Starting the Wood Shed - Setting posts and laying foundation logs

- We set the posts in the ground for our wood shed build. This will be the perimeter of the shed and quicker half of this building project. Long logs are the foundation for the other half which will support our new sawmill platform as well as a room dedicated for drying out and storing the lumber we mill.
This multi purpose building should come together fairly quickly as long as we keep working and don't take too many days off to go fishing!

That kiddo is going to have an amazing childhood!!!
Cody your patience & resourcefulness is a credit to you.
For such a young couple you both have grand determination & drive to make a lovely remote home for your family. Little Rowan is adorable.
All the best from Perth Western Australia.
What you guys are able to get done with limited resources is amazing!!!! Great job!!
You are amasing you done so well, never give up, Im nearly seventy and just so wish we had done what you have , simply love your life, you are so free x❤
Way to share the load guys!! Awesome job utilizing your available materials! I look forward to your videos each week. Rowen, hope I spelled that right, is really growing! Such a cutie!!
Glad you decided to flip those logs around! That looks worlds better and probably more stable in the long run! Kiddo is cute as a button and growing up watching/helping/learning with you 2 will make for a fantastic childhood enviroment!
Rowan is adorable. She doesn't know it, but she appreciates the mosquito net. Those big logs are a bit scary. Enjoy going fishing, hope you catch some for the freezer.
Lol I must say my heart was in my mouth when he was pulling that big log down but he did it the land is looking really good you both are doing a great job and the little girl is so cute and seems she's enjoying her adventures with mum& dad bless her .take care👍👋❤
the a-frame maneuver to get that big log rolling was pretty cool❗️hard work, hooray Cody ‼️
Nice to see progress on your woodshed! You know what they say.. "the heart off every homestead is a full woodshed". Too bad more people don't heat their homes with wood,
Amazing job, that little 6 wheeler did a GREAT job. GOOD LUCK FISHING
Your property looks so good with that cleared area!! What a difference. It's going to be so nice to have outbuildings! Happy for you guys. :)
Your little girl is growing so fast and is so cute. ❤️
You two amaze every week! So smart on saving your bodies and you work so well together! Continue to be safe!
That 6x6 can drag those logs with ease.
Rowan is growing fast! She's so beautiful! Going to be nice to get that build done & get all ur things out of the weather. 😊💜
That A frame strategy for lifting the logs is new to me. Very clever!
the only thing that would make your channel better is 2 a week. good job
Don’t forget the CZcams meetup on the 13th
You’re doing an amazing job job building with resources you have. The use of leverage is how they built the pyramids
Awesome job. Going to be such a game changer for the future. So great. Rowan is so beautiful and a big help. Glad you are taking time to fish. A little fun is important. How many fish did Rowan catch. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🎣🎣🎣
I'm learning ways to move heavy awkward items . I may never have to move logs but so many of the ways you use have given me ways to move things I need to move.
Property looks great all cleaned up.looks very spacious.great work guys.
That was a thrilling ride with the logs!
Hi Lori n Cory
So nice to see you in pretty weather instead of snow lol
Rowan is growing like a weed
Your going to have a nice sawmill area when done
Thanks, very kool. ✌🏻👊🏼
Y’all are doing an amazing job building this homestead! Be proud of yourselves👏
Too late now but you should be charring the ends of the untreated posts.
I bet they know all about charring and a ton of other options to preserve the post and decided this was the way THEY WANTED to do it.
@user-zl7ep7bh7h
Calm Down.
It’s great you’re using what you have to get the job done!
I’ve seen ppl in another country and they stuff big rocks in the ground around the pole to stabilize it.
Looking back on your videos you have both done amasing, and baby is beautiful x❤
Big project guys 👍
Commenting from Africa southern part Zimbabwe
Hi from 🇨🇦.You make a great team.Job well done.
Great video you two work good together baby girl is growing so big and cute 🎀😊
Good size wood shed. Looking good. Keep going your doing great✌️🇺🇸
One cute little baby right there..Be running around before you know it
Have you thought of making a simple axle with a couple of fourteen inch tires to strap on the rear of the logs you are hauling? Pretty simple project and mega useful.
Loving yer channel! Rich on potato and larger rocks!!! Can you see them in a wall around the berries? Spend a few minutes a day and harvest the bigger ones to a pile for later use... ???❤
Was thinking next summer Rowan will be picking up rocks but most likely putting them back in the holes. (Helping Daddy)
Great start!
Great way to
Use your good trees
That’s going to be a large shed!
Hello 💞 nice to meet you 🖐️🙏🙏🙏
Could you.filter the.dirt and used gravel.for.drive way and dirt.for garden?
Nice build
You guys are amazing! Really fun to see how you solve things :)
How long will untreated posts last there? Here in South Carolina 1-1/2, 2 years at most. If they're treated 10 - 15. Y'all have come a long way . Living the dream.
In southern Missouri, treated lasts 10 years tops. Ask me how I know that.😅😂
We are not sure how long the posts will last in the ground. We are frozen most of the year and we are in the gravel that drains any water quickly. The thought is once the bottoms start to rot we cut the bottoms off and slide in pavers.
Your have built a lovely home ❤
Great job I would peeled the logs but hey you have it going good luck always keep going
Question about the logs, will they Age faster with bark on?
Your homestead is looking good 👍😊
are you going to dig out an area for a cellar. Also, are you going to lay down in vapor barrier and insulate under the subfloor. I' m totally impressed with the A-frame wench method. Probably how the Pyramids were built . lol
hello you two
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Most dangerous jack but most usefull!!! Lol
Yea Wayne
Love Ridwan she is beautiful. X
Sorry you had to flip all the logs.I was yelling at you from the beginning to put the big butt in down at the other end
LOG ARCH
The posts are going to rot before you can say swiper no swiping.
Like and subscribe.
With the concrete cement, it’ll help the polls stay for good
Ahem, you need a chipping bar. Digging those holes with that narrow spade is not a good idea. Plus maybe a post hole digger to remove the loosened soil/rock from the chipping bar.
The one question I have is should you be using pressure treated wood versus logs? Just thinking logs would rot faster. I’d be concerned bugs/ termites could be present. Otherwise a job progressing very well. 😊
Termites are extremely rare in climate that has frost.
@@maryhall6584 thanks. never thought of it. I live in Fl.
Do you have your worry about frost heave? Watching the logs go in the homes seems a bit shallow?
I came here to say this. In our area, frost heave is huge. Even posts buried 4 feet heave. Building on skids in our area is better. Speaking from experience in Trapper Creek...
🇳🇴👍👍
Aren't the logs going to rot pretty fast not being treated or charred?
Revelation 22:20-21
King James Version
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. happy sunday
What's the story on a well
Everything cost a lot of money , a well very expensive.
I hope your guys get in this year.
@@nanscott3362We decided to go with a rain catchment system because couldn’t get a well truck into our property! Ask how we know that, but like you guys, not giving up on the dream, and we’re old!
Them poles should be put in below the frost line. The freeze thaw cycle will make that building fall down
In our area the frost line is 8ft deep.
Once on the gravel it doesn’t move much, maybe an inch at the very most.
On top of the clay though it will move close to a foot in some spots but is usually less than 6 inches.
This episode stressed me out lol
WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TRYING TO DO?? HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE YOU TO BUILD STRUCTURE WITH A SPADE? THE LOGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SCORCHED ON THE ENDS BEFORE PLANTING THEM, ROTTING WILL START PRETTY QUICKLY!
NOPE NOTHING POSITIVE IN THIS COMMENT…..Nothing like another negative Nelly to make your day. Do it your way I don’t see anyone out there doing it for you.
