- There is a tool in Lightroom that I use more than any other. It is really easy to use and means you do more in Lightroom and less in Photoshop. I love it!

I have to say, this is one of the few times a video about a “hidden tool/feature!” in Lightroom actually taught something I didn’t know that is also incredibly useful. Thanks!
Nobody else mentioned the alt for intersect.
The lightroom masks are so great. So much great AI these days, Luminar Topaz DxO, are all amazing, too.
@@WanderFeetChronicles In fact I had never heard about it before. I makes it a secret for me then I guess 😆
Nigel - I have been away from photography for a few years because I had feet and leg problems too! They really limited my physical abilities for the last several years. I had surgery yesterday to repair what was essentially an aneurism of my spinal cord! Today I can feel my feet for the first time in close to 4 years. I now have hope that I can return to photography. I have followed you for years. Today I came to your channel to get familiar with some of the new Lightroom features. I had no idea you had gone through back problems!
Wow! Something that wasn't actually clickbait! Thank you. Super useful.
One of the best updates they have done to Lightroom. It’s a very powerful and user friendly tool.
Happy to see you slowly getting back on your feet, even if recovery takes time!
This is a life saver Nigel!!!
Good to see you back, Nigel!
Thanks Nigel, wishing you a speedy recovery!
thanks Nigel and wish you speedy recovery.
LOL Nigel, I have been requesting this feature and hadn't realized it was here. THANK YOU! On a side note, your back... My Uncle owned a landscaping company and made it big, he was the main landscaper for Disneyland back in the late 80's or 90's. He was hands on and as such destroyed his back. He's had 3 surgeries, was supposed to have just 1, the subsequent surgeries were to fix the first one. After the third, he was still in pain but decided not to do it again. They gave him pills (almost got completely hooked), the pills eased the pain but weakened his overall health making it more difficult to heal. This went on for years, but a few months after his 3rd surgery, he felt the dependence of the pills, it scared him and he stopped them but was still in enough pain he couldn't function normally. Being that we are in California he decided to give Marijuana a try. After 4 months, his back started to feel tolerable, even when he wasn't using it. I don't know the exact science behind it but there's been some research to show that Cannabis may actually help in the healing of bones. Where as pills actually hurt the healing process, weaken your mind and body.
Just some food for thought. You are an incredible photographer, I strive to reach your skill level and level of success, it would be a tragedy if something like your back prevented you from moving forward in your career.
Speedy recovery!
Justin
Great lightroom tips Nigel, glad to see you on screen again!
So glad the surgery went well... great to see you!
Glad to see you back. I hope your recovery is complete and you can get out in the field again. Good luck/
Thanks Nigel. Welcome back.
Great info!!! Glad to see you are back and hope you are feeling 100% very soon. No rush... will be here whenever you are ready.

