    In the summer of 1944, the imminent defeat of Nazi Germany was coming closer every day, although the Germans were willing to fight until the last man. Not just the Nazi leadership realized they were losing the war, but so were their partners. Italy signed a peace treaty with the allied powers in 1943 and in August, one year later, the Romanians, after a coup, switched sides, from the Axis to the Allies. The Hungarians were still part of the Axis Powers, but their regent, Miklos Horthy, had secretly entered peace negotiations with the allies. So.. what do you think the Nazis did in such a dire situation? Probably not kidnap the son of the regent, in order to force a halt to the negotiations, and kidnap the regent himself right after?
    Yeah.. well that’s exactly what the Nazis did.

    I'm amazed he got away disguising as a tourist. What would a tourist want to see in war torn Europe during WWII? "On your right is a concentration camp, on your left you'll see what used to be a village."

    My grandparents were ethnic Germans living in Hungary in the village of Hercegfalva now Mezofalva. Born in Hungary as their parents were. WW2 breaks out and all hell breaks loose. Many WW2 stories and all that happened to be eventually forced to emigrate back to Germany with the enforcement of the Potsdam Agreement which was the removal of 14 million ethnic Germans out of eastern Europe.

    Actually is not really true that there was no fight and bloodshed. Some of the royal guards did not get the order to cease fire, and they actually fought the Germans. The official version was that this skirmish cost the life of 3 Hungarian and 4 German soldiers. But according to Károly Lázár, the guards commander, the Germans had higher casualties, around 20 when one patrull run into a Hungarian machine Gun nest...

      Slight correction: he was a fanatical Nazi til the day he died, a war criminal openly "hiding" in fascist Spain. I'm really sorry if this doesn't jive with the "clean, honorable Wehrmacht" trip you appear to be on, but them's the facts, son. You probably don't much care for Sönke Neitzel, but Deutsche Krieger and Soldaten, for example, are meticulously researched history, and they paint a very, very different picture from what you are suggesting here. Viel Glück!

      @@haeuptlingaberja4927 Slight correction: he was a soldier who fought in the German Special Forces and committed no war crimes whatsoever which is why both American and British soldiers testified in his defense at his trial. Sorry if that doesn't jive with your anti-German tirade which had no sources to back up any of the claims you made. But then your kind of fool never bothers with facts do they?
      If you are not too blind with propagandist rage to learn, here's a book you should read: 'Skorzeny: Ballantine's Illustrated History of the Violent Century - War Leader #11' written by Charles Whiting. Whiting served in the British Army during World War II and wrote over 350 books.

As a family, we choose not to deal with these baseless claims. After all, might is right as they say. The anti-German position will fall the way of Patton and others as time slowly creeps on. Nothing can erase us. Until the last breath, and the last drop of blood as someone once said.

    I would really like to learn about the Grand Mufti, Amin al Husseini. He was a Bosniak Muslim leader who was a Nazi collaborator. I think it’s rather weird that in World War II the Nazis and Arabs roughly had the same goals. Another spectacular video!

    • @HoH
      @HoH  Před 5 lety

      A brief answer that explains the (occasional) Arab-Nazi collaboration can be traced to their common enemies: the Jews (anti semitism), British and French imperialism, and Communism (religion and nationhood were subservient to class solidarity).

    I am very interested in the history of Hungary and their place in history during the war with Germany I am especially curious about certain family bloodlines that actually participated with the Germans and taking them to the trains for deportation to the death camps and such also what happened to their property who got most of the houses and money and did some Hungarians benefit financially and are they still in ownership of these properties or were things returned eventually also was their only choices to either Communism or to Germany ? what else could they have done ? Thank you
