    What do you think is the better pitch - a curveball or slider?

      I think a curveball is easier but a slider can be better if you can throw it. It depends on if you can make it break. I have a good curveball, so I stick to it, but if you can throw a good slider then it is more effective.

      Yeah, similar locations except for what the 0-2 version looks like

      I see making the decision what to develop first like this:
      +1 for Slider if your primary pitch is inconsistent.
      +1 for Slider if you got "run" on any of your other pitches.
      and
      +1 for Curveball if you rely mostly on Overhand slot throws.
      +1 for Curveball if you don't have a good off-speed pitch yet.

    1. When I throw a 12-6 curve do I have to throw over the top
    2. When I throw a 12-6 curve when I am releasing do I come across my body.
    3. When I throw a 12-6 curve do I let the ball kind of pop-out
    4. When I throw a 12-6 curve do I when do I release it out on top or in front
    5. When I throw a 12-6 curve do I flick my wrist so my palm comes inwards

    I got a question, so I noticed my regular “curve ball” was more of a slurve. I tried changing my arm slot on only curves and I think I can throw a normal 12-6 (it seems better than my slurvey pitch) . My arm slot on the 12-6 curve was really straight up and down but I’m more of a 3/4 slot guy, so is it bad to change arm slots a little for different pitches or should I just stick with the slurve(because of my normal arm slot the curve is more of a slurve).

    My curveball is good, not the best but good. My issue is my arm, it gets worn down a lot, I bet you have some videos for recovery and what to do to save your arm. Could you possibly link me them?

    I've started noticing a trend in MLB of throwing a 1st pitch curve high in the zone, which is nearly always taken for a strike. Can you comment on that strategy?

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  Před 2 lety

      it can work, but its not good to try intentionally. At best, you steal a strike that' no better than any other called strike for a curveball. At worst, you intentionally throw a soft-breaking curveball up in the zone that gets hammered. Little upside with very high downside risk. Good example of something that can work in the Bigs that isn't smart or necessary to do elsewhere

    Hey coach Dan should I throw my curveball hard like a fastball.

    • @thoughtbox6391
      @thoughtbox6391 Před 2 lety +1

      He has mentioned that you should throw all your pitches as hard as you can, especially with the curve as it makes it look more like a 4-seam because of its straighter trajectory.

    What do you think of curveballs thrown for a high strike, or slightly high out of the strike zone?

  • @Quonzer
    @Quonzer Před 2 lety

    Responding to the title, my guess is: Anywhere in the strike zone wherever the batter isn't expecting?

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s not really about expectations; you can’t read the hitter’s mind, anyway.
