  • Quick tutorial on how to floss for sockeye. I had no clue how to do it a week ago and this isn’t the authority on it. Just a primer on what to expect.

Seriously one of the best videos I've watched on the art of flossing for reds. Explained in an easy to understand, and straightforward way.😊

Flossing is just a delicate way of snagging that is safe for our trout.
Watch those around you to get the pattern and then let the current work for you.
You’ll quickly get the hang of it.
Then it’s time to fire up the grill.

a TIP especially on the doc, pull it down river and it will go up river and tire itself out especially if its a big king.

Thats the B&B dock in Soldotna, aka Tim bergs Trophy Lodge. I've caught tons of sockeye off the dock.

its a very short season. A few weeks in july to maybe first week of august. The Alaska fish and game website lists all the rivers with the anticipated runs.

at least flossing is not as DISGUSTING as those half wits using treblehooks with leads to rip snag violently into the poor fish.

flossing is the Alaskan term for snagging here in Oregon. We call it wrapping line. lol

      Flossing isn't snagging.

@xplicitfishin the dude literally says it's the same thing. There's no guarantee you'll hit the fishes mouth.
