I really appreciate a car that is an affordable basic form of transportation for people especially for teenager/new drivers. If these were sold in the U.S. I'd buy one of these for my short trips
Exactly what Perodua had in mind - entry level car.
Although US first hand car is more expensive. But it have one of the worst depreciating curve for most common car. So can equally buy second hand car as cheap.
After conversion to SGD, its about $6000. Let's see how many Axia we can get for 1 car in Singapore.

4:30 The 22K Axia comes with a full-sized spare tyre too! Unlike some cars which nowadays don't. I saw one that only has a puncture-mending kit! Which is useless if the damage is at the sidewall, or a tear. That's assuming the driver knows how to plug the leak - a link to an online How-to is it?! Plus, must have a mobile pump too.
Can manufacturers/distributors revert to the proven standard practice from decades ago and include a spare tyre please? Or maybe the government - JPJ especially - should insist that all vehicles must come with a spare tyre. If manufacturers want to "save space and weight", do this somewhere else. What next then with this "saving" - no more rear passenger seat?

Yeah I was disappointed when there's no rear wiper. That's very dangerous in rainy days as your rear window visibility will be completly block off. The rpm meter should also at least be there since it's a manual. What I don't like the most is there's no ABS. ABS should be standard nowadays no matter how cheap the car is.
It seem like they do not care about safety at all when designing this varient, They put just enough satefy in it to barely pass the laws

Worth buying but to those who only understand using automatic gear then this manual gear will be a problem. But manual gear can give you a very good pick up during gear changing and also godd fuel saving consumption.

That's one lest worry free 'old school' car in term of maintenance, assuming electronic control component limited to fuel injection only for this car? Reliability is so-so maybe but shd be a long term win for usability imo.

whew.. such a close call. i bought mine 2020 at 23k and sold it recently at 22k and made some profit out of it. if i am a bit later that wouldnt be possible.btw mytukar did quote mine at 20k.

Uncle Khong, I think my axia e spec came with Silverstone tyres when I collected my unit in Dec 2017. I think it retailed for around rm23k thereabout when I bought it new. I would say it's the best of hassle free cheap motoring. Nothing out there compares. Now at rm22k it's a steal. I would recommend it to first time vehicle owners or even veterans. Mine is still running strong at over 70k km in 5 1/2 years. Only pet peeve is the fact that the throttle by wire is annoying with the lackluster throttle feel. There is delay during initial acceleration usually from standstill and rev hang when letting off the throttle after hard acceleration to upshift.

Have you had the chance to take an e spec out for a spin? It's no so prevalent in the models fitted with the 4 speed auto. But very noticeable in the manual transmissioned cars. I've driven my friend's manual axia as well and it's the same.
Had this same rev hang delay feeling too when I test drove the satria neo manual last time. End up keeping my old satria 1.6M which was way better.
I appreciate the sentiments for this very low priced car for the lower income masses. However, wouldn't it be better to upgrade the public transport facilities in cities like KL or Georgetown. Allowing the lower income to switch from motorcycles to cars, can only lead to an increase in the traffic jams now so prevalent on the roads. It would have been much better to prioritise public transport for so many more valid reasons, not least that it would ensure that we lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and help preserve the environment for our future.
Good point, but we will leave the infrastructure plans to the relevant authorities.
We are car reviewers, so we will stick to reviewing cars, and not fight battles outside of our domain.
However, I do agree that public transport does need constant upgrading, eitger by the puclic sector or by encouraging entrepreneurs in the private sector to invest amd help develop such facilities.

almost all perodua car have a high RS value regarding of what model / year etc .
Tak banyak beza, dalam mileage 55k and above, auto, e spec, ada abs, rear wiper and auto flip mirror dan rim bukan kompang. Dalam 22k ke atas for 2nd hand market.

Speaking about having no ABS, I remember the time when my family's old Kancil 850 got involved in minor crash. I slammed on the brakes really hard while trying to avoid a car, but my car didn't slow at all. Ended up with a bended fender on the driver's side, bended rims and damaged driveshaft

This looks the same as a Toyota wigo Daihatsu platform just rebranded Perodua and alot more basic. The wigo here comes with more options and tax here comes out to 565k PHP base model compared to this basic one for 265k PHP new. Shame they don't sell this basic one here in Philippines

Lets give Perodua some ideas on what else to cut, maybe to make it reach sub-RM20k
- Power Windows
- Spare Tire
- Metallic Paint
- Projector headlamps (These cost quite a bit)
- All forms of insulation (track car esque)
- Bulb type rear taillamp
Can omit also fuel gauge, only warning light.
In my opinion I think why perodua need to use the led on the rear light because they have left some old stock on there and save cost to redesigned
