- Dudek chocholatý (Upupa epops) je u nás vzácný, ustupující druh. Potravu sbírá převážně na zemi a to velký hmyz, pavouky, červy, plže ale také ještěrky. Hnízdí v dutých stromech nízko nad zemí, také využívá budky.
Dudek chocholatý (Upupa epops) patří do řádu Srostloprstí spolu s Ledňáčkem říčním (Alcedo atthis), Vlhou pestrou (Merops apiaster) a Mandelíkem hajním (Coracias garrulus).

👍 #34 I love Hoopoes and have never seen any in the UK but I watched several at the Albufera Nature Reserve in Mallorca last season. For me, they are one of the most beautiful looking birds. I loved every scene and don't they show well against the grass! I found it almost impossible to capture one in flight as I was filming on the ground or in a tree. I love this Jarmila and it brought back happy memories. ◕‿◕

One of my third favorite bird species, this is a really common species in UAE. I mostly see them at parks, and my latest sight of a hoopoe was actually at Mid February 2020, which is two months before now. I missed this bird very much during my quarantine and now I have got to see the video of a hoopoe from yours. This was a truly magnificent sight! I hope hoopoes are still thriving in your area.
