I’ve never used traction control, however this year it seems so much harder
I’m with you on this.
I managed without traction control last year on a controller but this year medium isn’t even enough 😣
@@Ian-tx1fp seriously lol I lose so much delta time this year than I ever did in the past 😭😭😭😭
It must be a control thing? Cause I find it easier this year than last years game on my thrustmaster wheel and pedals. I find myself spinning out a lot less this year maybe i just got better at these games tho I only started playing them towards the end of F1 2020 right when 2021 was about to release so I’ve been playing for a little over a year.
@@PhilipJFry-tm9ve maybe its only about the controller I'm struggling massively this year with tc off last year I learned it in few days
I always use traction control. It sucks out the fun. Sometimes a tiny bitbof throttle spins me out for no reason.
Can you do a video about how to start (race) in f1 22?
Put your throttle on around what would be 3 bars on the f1 21 game and estimate it for the 22 game and slowly raise the throttle when the light go out
@@FF-sc2kq i tried this with tc off but its near impossible i spin every time in f1 22 never had it in f1 21
I’m having the same issue. The car spins and lurches left or right. I drove 21 without traction and the starts were one of my strengths
@@degizmomusic2082 lower rpm
Ye a video regarding this would be helpful 😂
Been following your setups for awhile but I was driving with traction control on. Finally turned it off this week and it’s been rough. Remembered you posted this awhile ago and am very thankful to have these tips to fall back on. Thanks!
as a relatively brand new sim driver this video was super helpful! i set a few laps on different tracks with traction control and abs and turns out i’m still about 4s quicker with the assists than without. still got a lot of learning to do and get comfortable but i’m looking forward to watching the gap with myself close :)
This is where I am right now ! It's frustrating at first, but so much more rewarding. Now I don't need to win the race to be happy about my driving !
Thank you for this video, finally somebody explained to me, what changing on diff does, as well as the other settings that help with oversteer! Very helpful
I definitely recommend driving 5 lap races in the rain. It gives you so much more confidence in the car, and I find myself doing much better lap times because I now know when to apply power.
Really keen to try and reduce the number of assists I use this year in F1 on the controller. I’ve looked at a few other videos for tips as I’ve started with Traction Control and some videos have helped. I’ve been using ‘Medium’ TC and been getting used to it but your tips have taken another second off my lap times since switching it off fully! Great video, extremely useful, loved the Controller settings video too. Would love to see something on moving away from automatic gears specifically for controller users too. Cheers.
You can select manual+suggested gear, then you can go into TT and just do a few slow laps so ypu can remember which gears are correct on which part of the track. After getting the muscle memory on down and upshifts you can Apply fine tunes like short shortshifting or engine braking.
After like one or two races I had it down pretty good.
Hope this can help you :)
What’s your set up MG for calibration settings for the controller?
One thing that has worked well for me this year is breaking early and carrying speed in the corner. I drived with heavy breaking and heavy acceleration by repositioning the car on F1 21, but this year oh boy, the acceleration is tough. So with carrying speed in the corners, you can stay in speed 3-4, reposition the car and accelerate.
Could you maybe do a video explaining every setting in the setups? Basically a more in depth setup tutorial?
So glad your F1 videos are back!
Awesome video! Having a lot of issues with race starts. Will you be putting out a video on that?
Can you do a tutorial on getting a good start? (soft, med, hard tyres) and what sort of RPM we should be at? It seems so inconstant!
The first F1 game I’ve ever played was 2010. Got a One S and got 2019. Took a bit to adjust to 2021 but not bad (Only assists I have on are suggested gear which I ignore half the time and braking line for a reference on new tracks). Adjusting for 2022 has been by far the most difficult, as I struggle with the slightest of tire slip sending the car into a slide coming out of corners completely without warning maybe every 30 corners or so (I’m a controller player and when this happens I don’t get any vibration feedback). Came here for some advice to get back on track, thanks bro
Driving in the rain in this game is almost like driving on ice, just wheel spin with the smallest amount of throttle and immediately lock the brakes. I don’t know what Codemasters has done to the physics but it’s seems to have been at the peak in 2020
love your work mate, keep em coming
Thanks very much. Traction Control is the only assist I had turned on. Now I can at least get over that hump
Nice to see in the comments I'm not the only 1 struggling with starts in f1 2022 with no tc much harder that 2021 but more realistic I find
I recommend medium traction setting I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s definitely helped. Had a few spins early on but I’m now putting my car on the limit with it. Not quite ready for switching off yet though 😅
but when u get good with medium then set it to no
traction
I’m so dumb In f1 21 going full throttle when exiting turns didn’t really matter much but in f1 22 I was feeling a big difference with how my car handled such power when exiting the corners and I didn’t know why until I searched for it, im going to practice this all night with no assist. thanks.
