The fact that I grew up on Good Times, am now 52 y/o, and have NEVER heard Ralph's ADULT voice until this very moment, says we, as a collective, are missing out on the spoken word of a great orator. 🗣👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

This is why there's a need for more wholesome, family entertainment in the form of sit-coms. Shows like GOOD TIMES could be re-made to fit the 21st century since there are still people in America who live in poverty. Many families continue to make the best of the bad times and the "good times" in their lives.

Amen! These shows paved the way for sitcoms with predominant black casts through the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Without those shows there never would've been such great shows like The Cosby Show, 227, Amen, Fresh Prince. Martin, Living Single, Roc, My Wife and Kids, Moesha, Everybody Hates Chris etc. These classics are just as relevant and just as funny today. They're timeless!

Willona called his character "Gramps", which given what John and Esther said about not letting him watch the show, made sense. His character was ahead of his age and watching the show would have caused a bit of time confusion. The character was named after the co-creator, and the actor who played Lionel Jefferson - another groundbreaking character.

Sadly we don’t have these kinds of shows on television anymore. It was the definition of love, family and being black. I’m now 44 and my children are in their 20’s and yes they’ve watched every episode and I am glad about it. The music and tv shows today just aren’t the same ughhh. Thank you Mr. Carter and all who were apart of the cast for showing us what unity and family means.
