I just finished my last radiation treatment last month. Kaiser uses the True Beam machine . There are internet website support groups showing testimonials on cyber knife effects. It's good to educate yourself on what really is out there and what other people say. I'm 62, and I am one of the lucky ones. Very little side effects with exception of the hormone therapy hot flashes which will go away. I wish you all good luck on your decision for lifelong health.

How long will you be taking the Hormone Therapy? Before the treatment. What was your PSA and Gleason Score if you please?

What is the Kaiser True Beam machine, is it different from the cyberknife? And if so, is that the correct name, "True Beam"?

Just completed my five sessions of CyberKnife at UCSF. Side affects are fatigue and bowl/bladder urgency. Not a big deal. Should resolve in a week or so. Taking Flomax but really don't need it too much. Energy is fine as long as I don't push it. Try to stay close to a bathroom for now.
Understand that radiation treatment of the prostate is not necessarily a "cure" as reoccurrence affects 15% to 30% of patients depending on many pre-treatment conditions and factors (gleason score, genetic nature of the cancer etc). You may have erectile issues which can be treated with ED drugs or Trimix injections. Orgasms will be dry. Wishing you all the best with your treatment.

If there happens to be a reoccurrence, can't the patient just go for another treatment?

What was PSA before and after treatment? Could take a few years to determine how effective it was.

I had cyberknife in 2020 treating 3 tumors with gleason score of 6. PSA to start was 13.6 2.5 yrs later it was down to 0.8 which was cose to nothing. Side effects was external burn sensitivity of the anus and a bit of fatigue , I was 57 and super active and in good health. One thing that I think helped was having sex each day after the procedure, even though it was very painful similar to been hit in the nuts, I feel it kept the prostate contracting and helped from hardening up as its been cooked by radiation. 2.5 yrs later my PSA is back to 12.4 now, it suddenly started creeping up i. Feb 2023. I just had a PSMA Pet Scan and have a new tumor hence the increase in PSA. I still dont want surgery and looking at potential new radiotherapy program or focal treatment. Any suggestion would help.