Finally someone who really explains stuff Than you!!
This video gave me the impetus to drive with TC and ABS off. Still struggling with stability on corner exit (I play on a controller) but I am getting the hang of it. Bigger issue is lack of speed. I am still way off the pace compared to having ABS and TC on. Need to practice the techniques mentioned here some more.
If u can’t do it I wud jus put tc on medium I play on controller as well and it’s hard to control the throttle so medium works for me and im quick with it
I'm confident driving without traction, however this year I'm struggling with traction from the standing start. Once the lights go out I apply low revs however I just instantly spin. Any advice?
Starts are much tougher this year. Keep the revs low and short shift early. Then try to get as much power down as you can as the AI are fast off the line!
Same bro I be getting pole then I lose five places at the start 😂
Yep, starts are broke. Norris said in F1 21 that the cars have less rear grip than in real life, so codemasters actually went and made it 10x worse in 22'.
I don't know if it's just me but change the diff to 100 on the run upto the grid. Seems to help but might just be in my head
@@Obsolete_E then change it back to its original?
There is also the throttle linearity setting you could play around with, I haven't messed with it as I think I am getting better in a great amount of time but man, I do suffer on race starts
I've watched many of your videos and found them to be very helpful, especially the track set ups.
For those that play console controller, how closely do these relate from those that play with a wheel? I appreciate that some set ups need to be tweaked depending on driving style
I’ve played every game since f1 2010 and I’ve always had medium TC (off on a few) but this year, I’m thinking of going down to full 💀
One reason Traction Control is needed this year (talking controller) is because Codemasters wasn't able to add Trigger Feedback. So there's no way to tell when you're hitting the limit. It's really unplayable atm.
I love ur content it helps me alot
Bro came in clutch again
Traction is harder off slow corners but it kinda balances out because it's sooo easy to rotate the car
I’m comfortable driving without tc or abs but I’m struggling to beat time trials of drivers clearly using tc. When I try to match their acceleration rate I spin out. Everyone says you can be faster without traction control but I feel like assists are still op. I wish they would make a “hardcore” mode in multiplayer with no tc or abs allowed
I mostly learned how to brake and accelerate at the apex of a turn from watching actual F1 races. I notice that they feather the throttle instead of gunning it at the apex because all the power is on the rear tires (I'm American so I don't spell it tyre) so I would emulate that into my own play style. It wasn't until F1 2021 that I started turning off the assists.
Great tips.
so what im hearing is driving without any TC gives you a much better feel for the car - encourages you to learn to drive with smoother inputs and understand where the limits of traction are.
its super frustrating to drive without TC - especailly because im so used to medium TC... I like to mess around with it offline - but when it comes to online - especially when im actually racing someone - i get a bit excited - smooth throttle control goes out the window and then my race is over.. ive been at AI level 70-75 for ages now so I need to try somthing to get improvements.
fantastic video. subbed.
The GOAT is back 😮💨
I raced with no TC last year but this year I have to with full TC on I’m really struggling with it and when I go to time trial to practice I get very frustrated with myself and give up because I keep spinning
Comment form India,i been following u since 1yr 2021 f1 setup helped me aa lot...now i buyed 2002 but not able naile traction as like 2021
Its definitely harder in F1 22.
Hey! I used to be great on F1 21 but on 22 I just keep spinning and i've got no clue why the difference is so high. Got a feeling there's a setting somewhere that I have wrong but just feels awful driving at the moment.
I hopped into time trail on Monza and just kept trying until I finally got a lap in and then repeated until I got 10 clean laps. Took about 2 and half hours but got there in the end
Keep playing and tryto find the sweet throttle steering spot for yourself, It took me about 2-3 hours to not spin in corners and a few more to get faster. Though my friend is still struggling about speed.
F1 2021 I coukd push hard on the medium traction settings but this year I apply tiny bit of throttle and the car just spins out but I feel like it's certain tracks Bahrain it kept spinning out and now Canada on one corner but Baku I managed it perfectly I had back end kick out few times but I was able to manage it and not spin out I did find going onto harder sets that it wouldn't spin out as much also this year the cars feel like they understeer alot to me
Honestly just turn it off and drive as best as you can and you'll never go back. However starting from the grid is the most frustrating thing in the whole game, it's genuinely impossible
My first actual play the series. After finish 1 season Driver-Manager mode, I try to lessen the assist setting. Traction control is the one I never change. I play with Keyboard, to handling the steer in "easy" mode is already challenging. If I have steering wheel, I probably will try learning no-traction-control. Until then ... nope. I'm focus beating AI at hire difficulty level. I'm now getting comfort with AI Level 50. Gonna try higher later.
