Your video recalled my memory with IL-2 1946 over 15 years ago, I had no flight joystick but only use keyboard and mouse, very hard in the beginning, then I pushed the keys rapidly to make the flight control easier, and in that age the 1024 x 768 resolution looks very well. Keep going, your videos are so nice.
No joystick? OMG... I was using a joystick playing the old Lucasarts game 'Their Finest Hour: The Battle of Britain', way back in 1990!

Hey~ Sorry for a lengthy Comment in advance, I just wanted to say that I love your content!
I actually found you through CZcamss Algorithm almost 2 years ago, when you uploaded an FW-190 Sortie intercepting B-17s and P-51s over Kassel.
I've been following here and there since my friend group is doing similar things in IL2 1946. I'm a mission builder aswell, probably not as good as you though, but decent, and me and my friends fly 1946, DCS World and even custom made missions in War Thunder using the CDK tool. But 1946 always has a special place in our hearts since it offers so much.
We don't upload anything publically though, we just do it for fun.
Recently, I've been playing with the thought of asking you this, and I figured; Hey why not.
So I'm a Japanese/German native, with my Fathers family coming from Kumano, just north of Kure, and my Mothers family coming from Hamburg, Germany. As such, I can speak both languages. As you can tell I can also speak English fluently. Would you, by any chance, be in need for someone like me to accompany you in your missions? I'd have to switch over to a somewhat stock Ypack and your Zonk mod, as I'm currently using my own, heavily modded VP Modpack game, but that shouldn't be an issue.
I'm mostly interesting in flying Japanese Aircraft personally, but I'm fine with any other nation aswell.
As for timezone, it varies as I'm studying Japanology in Germany, however I am quite often in Japan, due to my family and future being there.
I apologize again for this lengthy Comment, and even if I don't fit in quite well, maybe you can consider doing a mission flying Japanese Aircraft sometime in the future again! (I loved your Ki-84 intercept sortie~)

I can always use pilots. Since you live in Germany, we are frequently in the same time zone. However we don't really do any flying right now. Add me on steam or discord, that will increase the changes that i ask you to fly someday.
I LOVE this iteration of the IL2 series. Personally, I think it's got the best AI of the lot. Sod the "old" graphics, I just care that the AI pilots will, (at least if they're good enough in campaign mode), fly to their strengths.
its a different game engine and developer, so its not really part of the same series, however il2: cliffs of dover is based off this engine though. it's often confused because of game naming.
Been a long time since I have watched one of these, enjoyed it. You know, IL2 GB may have better graphics and sound but it is limited, but '46 gives you so much to play with and such huge battles, it really is a gem. I have always used BAT but I think I will try Ypack.
Plus 1946 has much much better AI, even today.

Although listed as F6F-5s, the Hellcats are actually -3s in -5 livery. The small quarter light windows behind the pilot seat are a dead giveaway.
I did put them as F-5s in the mission. Some 3d issue?
@@Fishyyy Probably. The -3 still had the rounded windscreen, and the two side lights behind the cockpit. In the -5, the windscreen was flat, with integral bullet-proof glass, and the sidelights were omitted (since they contributed almost nothing to rearward visibility). Most -3s were completed with the three-tone camouflage scheme, switching to over-all non-specular sea blue with the -5. So, if the performance of the flight model is accurate, all you have is a rendering issue.
Sure makes the F-6F campaigns in "IL-2 1946" more interesting.

That staggered takeoff is a good idea! They can't see in front of them but if the plane to your side goes then you know you are clear to go.
Love to see this done with bearcats and tiger cats in future be interesting to see how they would fare against late war Japanese types

4k is more realistic than real life. How is that even possible? When viewing a landscape in real life your eyes constantly refocus as you look at different things but on a screen it’s universally focused so you don’t get that refocusing as you scan.

4k video is a two edged sword, thought I was smart downloading Terminator Dark Fate in 4k but you could see all the creases on Linda Hamilton’s turkey neck.
Neat mission fishyy, loads of action and plenty of fish(Jills) in the sea(air), mustve been annoying to have your sight shot out early in the engagement tho. A question:
what things did the Oscar have over the hellcat? Was it still more manoeuvrable or did the hellcat match it in that sense?
oscar probably where one of the more nimble monoplanes during ww2, maybe climb rate but turn and roll i asume is better than hellcats, plus oscars had a more eficient type of flaps (forgot the name) so in a verry slow fight they would have had a huge advantage

All the japanese fighers are more maneuvarable then say Wild/Hell -cats, Corsairs or P-47s/38s etc. Unfortunately for the japanese, maneuverability really isn't what it comes down to.
Nice mission but what were you going to do if you missed the hook? You never went to full power once you contacted the deck.

Now we know what your gunnery problems have been. Maybe you should shoot your gun sights before every engagement, it really seems to help......;)

Getting a bullet in the reflector sight did not seem to affect the accuracy much.
For multiplayer campaigns would you recommend YPack or UP 3.4?

hi, i'm assuming you are using replays to record the content. Whenever I open a replay.trk it comes out as one of 2 things. either the AI acts completely differently to what happened in the dogfight, or it is utterly broken - e.g. rapid acceleration to 15,000 ft and then back again.
could anybody tell me what i'm doing wrong?
You have to use the record key. Replays saved after the mission is done are broken. Singleplayer replays also work worse then multiplayer replays. The replays I use to record the videos are non-host multiplayer replays, created by pressing the record button.

Not sure yet. A lot of mod development has been going on, so I am more or less only doing testing all the time. No real flying.
