I won $100K in 2020 just a few weeks before the pandemic and lockdown. After taxes I was left with about $70K I used most of it to pay off my moms home in Toronto so we would always have a home. The rest I put in savings. That was the best day of my life. Nothing like free money.
This makes me sad thinking I was not able to do what you did but instead receiving from my mom even after she passed away. Something I will have to live with for the rest of my life. Your mom really did raise a good person.

I won back in 2018. It changed my life dramatically. I didn't know what to do with the money so I called my family first, the first thing they told me is to hold the money and spend it wisely. I was desperate to spend it, so I spent the $20 that I won on scratch off only to lose it. Changed my life, no gas money no I have to walk home.

Honestly, I don’t think I’d tell anyone in my family for the first day or two, to have an escape plan set in place…you just never know. Only person I trust the most is my mother at my grown age.

I would *NEVER* hire a "financial advisor" or any other thieves 😅
That would be a big mistake. You have to shop around. Ask family, friends who they use. It has to be someone you trust.
Then what would you do?
They will probably steal a portion of it but nothing close to how much you would lose by not having one. You don't need an advisor if you win a few million. But when you are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars, you need to find an advisor.
When you have hundreds of millions, then you are in the big boy club where they have changed the rules so that they can do things legally, where us normal people they would call it tax evasion. You get knowledge of this big boy world by paying people that know how to navigate. They calculate how much tax evasion you can get away with by making it look like tax avoidance which are the legal loop holes that the rich have carved out to save themselves money. They calculate what the downside is if you get caught. Of example, if in the long run, something saved you 1 million dollars, but you got caught on a portion of it and it cost you 100K, you are still 900K richer minus what you pay the advisors.

Don’t lose the ticket
no attorney , no accountant etc handle it yourself
Imagine winning that much. Never have to worry about debt or having to work. You could travel for the rest of your life
1. Establish an LLC
2. Sign the ticket with the LLC's name once its verified
3. Wait for 3 months.
4. During those 3 months, change your phone numbers, email addresses, delete social media and get a disposable phone with a prepaid SIM for private communication OR assign a VOIP phone number.
5. Claim the ticket with a full mask covering the face and wear a suit. It makes it look cool.
6. Don't answer personal questions and keep the interview short.
7. Once the money is in, invest it in Real Estate to get a monthly income (it's a lot of money but you can grow more money with it)
8. Enjoy the rest of the money.
Bonus tips: Don't flex on social media, don't buy things you don't need and keep it simple. That's pretty much it.

LLC is the big thing, thats where the money would go. Then you make yourself an employee of said LLC and give yourself a monthly salary whatever it is. Delete ALL social media (should do it anyway). There are a handfull of states where you can remain annonymous.

Not me; I need this. I have already lost everything in life. I would pay off my mortgage, buy a car, maybe move back into my old house and live humble for the most part. The money would be in my savings account, and I would basically pull in a few hundred thousand a month just off of the saving account's interest. I'm ready for this.

The problem with annuity is inflation. Every year the purchasing power of that money goes down.
You're better off with the lump sum and safely investing it. If correctly invested over 30 years, you'll have more money than the original jackpot.
The thing people dont realize is just one year of the annuity is enough to retire off of. Now that you took the lump sum it is easy to collapse the whole thing.

I mean, it doesn’t sound all that bad, perfect for generational family wealth and 20 million is a lot, but not a super crazy amount that would put you in constant danger. Although if it can’t be transferred when you die, I’d rather take the lump sum because I’m not gonna put much faith in my body, it always disappoints me when I need it most. 😂

I would take the option of the largest payout in the long run that would be payments that way is I spent the first payment then I would receive another one and try to use it wisely which each payment

So essentially they’re telling you to use the money to hire people to help manage it? Why can’t people just open up multiple bank accounts, invest in the stock market, buy cryptocurrency, or invest in real estate opportunities that can be used to make more money? I think any store that sells lottery tickets can verify if it is a winner or not and give you a form to fill out that you can mail in with the signed ticket or take directly to lottery headquarters yourself assuming real jackpot winners really exist.
