I find it amazing that five months of shoulder to shoulder protests, riots and looting hasn't led to any spike, but two weeks after Sturgis it's 250,000. If you hit a tree in a car and die and they test you and you had corona, you are officially added to the corona death toll. Everybody that dies is automatically tested and if the had it they are put on the list. Tuberculosis kills 1.5 million people every year, but no one freaks out about that. Feel free to look it up to any of the Karen's out there.

My own grandmother died in the middle of a 2 week stretch in which 10 people (in a town of ~1000) in Texas died of Covid in early June. My grandma passed away alone at home and we were never given any cause of death. Her body was found on Saturday afternoon, by Tuesday morning she was in the ground. And we will never know what killed her, but considering that event gave the town one of the highest per-capita covid death rates in the state, it sure is a hell of a coincidence that she died from unknown causes at the exact same time. She was physically healthy, not even on any medication. But they didn't give her as much as a blood test or even a nose swab (which you can still do on a recently deceased body). Nobody wants to put themselves at risk of infection if they don't have to.

Actually last week the CDC revised its numbers to state that only 5,982 people have actually died of Covid-19. It is there in black and white on their website. During and right after the lockdown, the spread was amongst essential workers and the people in their community, but this kind of spread is affecting non-essential workers and people in different communities than before. People in previously unaffected sparsely populated communities are probably getting affected because of this event and events like Trump rallies.
