Congratulations Joe! Get Log Hauler Jesse’s ideas on the layout of the yard. As your friend, a truck driver and a person that has seen many, many yards he will have great ideas.
As a truck driver, I'd suggest making it a drive-through for the log trucks. They will love you
Go Joe. Grow and Prosper. I am looking for a woodyard, myself. In my area there are few places to buy firewood. There was an old man in the area that sold wood and he passed, so I am told. We are going for bundles and regular firewood. Best of luck and I know you will be very happy with your new wood yard. Go, Grow Joe.
Momma finally said I want my house back. Get your own space 😂😂😂. Congratulations on the new land. It appears perfect! So happy for your success.
Good Morning Joe, and congratulations on your five year anniversary of Ohio Wood Burner LTD. You will look back on life and see the life changes that you made, and be satisfied with your life's ambitions. You actually have a keen business mind and the secret to a good job is that you are happy with what you are doing. Keep up the videos, that is something that you will be able to look back and enjoy your memories.... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Amen!!!
Joe, built a circle driveway for the log trucks. Here ,on my ranch, I get product moved before others, because, semis can pull in, load, pull out very easily. These loads are 105,000#, 4 season access. Once the truckers know your set up correctly, they will want to go to your place first, that's how it works here, they have told me so.
G'day Joe, Don't forget about the two dump trailers, as soon as I saw that igloo I thought he's pulled the trigger on the yard he's been talking about and I immediately imagined it full of logs and processed firewood, never let a chance go by I always say. You could have a separate small yard with street access for bundled wood that would allow you to sell high value high volume small units unattended I think it's a win win 👍.
Much better. Good location, good size and half prepared. All you need is an office and a toilet and you're set.
Congratulations! It's a big step, but, IMHO, the right one. Of course, you will outgrow the little Bobcat tractor and need to get either a skid steer or small wheel loader. And then, of course a bigger processor and perhaps a more automated stacking system. Small steps keep getting bigger! Looking forward to seeing you grow. An old time logger and firewood guy from Colorado, started life near Hinckley, Ohio, not too far from you. Oh yeah, if you wait until mid June I hope to be back in your country to help my aunt celebrate her 101st birthday!
I drove US20 across Indiana and Ohio this weekend.
The amount of mudpit woodyard I saw was amazing.
So seeing this puts you in an entirely different position.
YES, YES, Do it! Way to go, Joe! Wish I could be there to help..
So nice 👍🏼😋! So now it's time for a bigger loader, a bigger feeding table, some shelters, a bigger processor (maybe the big Hakki Pilke?) and so on... Looks fine, Good luck 👍🏼💪🏼!
wow awesome. My guess was going to be getting first full time employee. Wish you could buy the lot or hopefully get a good long lease so you don't get an eviction notice and need to try and move 50 cords+ of wood.
Joe, one suggestion on your layout is to not forget about snow removal. Getting out of the mud will be a huge advantage, plus cleaner logs!
Good point Dale. I have a plan but won't know if it will work until it snows!
Good going, because it's commercial and you can let trucks have 24 hour access that's great flexibility for the trucker and from the looks of everything you'll have a very organized yard. Good luck.
Well done Mr. Ohio Wood Burner! Congratulations on the next level of production Joe!
Kiitos Japan tiimi! En olisi siellä missä olen tänään ilman maailmanluokan konettasi!
No risk, no reward, I am always looking for the next move. You are making it right now!
WOOO HOOO,,,,,CONGRATULATIONS Mr. Ohio Woodburner.....My expertise says BRING IT ON ....OHH YEAH....BRING IT ON.!!!!!!!
lol thanks Mary!
You will need an "In" gate and an "Out" gate for log deliveries if you want to keep Jesse and his buddies really happy. They prefer to drive in, drop off, and go out - no reversing.
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I'm delighted with your news. My first thought was tge security risk for your equipment but you're already on the case in that regard. I agree with you about the risk to your splits. The same point was made to me about my stock of exposed firewood but my retort was that thieves over here look for easier pickings and wouldn't spend the energy nicking it.
Awesome to see you grow Joe! That yard will be a game changer! Can't wait to see it all filled up with wood 🪵 Stay Well 👍👍
Congratulations!! Watching you, I believe you will be quite successful in the new yard!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Congratulations Joe on the new location one suggestion I could give you is use 20' storage containers over the 40 or 53' containers and the reason why is the longer containers the back half end up becoming long term storage and is hard to get supplies and equipment out of. I started with a 53' container at my site for my tree care and landscape business and ended up getting rid of it and I run 4 20' containers now to store equipment in.
I did this in 2010.
