A rare find which will delight anyone interested in medieval history, this country house is a former 'commanderie', the fortified stronghold that was the home for the commander of the Knights Templar in the 12th Century.
In the grounds is evidence of further walls, towers, a presbytery, and the chapel which were all part of the original buildings. The current owners have renovated and enlarged the building to create a beautiful country home.
The house occupies a dominant position, with fabulous views over the surrounding valleys. The interior is impressive: with a grand social space in the original stronghold and a comfortable, more contemporary modern wing with living/dining room and kitchen.

A true dream-house for a historian. And who knows...maybe the famous Templar fortune is hidden under the basement!
It sure is worth investigating, we never know... 😉
¡Qué belleza! Que pena que el video no tenga subtítulos en español, pero las imágenes son encantadoras❤

Just imagine walking those fields. And crossbow on the wall in the bedroom, very handy. You don’t see that much these days.
Hi, yes, pure privilege, knowing that there is a thousand years of history in those walls is simply amazing. When we film such property, we know how lucky we are and can easily imagine that the future owners will probably be someone of great taste.
We owned a slightly smaller but also old - 300 years old - barn near Brantome in the 1990s.
That is really nice, what was it like living in a historical house? 😊
@@LeggettImmobilierProperty Fantastic actually. It was only really a holiday place though, and I spent most of the time deep in old chicken droppings, burning old brambles, and my parents spent their time chasing a dodgy old British estate agent who ripped us off for a few grand! He was a notorious con man who the Perigueux consulate knew all about but couldn't do a thing. Also - getting builders to actually, well build, was a challenge! All very "Peter Mayle"!
Truly a stunning property (apart from the small galley kitchen which doesn't really do justice to the house). A little constructive criticism - neither the video nor website description give any information about things like reliability of electricity supply, water supply in and drainage out (I presume it's a septic tank, doubt that it's mains drainage) and I don't recall internet being mentioned - all quite important to a prospective buyer. Also the video could perhaps be a little longer with more footage of the bathrooms & kitchen from all angles, the apparently numerous outbuidings and the views from the whole circumference of the property. No offence meant at all, but I was left with numerous questions which I felt the video could have answered with a little more planning. A spectacular house though, and the price looks like it's missing a few zeros!
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it and will do our best to keep improving!
all videos mention "hot" but HUMIDITY and August are critical information.
It’s a lovely property for the silly little kitchen lights it down

Meubles à changer en partie, sdb et cuisine mais très belle 😚
Oui, beaucoup de potentiel dans ce bien historique ! Il ne reste qu'à le mettre à votre goût une fois les valises posées 😊
How much ? €. My French family is related to the Les Chevalliers of Ouistreham…I’d love to buy this sucker

When speaking about the space, it is NOT NECESSARY to show the narrators. We appreciate it when we only hear narrator voices and all of the video’s time is spent just panning around, showing details. This video actually does a pretty good job of that. Music also good. Thank you. Lovely amazing old place.
Thank you for your feedback, we are trying out different format to renew ou style a bit so it is always important to is to know what our viewers think of it!
You do prefer that - you. Quite a lot of us enjoyed seeing them.

the ancient part is wonderful, not the new, for me
It usually is one or another with this kind of property - we'll admit we have a coup de coeur for the ancient part as well 😉

ghosts?
Who you gonna call?
How much was this for sale? The tile roof is prone to leak eternally so that is a costly thing to maintain. Once there is water damage, and tile roofs will eventually have water damage, the precious wood is gone and will rot away.
At the end in order to not to loose to much money the roof has to be replaced by an aluminum sheet metal one which never will rust, crack or rot away. That is the reason people have abandoned over here all tile roofs due to eternal leaking problems with water damage. The stone walls are awesome.
For how much such an bulding sells?
I guess (and I hope) it's not allowed to put a metalic shed instead of tiles, it will ruin the style of the historical building
😂😂😂 it’s been there for centuries but sure dude.
You do not have to worry about water damage, these types of roofs have been around for centuries and are built to withstand the forces of nature 😉 This unique historical property is currently for sale for €612,000 - more information here: www.frenchestateagents.com/french-property-for-sale/view/A17792/-for-sale-in-bazas-gironde-aquitaine-france
With a username like that, let me guess: american fixated on german history but has actually zero knowledge?
Mate... you are being rude for no reason.
Love it but the French cannot do kitchens or bathrooms.
The great thing is, if you don't like the kitchen or bathroom that has been created by the current owners, you can change it to suit your taste once you make the property your own 😊