So far not having a great time with the trial version after 3 hours. The cars in this years game are so much harder to drive. I generally never have such issues with any single seaters or any cars in general. ACC, iRacing, etc all fine but those cars I'm just Mazespining all the time.
Yep same here, just admitted defeat and switched back to full TC after 5 years of using Medium TC.
Cause the physics are garbage and you cant feel the car. You barely get any, if not no feeling that you’re about to spin so you can only learn through guesswork from experience, it sucks
@@ollydavis2495 Yeah, because the trigger feedback is missing (was working fine in F1 20/21)
Thank you . Need some setups bro
Actual lifesaver
Traction control is a lifesaver when using a PS3 controller (i also got it on medium, mainly because the max setting just feels wrong for me
Trying to go from medium to off but can’t seem to get any faster. Feel like I’m too slow on the throttle with it off because I’m trying not to spin, but with medium I can be more aggressive and use more power. Can’t seem to work it out
I find it incredibly hard to turn it off completely for controller. I've tried very hard to make the throttle controllable with the right trigger but always end up being slower than with TC on semi.
I recommend to only use tc in online or racing in time trial though there’s no point in using it as you have perfect tires
I never used traction control last F1 but with this one I can’t seem to get the hang of it I haven’t put it on put I’m also not able to complete a competitive lap together without spinning
Having a really hard time with medium tc in 22. In 21 I was fine with no traction, maybe cause tire temps are lower now so grip isn’t there as fast
on f1 21 i went from all assists (except braking and steering assist) to none, now on f1 22 im doing fine without assists
I'm having the same problem now. No traction control for me I just cannot get used to, I'm just learning how to manage with medium on
Traction is much more on a knife edge this year. If you get just a little too much oversteer or too much throttle the car is going round on you, especially out of slower corners!
@@SimRacingSetups I changed my throttle linearity and I’m so much more comfortable now exiting slow corners. Overall I’m setting better lap times than the beginning, thanks for the tips!
@@andys1548 mind if I ask what you have your throttle linearity set to? I’m slowly getting there with the traction control off but I’m struggling a lot with slower and/or longer corners
All assists off is frustrating at first, but so much more rewarding. Now I don't need to win the race to be happy about my driving !
Used to drive fine on F1 2021 but it’s way harder on the 22 version. Any advice on a Thrustmaster T300 setting?
Just turn traction off and LEARN IT, dont use medium, im learning without it because medium is almost like it was turn off. just think is just faster after you learn!
Would using your race setups make TC off easier as it felt easier on 2020 and 2021 with your setups
On controller should I learn how to use manual gearbox first or zero traction control first ???
And is there a track that would be easier to start on ?
I've played without TC on controller since F1 2020. I can't put a solid lap in in this game to save my life. It is literally impossible.
Ye I recommend medium tc on controller tc off on controller is nearly impossible
I raced traction off last year but this year traction on seems to be really over powered with really strong exits?!
about the diff settings, I'm pretty sure it's the opposite of what you say. The closer you get to 100%, the more the rear wheels can spin at a different speed.
Nice to see someone else having a 32:9 monitor :)
This is the only F1 game that I play with medium assist. I can handle the car in the race, but I have no change at the race start against the AI. They have a lot more grip.
I'm really struggling to get used to no TC on this game. I'm either way to slow out of corners or spinning out. I'm out of ideas and can't seem to find the sweet spot. Any tips?
Medium traction this year, just feels like you have no traction on. I used to medium traction on other f1 games. But this year its too hard. Especially on controller
I’ve been playing without traction and i’ve gotten the no spinning out down buy im so slow. even with a low difficulty setting, i’m slower than everyone else
I’ve learned to stop spinning but how the F do I get faster coz no matter what I lose like 2/3 tenths without TC
I spam short shifting and I don’t spin anymore lmaoo I was getting so mad at first 😂
Please I need help. Even with traction control off, I have this auto acceleration that makes it impossible to start. Even without hitting the pedal I'm already breaking out.
How do I turn that off?
Much appreciated.
