I.m from the far north east of England in the predominantly white City of Sunderland but quite a lot of people back in the day we used to listen to a lot of Jamaican skinhead music, lots of ska and twotone and British reggae artists Bob Marley though he was the king of reggae. Then hip hop raised its profile from NY streets to the world and i thought it was cool, then the west coast scene was being played everywhere but d'ya know what lads even though we were far behind i always love that London sound. I used to listen to silver bullet i still do he was mint and rebel mc, General Levi, Tippa Irie and Smiley Culture God rest his soul i loved all the London artists in all categories of music.It was hard for people to get hold of in sunderland in them days but see i had family on Dads side from Hackney and leyton and Walthamstow areas. Maggie Thatcher destroyed my area and it was fucking bad unemployment, crime and high rate of alcoholism we became No.1 high violent crime area in Europe they called our area on BBC news Bandit country people were dieing everywhere man i lost good mates many tears shed for my troops i will love em forever. Football hooliganism and football itself and music, puff and beer were my only escape.But i got sick of seeing friends one day and gone the next, prison was tough in them days very violent and screws were fucking psycho's not like today no way prison is to soft today anyway i left all that behind me and went to live in London when i was 19 nearly 20 got work straight away in walthamstow i fucking loved it all them independent record vinyl shops what the young DJs andMCs used got all my best music from there. I just wanted to say that this drill scene in London is fucking class fuck Chicago gangsters ripping you up there style is all about the beat and the jump around fucking jumping up and down WTF. London is all class A lyrics lyric after Lyric i love it and the fucking accent is the best . Fuck. This is my first taste of UK Drill after having been into Chicago Drill for a few years. This shit goes hard. Reminds me of earlier drum n bass a little production wise. And how TF is that Americans can't understand UK rappers? Shit man. It aint that hard to understand, Jesus. Big Jamaican influence in the vocals but if you know your black British music thats to be expected, aint no surprise.
nah this shit cant compare to the real Chicago drill shit its different, its dudes using the Chiraq style to try and blow... It's unoriginal and not even close to as turnt as real drill music.. what made actual drill music appealing to the masses was how much fun the real drillaz were having wit it and the fact they were REALLY in an *active* warzone not set up for attention and fame, it was *real/organic* unlike any other type of "drill" which was made literally as a carbon copy. Yeah theres a 1-2 standout songs or verses in this mix, but for the most part this shit is *Weak asf* and too tryhard-ish.
@@50centricher9 not really like yeah it’s inspired and influenced by chicago, but they took the template and made it theirs by making their beats, using their own slang, and focusing more on lyrics and flows. And it’s an underground scene that has its own merits while still being different from that of Chicago. Chicago is always the original and will always be one of if not the best drill scene but the uk definitely deserves to at least be second right after chicago
