I ordered and received one of the last 96's sold, rec'd in August 96. here are two differences with mine. One, the idler pully must be pried up to loosen. I took it off with a pry bar which kept slipping off so when putting back on I used a medium size pair of water pump pliers which worked much better. You also might be able to use a good size adjustable wrench or pipe wrench. Two. the long bolt that holds the alternator in place was installed backwards at the factory. This made it much more difficult to remove as the bolt had to be removed from the wrong side where there is stuff in the way. It can be done with a lot of pushing, shoving, disconnecting and minor bending but it takes a bit longer to accomplish all this. Just for your info, you can't remove the aluminum bracket that the alternator mounts on as the 4th and last bolt is hidden under the alternator. Also, it was almost impossible to remove the double ended stud that holds the back brace on and in my case it had to be removed before I could remove the alternator. I had to hammer a tight ½"open end wrench on to the nut and then extend the wrench length with a pipe to be able to apply enough pressure to loosen and remove the stud. I didn't have a new belt so I replaced the old one. I did see cracks in the belt so I am getting a new belt to replace it. (It is 26 years old, with about 85,000 miles).