Power and internet will work for security cameras linked to your house. Some sort of a bathroom, a office of some type, a trailer hook up for a night watchman / day laborer. 2- 20 foot containers rather than a 40.If it is not locked up it's not insured. A fuel storage container and work shop for spare parts and some tools. A dry cooking wood shed, More covered storage, You may need a fire control system, your local fire dept. will stop by and and tell you what they want. Ya, your going to be busy and hemorrhaging money for awhile. Call the old renters and ask about the neighborhood. Remember ,if you want to get any work done, you will lock the gate behind you..
Thanks Rex. I think you are on target pretty good.
Joe.. Congratulations on the next level of success/production.. Who would have thought you would be sharing this success not only with your family but your ever growing CZcams family..
As you grow, remember both of your parents are smiling as they are watching you..🎉😁👍
Is what I love about OWB! He shares his experiences with us so that we can learn and grow too!
Thanks Dan!
Good morning Joe. Congratulations on the upcoming move. This is very exciting. You need to build a small shed with heat and air to be able to take a break from the elements without having to leave the wood yard. It will also give you a future office if you need one
I agree. That is on the bottom of the list right now. I have a ton of things to do before I can even get the machines move there!
There is a lot of pros and cons here with this set up. Unless this is very secure it’s probably best that you only deliver and not have customers picking up. You don’t want customers stopping by when you are not there.
All the best with the new yard. Even though there is challenges it’s still better than working out of a cubicle.
Go for it Joe! More hoops to keep your product dry would be a good idea. Get well soon. You are in our prayers. Would love to attend the open house, but l am 3,000 miles away. Bless you and your family.
I am very proud of you Joe and happy about your success! you deserve all the best!
Good morning Joe. I would hope that before you put any gates up that you have Jesse & other truckers look at your plan tho get trucks in & out. I used to drive "pots" to pick up & deliver pigs and I found that the last thing any one thought of was getting trucks in and out of the lot. You will save yourself a lot of aggravation to you and your delivery drivers.
Bigger and better!!! Looks great! First purchase is a portapotty lease!
and it can double as my office!
20 Feb '23 - Joe, Good for you! It ! Anytime you start a business it is almost always exciting. God Bless! - - - Guy
Thanks Guy. I hope you've been well buddy
Just a thought if possible make two entries into the yard that way the truck don’t have to back up. They will appreciate it a ton.
Hi, Joe! I’m happy to see u improve the business from small to big! New yard will be your key advantage! God bless u!🤝
Joe I think your on the right path. Good thinking and good luck.
Congratulations Joe, good on you for figuring out your next steps and much success
I’d buy Jessie lunch and get his advice about what that opening in your block wall should look like and where it should be. Making it easy for even the less skilled drivers should help get more logs in. Reno
Looks a really nice place, And the gravel keeps the wood clean, with no mud, and it works safer .
Congratulations Joe- I’m in the same position as you were. I’m out growing my home operation. I really hate to idea of leaving the homestead, but I think I have to. I look forward to seeing your new setup and operation.
Good to hear that a fellow firewood producer is experiencing great business growth!
I will be in the same place in just a few years.. however, my question will be: Do I really want to expand this big.. don't know, but we shall see
Thanks Rich. Stay tuned buddy. I will bring you the good, bad, and ugly!
Wow, congratulations Joe!
So happy for you.
That looks like a super nice site. Big, flat, good solid ground and by the sounds of it a great convenient location.
It's been such a great experience watching you grow. I love the way your mind works and the way you do things.
Keep up the great job, Joe! 👍🏼
Congratulations I wish you all the best in your new yard.
Super excited for you. I've been self-employed for close to 20 years no regrets for me. My customers are great we all win.
Congratulations Joe! This will add opportunities for your business to grow, I have no doubt about it. I was following what you were talking about on your lay out of the yard. If it were me, I would go with 2 gates (entrance / exit) so your log trucks don’t have to back up. By having a loop, the log trucks could enter and unload to the far side of the yard (closest to the highway) and then leave on a circle drive. By having the logs on the perimeter it would allow you several stacks, possibly one for each species of wood (Oak, Maple, Hickory, Beach, Ash, etc). Use Log Hauler Jesse’s truck to figure out your drive aisle and turning radius, and try to plan for a bigger truck someday. Use the middle (in between the entrances) as your #1 stacking yard. A second stacking yard could be located on the SW corner, backing up to a process station for the Axis and trailer parking beyond. The Japa 405 could be set to the NW of the hoop house with the live deck closest to the hoop house. In this orientation you’d be backing trailers up to the conveyor, but you could maximize your usable area. Just a thought though. When I work on projects similar to this I like to take an arial snap shot and then color code / draw over the top using my iPad, this gives me a good visual of what its going to take. After I am satisfied with the layout I use CAD or hand draw it to scale and confirm it works for me or my client. I would be happy to go over your layout in greater detail, in the mean time enjoy your day Around the Yard! - Brent
Awesome upgrade Joe great job. keep your logs up off the stones you know those chains don’t like stones lol. good for you
Congratulations Joe, I'm so happy for your success!
