Iâm 28, Iâm an electrician and have been one for 9 years now. I have a 18 month little girl. Iâm paying for my wifeâs nursing school with no loans. My truck is paid off, my wifeâs car is paid off. It took lots of weekend working, and last month I bought a 2013 Sportsman 207 Masters. It doesnât have the biggest motor or the fanciest electronics but itâs perfect for us. And itâs a beautiful boat. Everyoneâs finances are different but every family with some sacrifices and hard work can definitely obtain a boat.
And I did this with nothing but a highschool diploma, and a solid work ethic.

I grew up in Floria poor family my dad had a boat 16ft Long boat I fell in love with going out on the water worked really hard now I have 2 off shore boats donât need 2 but thatâs another story I take it to the Bahamas and love it .

Fantastic video, Clay! I went out on Tampa Bay this last weekend and caught mangroves well over the limit and put them all back. Even caught a Lane which surprised me!

Our family loves our boat. We all cut grass do laundry get homework done on Thursday evenings to T-Up boating weekends.

Hog fish has to be one of my favorites. Quite a unique way to fish for sure, thanks for taking us along.

Clay, I use to do a lot of fishing with live crabs, mostly for striped bass and black and red drum fish.
Instead of piercing the shell, we'd rubber banded the crab to the hook, so that the fish had to eat the entire crab with the hook.
My favorite hooks for live bait were Gamakatsu circle hooks. Super sharp and never had a hook break, like I've seen in some other brands.
Sacrilege, living on the water and not being a "Fish Guy" .
Maybe I'll try this next time!
What I meant by the "being a fish guy" is we are selective with the fish we chose to eat. We don't just eat any fish.

I really love the layout of the Pathfinder 2400 Open for fishing so I sold I prime lot I owned and bought the 2400. I had a Boston Whaler 170 Montauk and got it from under it but Iâm having regrets. As much as I love pathfinders layout, trailer, tower, live wells etc. the boat beats the fire out of me, my wife and even my young daughter.
Iâve had it a week and the dealer I bought it from is no help. Iâm hoping itâs human error but Iâve gone out fishing on glass days and canât keep this boat to run smooth on a plane for the life of me. Iâm not a novice, Iâve lived on the water all my life and have has boats since I was 12 and Iâm not 65. I know youâve gone to the Bahamas on your 2400 and Iâm pleading for you to do a video on how you practice boat handling in all conditions of seas.
I was out today and the family is so disappointed weâre considering going to a Whaler 210 Montauk but I will take a huge hit on the pathfinder I just bought. I paid cash and own the boat outright. There are so many pluses for fishing with the pathfinder. There must be something Iâm doing wrong with the Pathfinder. No boat Iâve owned except a Sea Fox and a Carolina Skiff has run as rough as this Pathfinder.

The Babyâs adorable.. I wish we were in the keys, we looked at buying there, but everything was so expensive, we ended up on the west coast in Cape Coral. We have some good fishing in shore, Snook and Red Fish, but have to go out really far to get Mahi, or big fish. Hoping to make a run to the keys from here at some point. Another cool video. ThanksâŠ

Hey Clay, would you recommend owning a boat or Freedom boat club. I'm here in south Florida and on the fence about which would be best. Thanks for any input.
I don't have experience with the boat club. I would say if you see yourself out on the water only a few times a year then why not. Owning a boat has a lot of maintenance etc, so if you don't see yourself using it a lot, then this is a great option.
I live inn massachusetts have a 232 center console. We're looking to upgrade a bigger boat. I wonder if we travel to Florida would it be better price from where we are. ??? Thanks
