      +Johnny G - That's absolutely wonderful to hear! If you'd lke to explore this genre of music further, I can definitely recommend Tangerine Deam's work. The Rubycon album, in particular, is a masterpiece in my humble opinion - even if it's a bit more experimental than this. Cheers!

    I'm a 73 year old retired classically trained dancer of ballet, and all of my adult life has been spent with the classical composers of our ages. And I have been listening to music of the continuum for that last 25, I truly believe that much of this music is the next generation of such composers as Bach,Handel,Beethoven etc,and Schulze being one of the masters.

    • @mozartmike
      @mozartmike Před 4 lety +18

      @mark heyne Mark,
      I finished my career in classical dance,as the artistic director of the Minnesota State Ballet Company,and as a part of that position I choreographed many new works. So with that being said,to answer the first part of your questions,I did do some works based on his music. And while MS might not be the easiest of composer's to work with,I think that I can say without a doubt that not only did the company enjoy putting dance to his music,but the audience's who attended those performances throughly enjoyed the interpretation.
      Now I have choreographed works based on the music of many electronic composer's of our time,and as i said earlier that though his music isn't always the easiest to work with,what tells the choreographer the success or failure is the reaction of the audience and the dancers themselves. Personally I found his work to be extremely satisfying to use.

      Yes Michael, agree totally. I am 62 yrs old, and have listened to Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, and others of that genre since 17/18 yrs old. Their music never gets old, and yes it is like classical music in it`s own way, bringing out emotions, and telling a story, a different story to every listener.

      The problem is that KS offers us large-scale works and these bring certain expectations as regards structure and development. Classical composers invented structures based on key relationships, the music moving from a home key to a related key, exploiting the major/minor tension and so on. Most popular music composers write short songs and when they attempt something "symphonic", their lack of training in musical structures lets them down - everything meanders or simply stays static. Possible exceptions to the rule are Mike Oldfield on early albums like Ommadawn, Yes on Close to the Edge (but not much else) and Tangerine Dream when guided by J Schmoelling, who has some classical training. I suspect some writers of shorter songs also have these skills e.g. Lennon and McCartney, Beach Boys, Prefab Sprout. There will be others but I don't think KS is one of them. 22 minutes into this album (I gave up after that) he is still using the same very restricted chord sequence as at the opening. (Very similar to chords I remember from Dig It by KS, so not even new😀).The only variety lies in the instrumentation. So it sounds great for five minutes or so but cannot develop. Repetition substitutes poorly for development. JSB, WAM, LvB and their inheritors would never have tried on such a scam

    I quite like this in a strange sort of way. It matches the mood I am in at the moment. I have read a lot of the comments and my goodness there is an awful lot of bollocks being spoken about this man. Even though I quite like it I can't imagine listening to it in preference to all else. There's reams of this sort of stuff out there. So much to hear, so little time to do it in.

    A mis 97 años, he visto de todo, escuchado mucho de todo, he dicho de todo, pero este trabajo deja resumido toda esta vida de altos y bajos, vangelis, jarre, tomita, luc ponti, parsons, anderson, debieran aprender un poco de la humuildad de este sr. de la música.

    Absolutely fantastic, like all music from Schulze. I wonder if he incorporated a real guitar, like the one playing around the 30th. minute, or if he does that himself with his keyboards. Either way, just fantastic.