I been watching for almost 2 years and I have been wondering how long until you get your new area because U have been talking about it quite often! Congratulations on the new area! U earned it!
Joe! Awesome! You found an awesome place. Good luck in your adventure. I know you will rake in the green! Can't wait for your open house, I'll be retired by then. God bless.
Be sure and put GPS trackers on all your gear in the new yard. Will not stop the gear from being stolen but give you a chance to track it if it is. Good luck on the new location
you can get a office trailer ( used) and run power to it for a break room/office or in out of the cold. Moving to this lot is a good idea for years to come. Good luck.
Congrats Joe! Looks like you are going to be in a good place going forward! Very happy for you!
Congratulations, looking forward to future videos at the new yard.
You’re the man, Joe! Keep it up! Through perseverance and dedication you can do anything! We’re all proud of you, here for you and support you!
I appreciate that Jeff!
I like how you setup your shot by walking out from your truck, the story helped to seam the new opportunity. Great storytelling!
Thanks H2. I'm glad my idea made sense!
Well done!
This sounds like a great move, Joe. Best to you on this growing adventure and business.
Much appreciated Scott!
Congrats Joe, you will do some amazing things with that wood lot.
Hi Joe!!😀😀
What a fabulous plan for expanding your business!! It is going to be so much better setup than you have now.
Definitely don't be afraid to expand. This is what you have needed for a quiet a while.
Your plan for the setup sounds like a good one so far.
Can't wait to see how it goes!!😀😀
Good luck!! You can do it!!👍👍
Take care my friend!!😀😀 TTYL!!
Logger Al
Congratulations! No doubt that you will make this work amazing. That firm ground to work on will make that worth it on it’s own. Glad to see your company growing.
Thanks Diplo!!
@@ohiowoodburner hey you are going to knock this out of the park!
If at all possible you should look into setting up the yard as a drive thru for the 18 wheelers bringing you logs. It would be a lot better than backing in off the road. Also don't make the entrance to the yard too narrow. The trucks take up a lot of room.
More logs means more trucks and the drivers will have varying skill level.
thats awesome joe! when i noticed you slowly wondering from the truck and saw the open lot i put 2 and 2 together. very happy for you!
Congrats Joe. Well deserved and definitely earned.
Awesome, this will put your business at the next level. Congratulations from MD!
You might want to make a circular drive where the log trucks can come in and just drive around the circle and drop the logs in the middle and drive out. This will eliminate them backing up and making it less likely they hit something or someone. You also should consider putting in a port-a-potty in. Keep your circle drive one way so everything flows the same. Good luck! Don't forget your liability insurance!
Congrats Mr. Ohio Wood Burner best step in expanding the enterprise , wishing you the best . On the other topic no snow , your welcome to come get a load . I seem to have to snowplow or snowblow 6 to 12 inches of snow every 3 days takes 13 hours each time ugh. I hate snow . Again all the best
Absolutely brilliant Joe well done great move
Your the man Joe, You don't take risk you don't get rewarded.
Congrats! Another growth opportunity for Ohio Wood Burner. I know the swamp has been a big concern and and I think this will make your life (and Loghauler Jessie's) a lot easier. I look forward to the next 5 years!
Fingers crossed Cal!
Great choices to make it all work better for you & your customers. Having your home back is going to be good.
thanks Cyndi. I love working from home but it is getting a little junked up! And I HATE people coming by. LOL. I like my privacy
Good for you Joe, looks like it will work nicely. Storage container is an excellent solution for secure storage. With a lock box and a quality lock, the average crook isn't getting in. (I have one!)
Holy cows Joe congratulations!! Boy is this going to be a nice change for you👍👍
Congratz Joe! This yard is looking great! Nice & dry, all you can wish for! Good luck from Belgium!
Thanks for the comment and supporting us from Belgium! Hello Koen from Ohio USA!
Congratulations Joe! I figured something big had to happen when you started limiting sales to keep restaurants afloat.
Congratulations!! That's a huge step for you.
Congratulations,, looking forward for new videos from the new place
Congrats Joe. I'm excited for you and to get to watch the unfolding of the new yard!
Congrats Joe!!! -- On the supportive wife! That's all that matters! (oh, and the new location too!!) Cheers, --J.Andre.
