Another behind-the-scenes fact: Mirabel's voice during scratch recordings, before the film's final voice cast was hired, was provided by Sarah-Nicole Robles, who may have made a cameo in the final film as Señora Ozma, but will always be remembered by Disney fans as the voice of Luz Noceda in "The Owl House".

How in the Hello does Lin-Manuel Miranda write such amazing songs for these kinds of movies/musicals? They are ALWAYS promising, emotional, inspiring, and NEVER disappointing.
I love that everyone's power reflects their personalities. Luisa is strong because she wants to be of service, Isabela makes plants because she loves botany, Antonio speaks to animals because he loves them, and Dolores hears sounds because she's inquisitive. Also, Mirabel never received a gift because she is already compassionate and dedicated to helping her loved ones.

@@Cl0verIeafXD I think that's the lazy theory. Her gift was to come later which was bringing the miracle back, and her family still have their powers. Bruno's prophecy was still right. It just wasn't her time yet.

Honestly if they make a show they could introduce the other lost characters as cousins as we don't know if Abuela had sisters or brothers same with Pedro it could show that they were separated during the war and more Encanto were made around.

I also come from a big family, so I feel like Encanto is loosely based on my life! This is definitely one of those movies that I'll be showing to my future kids!
My theory is that Mirabel didn't get a gift because the Casita knew that the family was heading in the wrong direction and chose Mirabel to help them and didn't give her a gift because otherwise she wouldn't see the problem as she would be to busy following the expectations of a Madrigal. So on turn by not giving Mirabel a gift technically gave her the gift of empathy, compassion, and understanding. But overall maybe the reason Mirabel didn't get a gift is because......she just didn't. Sometimes there are no explanations for things.
Something else along the same vein. When Mirabel turned 5, she was the youngest Madrigal, and it was reasonable to assume that there would not be any others until the grandkids had kids, which was several years in the future (Isabella, the eldest grandkid, was 11 at the time). Alma was in her mid-60's as well. Someone needed to be "chosen" to carry on the family's magic after Alma's death, and MIrabel seemed to have the right attributes.

Here's another one: this isn't the first time Olga Merediz portrays an Abuela for Lin-Manuel Miranda as she is Abuela Claudia from In The Heights (both stage AND movie)

The thing about Bruno's name being changed from Oscar.. well when I heard the title of the song "We don't talk about Bruno" I actually laughed because that made me think about the Pixar film Luca due to the name that Alberto gives to the negative voice in his head that tells you you can't do that. He taught Luca how to be more courageous by saying "Silencio Bruno" Some viewers that Bruno in the world of Luca is actually the name of someone that Alberto doesn't want to talk about.
So you can see why at first glance "We Don't Talk About Bruno" would be something Alberto would agree with....at first.

Somehow, "We Don't Talk About Oscar" doesn't have quite the same ring as "We Don't Talk About Bruno".
My favourite characters in the movie are Luisa, Dolores, Camilo, Bruno, Pepa and Julieta
My favorite line in “What Else Can I Do” is “a hurricane of Jacarandas” 🥰 I don’t know why.. I just love it

One of my favorite moments is when Pepa says "the name we do not speak" and she covers Antonio's teddy's ears. I would totally buy Antonio's teddy, it's so cute

Definitely, my favourite song is Carlos Vives' one. I know Lin-Manuel wrote it, but that song is the most Colombian to me. It reminded me of the 90s when Colombia exported its music throughout Latin America.
Another hilarious behind the scenes fact: Bruno unintentionally mocks Let It Go losing to his song in the final song before the end credits, there being no way anyone could've known it would end up that way when the lyrics were originally written

Gotta love the ol’ opposites attract subplot. Isa and Gubo would have been perfect together. I can see it now. She feels like she has to act perfect, but he doesn’t need her to be perfect, just herself, and she loves him for letting her be imperfect and finds tons of things about him personally to adore, too.
