  • Made at the end of the colonial revival period,by the Winthrop Furniture Company in Boston, who made high quality furniture. Solid African mahogany except for the draw fronts, original brasses, but the piece has been refinished. Very popular style until 1945 when the GI's came home from the war and needed more utilitarian furniture to raise families.

I have what seems to be the exact same piece. On mine, the entire section where the tiny door and Mail compartments comes out. If you hold onto one of the mail slots and pull towards you it comes out a reveals more hidden compartments. You must completely pull it out though.

I have this desk and I used it every day and it is the most important piece in the house. In any given day, I would open and remove items at least nine or ten times a day.

It's an antique now 2024. I found mine a few years ago at the Goodwill for $60. Didn't know what I was buying at the time.

I have this desk. It was my great grandfather’s and then my grandfather’s. It’s in rough shape, but I am going to try to bring it back without painting it like seems so popular nowadays.

Really good hinges on that drop leaf. Also the automatic supports are clever design.

Found one of these thrown out by a dumpster today. Picked it up. Looks like it could sell for decent money after some repairs, but the key wasn’t thrown out with it. I hope it’s still sellable.

I've found the keys are pretty generic and not hard to find. I have a key collection and many fit multiple pieces.

I got one of these today but the hinges are broken, any idea where I could get replacements? I've been looking everywhere but haven't had any luck.

Thank you. I have a 3-drawer version of this. Could you show what the key looks like?

The keys should be pretty simple and standard, just a plain key would work. Beautiful desk.