First congratulations joe on five yrs in business 2 you got a great place for the new Ohio wood burner now you need more help great video
You are prob right Bob but for now I have to get busy with the move!
Just my $0.02. 2 driveways 2 gates circle driveway. Trucks drive in dump and drive out. It will also be a lot easier for you with your trailer. No one likes backing up. Make it the easiest spot they deliver logs to, and you will always have lots and lots of logs. Looks like an amazing wood lot.
Looks like that facility will serve you perfectly. It will definitely relieve a little stress for you. Not having to worry about you log deliveries. Keep up the good work!
congrats on the yard Joe! this is going to be huge for you and getting logs in whenever you want.
Thanks Kev. I already have my first load delivered there. LOL. The vid will be up in a week or two. Hope you can still make it buddy. I got some wood that needs stacking!
That is awesome news, that yard looks like something a firewood producer dreams of. I think that’s a good idea keep focusing on delivery, pick up and meeting people adds a whole other layer to the business. I would lean on log hauler Jesse for gate size and place to delivery logs, want to make it easy for the guys with bigger log trucks. I’m seeing a good supply of logs in your future that’s a great move. You don’t need to be an accountant to know that makes a lot of sense. Great deal getting that, good luck Joe.
Congratulations Joe ‼️‼️ onward and upward 👊🙏🏼
You got that right Bill!
Joe, go for it. I bought my first 40 acres when I was 17. My mom said that I may have bitten off more than I could chew. I told her, well, I'll just keep chewing until I can swallow. 45yrs latter, I've turned that 40 acres into 3500, a multi-million dollar successful Agra Business, known world wide. This is a good move for you, and your attitude is in the right place, you got your ducks in a row, now it's time to "kick some ass and take names."
Wow congratulations Joe. Delighted for you. Seems a shame you couldn’t move the hoop house forward so live deck is exposed for loading but the control area was covered from both sun snow and rain. But that yard looks fantastic
Hey Joe, exciting news for your business and the channel! 💪 I got the feeling we will see Scheib again as soon as you're moving into this new location... 😁
Too bad Ohio still didn't come closer to Germany, so I guess I won't be able to attend your open house, but it's definitely a great idea!
Greetings ✌
As with anything in life nothing ventured nothing gained, as the fire wood market is growing in leaps and bounds at the moment. I think you are making the right move.
Congratulations Joe! Wish you continued success - you'll do great!
Thanks so much Gord! You should take a road trip this April!
This looks like a great facility Joe . Jesse gunna be pumped he can get his truck in easily .
Congratulations Joe!!!!
Good move! I say supply the commercial suppliers and don't even deal with the public.
Congratulations Joe !! This is the best looking location for a woodyard ever wow that's awesome buddy I'm so happy for you big exciting things to come !!
Congratulations kind sir. I grew up on a farm so when we baked hay all day on one farm. Then I got to drive the tractor home that was my air conditioning ha ha. Oh that's a Minnesota joke. Congrats on your new venture good luck and God bless. Keep up the good work and videos
Fantastic, Joe!! Such good bones to that site, hoophouse as an option to work out of the weather, love the “racetrack” idea, will make it so much easier for you and the log trucks. FORWARD is a great direction to be heading!
Hey Joe, that's a great space with so much potential, I can see why you're so excited about the future of OWB.
Going to be a lot of work involved to get the yard as you like it but it will pay dividends for you.
Log hauler Jessie will find it so much easier too when he's making his deliveries to you.
Your business has gone from strength to strength and will continue to do so with you as the driving force.
Very best wishes for the future. Best wishes 🇬🇧
thanks for the nice post Paul!
Since dry, seasoned firewood is the key to maximum profits, it only makes sense that more space/access will insure maximum productivity. Good luck!
and no mud!!!
Congratulations Joe.
Congratulations Joe . Its been fun following your growth through different wood processors, factory tours, building roads, and buying miscellaneous equipment over the years. Looking forward to the next chapter in your growth.
Congratulations Ohio Joe!! Cant wait to see what the future woodyard does for your business!
thanks Kevin!
Joe I'm real happy for you looks like you have plenty of room did you ever think about putting in a kiln for drying bundled firewood you could charge more and there would be no bugs in it which is which would be good for your high class clientele also wondering if you could band your cords of wood making it easier to load your trailer with your tractor then just cut the band when you unload it would make it easier to load and unload a cord of wood take care and God bless
I’m excited! You know you could have multiple sources of income there. Especially is summer. I think you should open to public pay your high schooler to man it… mulch, dirt. I bet you could pay your rent just on mulch sales.
