- It's been about a month since I did a reading vlog so I gave it a try again this week! Moving forward I promise to try to be more clear and concise with my book thoughts. Read some women in translation and really it was a week full of exceptional writing. And a lot of wine pouring.

I looooove your vlogs. So calming and such a gorg aesthetic. I can’t believe I’ve not read Melchor STILL! I need to, I have both of them. Creature sounds great.
Simon! Thank you so much xxxxx you’ve gotta give Melchior a read (when you feel like it’s the right time for you, emotionally as well.) loved Creature! Hugs!
Pure joy, thank you Ben. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on A History of My Brief Body. As for recipes, of course the queen that is Carla Lalli Music must be mentioned, her recipe videos are joy in themselves. But I have to say you really can't go wrong with Nigel Slater. Aside from being a stunning writer, his recipes are brilliant. This year I've come to really appreciate his style of cooking which is incredibly simple and comforting but also very elegant, I think. In a similar vein The Guardian is a great resource for recipes online too (Slater writes for them along side other great chefs). x
the most beautiful of vlogs (as per). thank you for reminding me that i absolutely need to read some amina cain! and i love our little book club, it makes me so happy to have you there!! 🤍🦋
I love to cook but don't often because we have a dreadful tiny kitchen with no countertop and it's just me so can't be bothered but I do like the cookbooks of a British guy called Miguel Barclay AKA the One Pound Chef. Cheap and easy meals but often surprisingly tasty.
You have the best best best energy my b 💛 I completely echo your thoughts on Hurricane Season! Such a gnarly reading experience that’s certainly one of a kind.
Ugh I can’t get over how lovely this vlog was, just what I needed to wind down, luuuv u
Also creature sounds so intriguing, I waaaant 😻
I haven't read Hurricane Season, but I just finished Paradais. It makes me more curious and interested in Hurricane Season. In Paradais, she focuses on one point of view and what you are describing about reading her book is totally the same. It makes it hard for you to not put down the book (I put the book down many times but her writing makes you keep going to finish it). Paradais is sooo difficult to read. It's hyper -masculine, pornographic (especially in the beginning), misognistic, demeaning, and how she ends it in the last page leaves you speechless and holding your breath. Sobering. I don't know I wouldn't really recommend either lol.
Ah! Amina Cain! I have Creature checked out from the library right now, excited to get to it.
it's nice to see a vlog from your beautiful apartment again! I should pick up Leanne Betasamosake Simpson and Amina Cain
Almost halfway through Noopiming and it is so interesting and very beautiful. Love Cain!
damn that wine bottle sure gotta lot of sass 😭 def need to get on Hurricane Season bc it seems to exhaust ppl emotionally and i'm SO READY for my 9 hrs of sleep 😌
Yelling “I’m vlogging” to your partner because they think you’re talking to them. Such a recurring theme in our house.
Dear Ben, it’s so good hear from you. Definitely going to put Hurricane Season on my to read pile. I suggest checking Paola Carosella’s videos here, on CZcams. She’s a wonderful Argentine chef. Lots of love, Patti 🤍
I liked Paradais even more than Hurricane Season!
Ooooo now I am SO curious!
