College is a scam these days. Only a few reasons to go to college, you want to be something like a lawyer or a doctor. Other than that it’s a huge waste of money and time. Aside from the political indoctrination, it’s lost significant value with what you can get on the internet, especially over the last 10 years, and that’s only gotten more true. Not only is the information and ways to learn yourself never been easier, but it’s also never been easier to still get a degree without even going to college and vastly reduced cost. College used be more valuable, back when we had limited access to information. Not so long ago the only place to get information was books, TV, radio and newspapers. That’s it. Academic information was only available at libraries, and unless you had access to a really good library it also limited your choice at that. That’s why it was important to find a great teacher and that meant going to college. Employers also respected the college education more, the degrees were seen as more valuable. That’s why there’s so many jokes about how graduates working at Starbucks and can’t get a job, or when they do they’re still impoverished. People also used to have lifetime careers, and the idea that you’d start at a company when you graduate and retire there after decades is laughable today. Some say they need the structure of college, but the reality is if you’re someone that doesn’t have the intelligence or tenacity to educate yourself or train yourself with all the resources right there at your fingertips and a cheap internet connection, that’s a HUGE red flag that you shouldn’t be doing it at all. Your field should be something you WANT to do. That you aren’t doing it because it was just the next step from school and you had to pick a subject. If you’re not intelligent enough you shouldn’t be doing it, if you’re not excited enough to want to do it then you’ll end up hating your life and have a very hard time progressing, you’ll pivot sooner or later or drop out anyway. All that and you’ll still owe them a mountain of cash. With AI now threatening everyone’s jobs it’s only going to become even more important. University’s prices are literally overpriced. They are based on the value they generate from you as a student. From the moment the printing press was invented it lowered “University”’s fundamental value proposition . All the technological advances since then have lowered “University”’s fundamental value proposition. They still still charging people as if this wasn’t the case. People are still paying them enough that they still keep their prices high. But make no mistake about it, it’s objectively true that the value of college is vastly less, year after year. And I mean that literally, it is objectively true that they are a waste of money in most cases. The fact you don’t need to go to college to learn how to do whatever you want, even with the choice to hire whatever tutor you want from all over the world, or the endless tutorials and online courses. The fact that you don’t need to go to college to even get a degree. The fact that company’s don’t even value degrees like they used to. The list goes on and on. Do not go to college. Identify what you love. Learn how to do it, identify how to make money with it, learn how to make money not find a job to pay you to work. Etc. College creates wave slaves and political indoctrinated activists with massive debt, and existential disappointment and demoralization.
