature, pressure), as well as airport elevation and topographical features, it is sometimes more efficient to takeoff with a different flap setting in order to be able to increase the margin to the maximum possible takeoff weight.
      Airports that are quite challenging in that regard are Denver, Bogotá El Dorado, or San José for example.
      But also a short takeoff runway does have an effect on that which we sometimes have at several US airports.

    hi, may i ask why the displays kinda fade in and out?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Před měsícem

      Hi there, of course you may! The screens are CRTs and their refresh rate does not match the fps of the camera recording. Therefore, we see them blacking out or partially displaying things.

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Před měsícem +2

      These are CRTs and the refresh rate of the displays does not match the fps of the recording. Therefore, we see black screens in between or incomplete pictures.

    • @jimbarrofficial
      @jimbarrofficial Před měsícem +1

      Newer screens are LCD or LED displays so they don't have this refresh rate issue with video at 30 frames per second out of sync with the 60hz refresh rate of CRT screens.