Great Job Nigel. Glad to see you're on the mend. I've been in back hell myself, glad to see you're getting your life back.
It is very seldom that I learn something new about Lightroom, but this is definitely one of them. Epic video
i have known about this tool but you have displayed very nice ways of actually using it to your advantage. Very impressive.
Top tip. Like it. Thanks Nigel. Wishing you a super speedy recovery. Simon
Wow! Thanks for the heads up on this feature. I wasn't aware that I could do this. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Nigel - Thanks for sharing. This is truly a game changer!
Awesome way of explaining something I ‘ve had difficulty understanding! Thanks for the tips, Nigel!
Brilliant. Thanks Nigel. Game changed.
Thanks Nigel. Awesome as always. Hope you recover from your back surgery soonest
Wow! I agree with Ryan’s comment and think this is just brilliant, thank you very much!
I wanted to wish you a full and speedy recovery from your surgery!
I also wanted to thank you for this video. Th is a remarkably transformative "hidden" use of an existing Lightroom tool. Or at least, I didn't know about it. Maybe I accidentally missed it as a new feature? In any case, the ability to "intersect" masks is an incredibly powerful refinement tool.
The "select sky" mask has always been impressive for its ability to accurately select the sky (in most cases). But the practical benefits have always been limited by the (apparent) inability to soften the transition areas between sky and ground/subjects, etc.
Thanks to this video, I now know how to soften or otherwise customize those transitions. Thank you again!
Hope you get well soon and stay safe in these hard times
Missed you Nigel, glad your operation went well, welcome back!!! Also, great vid!
This IS acutally SO SO good Nigel! still amazed!
Hope for a quick recovery. Your channel is a reference for landscape photography from photo to print. Thanks
Love that seascape at the end!
I remeber this tool was in Capture One when I tried it out for a few months and loved it.
I did not realize it was available in Lightroom now, finally a video with a tip/feature that is actually helpful!!
Thank you
These are some awesome tips! I’m praying for you to have a quick back recovery! 😊
Thank you so very much for showing this little, but powerful hidden tool in LR. Wished to do it that way, but didn't know until your video that it's already implemented in LR. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Fantastic find! Haven't seen one other person even mention this, and I had no idea it existed! Can't wait to play with it.
Woop woop the king is back!!
This is a great addition to the tool belt, thanks for the info Nigel! Hope the back heals quick for you!
Good information. Thanks for the tips! Wishing you a quick back recovery.
Good day, Nigel. I can't tell you how many videos I've seen about Lightroom and intersecting, but this was - by far- the BEST I have seen. The explanation and the demos were just spot on. Fantastic video and thank you ever so much for sharing this process with us. Best of luck in your recovery fro your back surgery and looking forward to seeing you back in the field!
Every once in a while you can stumble upon some really useful videos on Lightroom and Photoshop. This is definately one of those videos. Wow...
Thanks so much for this Nigel. I paused your video and immediately tried this tool on a photograph that I had given up on... It worked beautifully! I hope you get well soon.
Extremely useful! Thank you Nigel.
THANKS, Nigel This Was very helpful in seeing several great examples of how the intersect tool was used. I have struggled with the concept after viewing several other vids from others that tried to explain it without good examples of the how and why. Wish you a speedy recovery. This was excellent thanks again
some very useful tips here Nigel, thanks for sharing, hope your back get better soon so we can see you back in the field.
Incredible. So useful and well demonstrated. Thanks!
Hope you continue to heal. Will definitely give intersections a try next edit.
Great video, very helpful! Good to see you back in the chair, and hope to see you out and about very soon!
Possibly the best LR tutorial video you have done Nige. These are fantastic tips and explain that 'Intersect' mode so clearly and succinctly. Sending some healing power to you from Tasmania.
Very useful. In ACR pressing the shift key gets the intersect function to appear.
Very cool. Never noticed the intersect tool before. Thank you and best to your progress in healing.
great teaching moment mate!!!!!!!!!! so many people claim to have a cool secret in LR and in the end is just for clicks. not you...you rock!
First class as ever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Take care of your back Nigel !!! And thank you very much for this hidden tool. Makes life easier indeed !! Thanks so much !
Thank you very much. What a great tips. All your tips in Lightroom and Photoshop are extremely helpful!
As a LRC newbie this changed everything!
One of your best videos. Top lightroom tip and well explained. More like that would be good. Thanks
Great to see you're back. No pun intended. Hope you make a speedy recovery.
Thank you for explaining these intersections! Easing the sky effect gently through the horizon line with the sea using a linear gradient is brilliant! Way better than a simple sky selection. Glad you were able to sit and make this video!
Great video Nigel; you helped me mightily. Now all I have to do is to turn this knowledge into understanding and intuitive action. Glad to see you've returned. No doubt we all look forward to seeing you running around like a headless chicken again soon.
As always, liking before even watching. Great content
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks, always love your posts.
This is a valuable feature that I didn't know, thank you so much! Brilliant!!!
This is an amazing tutorial. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
Hi just an update for the intersect locator (windows). If you hover your mouse pointer beside whichever mask you want to intersect, you will see 3 dots to the right appear, click on that and a small menu appears with the option to intersect 😊
Brilliant Nigel, thanks for the great video!!! Congrats!
That is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing that. I never knew. 👍🏻. Hope you back heals quickly.
Huge tip!!! Thanks. Looking forward to your tips on drone photography. Keep on healing!!!
Great video. Hope you continue to feel better. I did this with separate masks but this is much more elegant.
Wow! Fantastic video! You have helped me so much with editing in lightroom. I knew it was a powerful program, but didn't know how to access some of these amazing features. Wishing you a fast healing!
Wow, what an aha-moment. Respect !!!! Such a great video despite your back-issues.
Great tips Nigel. I hope the recovery from the operation is swift and you get back out with the camera soon.
I stopped the video in the middle just to test it!!! what a good tips :). Thanks!!!!
I only discovered you yesterday and I think it’s going to be a great learning curve. I didn’t know so much after all!!! Thanks!
I took some of my best pictures in Faroe islands but I have to admit yours are so much more epic! Thanks for the trick!
Thank you for the tip Nigel. All the best with your back..
Thank you. I did not know that you could combine the tools that way. Very useful.
Thanks Nigel for very useful tips! Hope your recovery goes well, meantime take it easy!
I luckily just found this technique but thanks for sharing Nigel. This method of intersect is really good.

I affirm you get stronger everyday Nigel. be well my friend. Jeff, Brisbane, Australia
Thanks Nigel! Very clear. I’ll try it, because I often do a number of local adjustments, which intersect!. Hope your back is better soon!
Nigel, this was a very helpful video! Thanks! Good luck with your recuperation. I've had back surgery as well. Be patient. You'll eventually be back on your feet.
Nice one Nigel always rely on you to pass on top tips will practice this tomorrow hope your back sorts itself out quickly till next time stay safe 👍🏻
I’ve watched a similar video explanation on this ‘intersect’ before, but yours is much clearer. Thanks Nigel. From a fellow back pain sufferer -3 ops - I can sympathise. Hope you have a speedy recovery with good relief.
