I get that the Met Gala has built up a reputation for outlandish outfits. Costumes one might even say. But maybe that is now past expiration date. The Blackpink girls represent a new generation. Maybe it's time for the Met Gala to evolve its tradition to stay relevant.
Plus there's possibly a cultural divide as well. Maybe the Met Gala is really not as famous as people in the West like to think. I mean if these South Korean girls don't know what to expect of the Met Gala by now, then it can't possibly be as world famous as people make it out to be.

You also make an interesting point about the met not being as worldwide famous as some people think, one fact that I find interesting about this is how the only people who seem to know about the MET outside of the anglosaxon world are gen z and people with a particular interest in fashion, most people over the age of 25 both in Europe and Latinamerica simply don’t know of it’s existence.

mmmm yea met gala IS about being extravagant though, it's supposed to be the event where even celebs are more "dressed up" compared to their usual. But seeing as this year's theme is a tribute to karl lagerfeld at least she isnt off theme like how rose was in 2021 (she was pretty much used as a model for YSL's ready to wear which was sooo basic) but lets just say everyone who's praising this look would not have given it a second thought if someone else wore it instead of jennie
It amazing how Emma handled Jennie’s nervousness here, if you feel Jennie, she’s a little nervous here but Emma managed to relate to Jennie by being nervous, how it feels like, what or how to act. Emma is such a great host I honestly say!

So i just wanted to explain why they chose to give her a simple mini dress😊
Also jennie is really tiny, her bones are small so giving her a dress with long trail would overpower her size, so I'll say the stylists did a clever job by not giving her a predictable long gown and giving her a mini dress to turn heads thus justifying her status
The only thing is in UK media I had to search for Jennie. In Vogue online article I recognised it was her with a back shot in someone else's pose shot 😢. I wish they'd given her something more impactful, to me she looked like a little girl and it's the first time I've ever seen her in opaque tights. Beautiful nonetheless and I can see KL theme.

I thought because it's the Met Gala, Chanel was going to dress Jennie in a more exaggerating dress, but I love how they kept it simple and elegant. They stayed loyal to their style and image.