I can barely finish in the top 10, my only issue is spinning out on corners even with I slightly apply the throttle, I don’t have the confidence to apply throttle in a corner, thus drastically slowing down my lap times :( I did not have this issue in F1 21
It’s 1000 times easier to use a wheel/ pedals with TC turned off, mainly because of the much greater travel/ range of the accelerator. The trigger travel on a pad is probably 20-30 times shorter, and therefore much harder to find the sweet spots. Also helps to have a wheel for similar reasons - much easier to apply the right amount of opposite steering to a car that’s starting to on-throttle oversteer simply because of the resolution of a wheel compared to a pad.
This years game is a lot more difficult definitely
I just can't get a feel for when the tires are losing grip until its's too late. I adjusted by being giving it less throttle but i end up being slower than when i have TC turned on
Welcome to EA
the extream wheel spin this year is way to much.i have tryed the my team car and co op in the hass with a friend and its just insane... it feels WAY OTT
What is different aero wings from this then last year
How do you use overtake on time trial thanks?
Somehow I've gotten slower turning no traction control of even know I'm slowly going up the gears and full throttle by g4
This year was he first I had to turn up traction control. Everybody say your faster without it yet NO ONE explains why
With tcr you accelerate slower because electronics gimp the performance your top speed is also slower
In some tracks I’m ok but in some I just come out of a corner and the ai just get so much better traction and like 5 cars past me.
Hi guys, hoping someone can help me out.
Can you turn traction control on and off during a race, WITHOUT having to press start, assists and change it in that menu??
So if you had a button on a steering wheel which allows you to do that whilst racing, corner by corner
is this only for wheel or controller as well?
The rain with no traction control is just impossible 😂
I've been using no TC since 2018, always played against 100+ AI yet today I could not keep the f--in thing on track. Wtf? Gotta do hairpins in 4th gear, that's ridiculous...
I heard that the Traction is bugged atm and not as intendet. It should get fixed with the Day one patch.
Heard it in a stream from Marcel kiefer (f1 esports driver for Red bull)
Bugged how?
Still isn’t fixed
@@limposwe nope lol
There's something about the physics that makes it more difficult to drive without traction control. I managed to use medium traction control with a controller the last few games but now I find myself spinning even at on race starts.
I guess that's the 2022 car
It's EA difficulty creep
I feel like I’m slower with it off than with it on might be cuz I’m not confident but what do I do
On controller it’s a lot harder than a wheel got any tips?
Bro my controller it hasn't little or full acceleration. When i press a little bit the rigger it goes full. Please i want help. If someone know please help me🙏🙏🙏
Hey how do you turn off racing line in career mode F1 22 game??? Pls
What about for controller playing as this is difficult
I am now driving with gearbox help and traction control medium, what would you recommend to learn first, drive without traction controll or learn to do the gearbox myself?
definitely manual gearbox first
@@abwk6537 thanks mate!
Without a doubt go for manual gears as you can use different shifting techniques to help make driving without traction control easier
@@SimRacingSetups thanks mate!
Is there even a point in driving without TC on a controller? I mean with a full race setup it makes sense and is intuitive to do but unless you’ve got the hands of a 4 year old it’s hardly enjoyable (in my opinion of course)
Still feel that the traction this year is very odd, other sims with this years car drive easier and even after seeing the pedal cam with Lando Norris in Silverstone if he did the same in the game he would be spinning every corner
How many hours does it take to get used to no TC (roughly ofcourse)? I'm already used to medium TC.
A lot man. It's all about practice.
Am I the only one that finds f1 22 easier to control than f1 2021 now that I got used to it. When I first played f1 22 it was kind of hard to control but I got used to it after a day.
im late so noone will prob reacht, but if you see this, pls help.
Whit traction control onn at the start its just a normal start, no sliding
But with only medium (or off) at the start i start slipping and sliding all of the place, pls help
when i start the race, i try not to immediately go to 100% power, and even when i dont, i keep on spinning out. any help?
be very careful with the throttle
In 2022 i am the king of spinning. Yes it's hard but i have also a lot of fun.
Having fun is the most important part!
I can still get a faster lap WITH traction control on. I don’t get the advantage of turning it off. Other then it’s a fun challenge
Realism and like you say, its more of a challenge. Once you've mastered driving without TC it can be faster than with it enabled.
It's hard to drive with contraction control on medium
I'm having trouble turning with no abs on no tc, everytime I go for a turn I just lock up, any help?
Check out this guide man, might help - simracingsetup.com/f1-2022/how-to-drive-without-abs-in-f1-22/
Break in a straight lline. Have minimal to no turning lock on while breaking so that all of the tyres grip can go to slowing the car down before you turn I to the apex. As you turn into the apex trail the breaks off ass needed and get ready to pick up the throttle again.
With Controller undrivable for me
So hard on controller
👍👍👍
