ILL TELL YOU WHATS NEW! They just opened the east river esplanade!! They were working on it until Dec and now it is walkable. From 60th to sutton Place where it ends (54th i think)... maybe one day they will connect it to Carl shultz park but so far theres a gap (i get out on 78th and get back on 71st) - TRY IT BEFORE PPL START FLOODING IT, IT IS SUPER COOL!
0:36 NYC defined in terms of outdoor activity is a clean fresh thought for the new year. Often, UNGA, Fashion Week, Restaurant Week and pre-Xmas shopping week define peak NYC.
great video btw, do it for every month with the same calendar graphic! super helpful to (i) remind me to reserve places in advance (eg im going to book restaurants now for the 9/10/11 weekend, it is usually a bloodbath during fashion week) and (ii) help to assess which areas NOT to go during certain weeks LOL
it is weird and cool to see a nearly 50 year old interested in transit even if just for tourism. so many similarly aged people i know are mostly into anything but transit for a variety of reasons.
@@esgee3829 I honestly believe tourism is a great gateway to getting people interested in transit. Often, people (who never have taken public transit) come back from Tokyo or Switzerland and are so fascinated by taking a train.
@@UrbanCaffeine have you ever run into urbanism/urban planning tours just for americans visiting some of these exemplum areas with the purpose of turning them into advocates for change in their communities when they return home rather than just a fleeting life experience? i could envision a tour where a guide shows people not just how to use transit or bike or walk in a particular city in japan or switzerland, but how it integrates with life of everyday people. how rich and poor both use it. how much it costs to use. how much it cost to build and upkeep. what you can see while using it (imagine the views of city skylines from above ground rail in switzerland or city busses in tokyo) and how it integrates with everyday life - getting to work or school or 3rd places which integrates with restaurants. And the places you can live and stay at or very near stations themselves. Then a very basic guide on where to get things like these back home (a bit difficult in the us where different jurisdictions in various localities are responsible for planning).
Very nice list of things to do in NYC In February! Have been to the Chinatown lunar parade a few years ago... It was so much fun! Thanks for sharing beautiful lady😘😘😘 xox
Restaurant Week should really be Restaurant Month at this point. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a great hotel for February as part of a staycation but also for NYFW since I’ll be covering some shows and I don’t want to commute back and forth from Jersey (which I did last year and was hectic).
Love your reviews! Was just there last week for a winter getaway and saw Central Park in the snow! Also, I used LIRR to go to US Open last year, and now feel very confident taking the subway. I used to take Uber everywhere and the subway is so much quicker without the traffic, and much cheaper! Sorry to give you this update, but Josh Groban is no longer in Sweeney Todd. The new male lead is Aaron Tveit who is an awesome Broadway performer as well.
I never realized the Met Museum has over 2 million objects! Thanks again for the useful information what to do in NYC during February. I liked the Knickerbockers over the Nets 🏀 The other teams I grew up rooting for were the Mets ⚾️ Jets 🏈 and Rangers 🏒 Good luck to your 49ers in the playoffs
I saw Merrily we Roll Along a month ago. Really good. Also, Hadestown is great, but we saw it with the original cast, and Patrick Page was so strong as Hades, it's hard to imagine someone else in the roll. My wife just checked out the Museum of Broadway, which she said was better than she was expecting. Last time I was there, we were staying a few blocks from the The Battery and saw a bunch of cool stuff. We visited the Tin Building a couple of times for some good meals. There are some good views of the Brooklyn Bridge there. We even saw some folks doing training on it. Fire department, I think.
Sounds like a great trip! You're lucky that you saw the original cast. There are some bragging rights to watching the original cast before it gets "big"
@@UrbanCaffeine, I thank my wife for any Broadway bragging rights. Our first show together (and my first Broadway show), was Hamilton, when it was only open a month or two. She'd been following its development & bought normal-priced tickets when they first went on sale.
Great video! I was in town this past December and it was a wonderful time! Another indoors place that is cool to go to is Swingers Crazy Golf. I had the opportunity to go and it was so much fun. Kind of expensive, but definitely worth it! You forgot one other sport going on during the winter, the NHL. The New York Rangers play at the Garden and the atmosphere there is awesome! So much entertainment goes on during an NHL game! Keep up the great work!!
Hey there! I think I mentioned this in a community post. I'm slowing down publishing bc videos just take too long to make. Videos will be every other week (unless there's a sponsored video). But I do publish mini vlogs weekly on Patreon.

Cleared. Fly home New York.
Love your videos. You are always on point with what the folks of the city are feeling.
salamat 4 the video ! the indoor things are also good for rainy days or when it's very hot , like last summer when we were there !
I wish i could be there for Lunar New Year. Do you think they stream the parade?
I don't think so, but I'm not sure. There are always plenty of people posting videos and pics on social though.

That is sad news! But I'll probably still see the production at some point. Maybe by lottery. 😂
Great video. The second Restaurant Week is in the summer.

Need these monthly or seasonally please!
FYi, Josh Groban left Sweeney Todd in mid-January, but Sutton Foster should be starting in February.
Thanks!
You're welcome and thanks!

Knicks all the way!
How long does an MTA card last after purchase/1st use?

Thanks! Yes, I was going to add hockey for the March video. Gotta pace it!
The New York Rangers , appropriate cricket sounds... Thanks Thea ... 98 years in NYC and crickets ...
Well I was going to mention hockey next month. But you beat me to it.
Let's Go Rangers! 🏒🥅
@@UrbanCaffeineHey , Thea ... Are you alright , truly missing , more of you ...

Очень красивая
Reportedly, Groban left Sweeney Todd on Jan 14. So, not an option for February this year.
Oh dang! Well, I'm sure it's still a good production.
@8:08... pronounced 'HAY-dees' town.
You mean, 2024, right?😊
Oh man. Lol. Thanks!
Pay attention!🤨🤌
I thought I clicked on the wrong video. I'm predicting a re-upload in the future...Lol 😅
