Every iPhone since the XS supports dual SIM. This feature is very useful for people who are used to carrying around two cell phones for work.
The second SIM card is an eSIM, meaning there's no physical SIM card. Most carriers that support eSIM have apps that make it incredibly easy to sign up for a second cell phone plan.
Note: If you have a 5G iPhone, you'll have to disable one of the lines before you can use 5G.

I like the way you can explain the iPhone quicker than the Apple customer service reps. After sitting on hold for a total of one hour I asked to speak to a technical supervisor. Three different customer service reps all just put me on hold while they looked up the Tip portion of the iPhone so that they could parrot the information back to me. Problem is I had already done all those TIPS.
I have been fighting with ATT for the last year about getting this set up. So thank you so much for making this video. THey sent me a card to scan and it didn't work. Its been so frustrating as I wanted my personal line kept separate from work.

I currently have a work and personal phone on one line. I generally have to answer my work phone 24/7 EXCEPT when I'm on vacation. If I upgrade my phone and get a dual sim, can I turn off my primary line and not get work calls? If I had a second line I could make that personal line and share with anyone I might talk to on vacation. Just trying to figure out how to completely disconnect from work 4 weeks a year...

Good vid.. been using dual sim on XR for a year now. I have found some features to be somewhat primitive and others useful. While not completely bad, Apple still has a way to go to make this a full on replacement for those of us needing a second line/ phone for business.
How do you convert an existing physical sim to a esim account in the same iPhone? I also have T-Mobile. I have the second line from a family member who has the main T-Mobile account and i have the second line in his T-Mobile account.
What about your Apple ID and apps. Do you need the same apple is on both lines

The second SIM card on an iPhone is an eSIM - meaning, it's not a physical SIM card like the first one. It's all electronic. :-) Both work essentially the same way, though.
What about IMessages? Can you use both numbers?
Unfortunately, you can't set up a different ring for each number.
I'm assuming at&t doesn't have a similar app

I wonder why Apple doesn’t provide the latest iPhones with physical dual sim slot for other world but not only for China. Because my iPhone 12 Pro Max which I’ve bought recently in China does have slot for two sims. The sims set on the slot back to back.

Update your phones before doing this. I recently did this and because my phone was outdated it caused problems scanning the qr code to enable the postpaid plans i believed. Also make sure to delete any previous failed attempts. On my first try I was able to add the plan after multiple tries but there was no service even with full bars.

The biggest issue is that you can not have 2 different ring tones depending on which sim the call is coming in

Hey guys - quick question: I currently have a Samsung with 2 physical SIM cards in it - one is a UK SIM, and the other is a Canadian SIM. I am wanting to change over to iPhone, so I'm wondering; is it possible to have a physical SIM, and an eSIM from a *different carrier*? As my 2 SIMs are obviously 2 separate carriers.

No you can’t from my personal experience. The other number calling you will not make any alert. It will go to voicemail if they leave a message

I would think because its not a physical sim that if your phone 📱 is hacked they can piggy back your sim to know everything u do??? Scary
hi i have iphone se 1st gen. battery health is 90% but battery draining very fast. suddenly drops from 80% to 50%, 30% then it shut down..when i try to turn on it shows 40%, 60%,70%..again i use 5 to 10 minutes then its shut downs. what is the problem ? is it battery problem or software ? i have another question. does battery problems affect iphone motherboard ? please answer me.
Did you update your iOS to 14.2? If you did your phone is pretty much shot. There is a time to stop updating and buy a newer used iPhone from Amazon.

Thanks for posting this. While I understand the need for blurring a lot of the private information, it made it really difficult to,follow what you were doing.
What happens is one line is 5 G and the other is not. It they are both on; it shows 5 G. If the one that is supposed to get connected is on by it self, it is 5 G. The phone company activated two lines accidentally for me. Now I'm trying to get rid of one and have the number I'm autopaying on 5 g. This as been a horror story that has take years off my life. At this point I hate I phones. And Apple keeps losing my payment method which I need to download a free APP I need. I haven't been able to use the Apple app store to get my free APP. I'm sick of putting all that info in not to have it saved. .

Ridiculous! Ultra complicated! This must be a joke? Other phones, just stick in two sims, then when selecting a phone number to call, phone asks 1 or 2. Very simple. This iphone dual sim business is like driving London to Edinburgh via Singapore!
