It's true though. People like an underdog and he's won so much that lots of people root for the other person. It's not that they dislike Leo necessarily, they just like seeing an upset.

It was the most painful hype I’ve ever had. I was really hoping for Leo to take that 3rd straight Genesis. Smash 4 made me a big fan, and I was so excited to see him at the top in Ultimate.
It really shows that a close match is more than a stock lead or a game lead.
@@quadZ_z def more hype because you can tell these two were at peak performance and the 3-0 despite the look on paper was actually insanely closer watching it and the Nairo/light set was like a meme almost with how bad Light choked like if it was those two at their best I’d agree but you should watch Marss analyze that set and you’d feel the same
it's really nice seeing Marss being vulnerable and sincere. i know he's a troll at heart, but we love someone in touch will all ranges of emotions.
He even admitted ZSS is good, and you see himself wince at the realization he blew up his troll narrative of "ZSS is trash"
12:50 Damn that got me choked up. That set is my all time favorite set of Smash, and it made me a huge fan of Marss. I dont blame him for steering more towards content creation. But man, I miss seeing him in top 8s. No one else could throttle Zero Suit like he could.
Man, seeing that fire in his eyes and the determination on his face after taking game one brought back all the feelings from that set. I miss seeing that in him, but I love his content so much, and I'm glad he's happy doing what he does

Loved seeing the emotional side of Marss. Usually he’s a jokester and I love that about him, but seeing him remember that passion to be the best was beautiful.

I really like his take on that. Game 4 Leo is real if you believe it's real. If you let it get into your head and psyche you out, then Leo WILL capitalize on that. But if you keep your composure and don't let the nerves get to you, then game 4 is just another game. He doesn't suddenly power up for it.
This is one of the greatest behind the scenes/documentary videos I’ve seen in esports. The combination of highlighting a major match in Ultimate history and getting to hear the guys talk through each part in such depth was so awesome to watch! Thank you for the first episode Metafy can’t wait to watch more!
These two were THE rivalry pre pandemic for me. Two most entertaining and skilled players always delivered in their sets
We love our content creator! I do miss top player marss but im glad he's happy and we always have this set to look back on, plus it's still so fun to watch him play when he does enter a bracket
Spitting facts
I love that they level with each other so well. They're around the same age, both with a lot of experience and knowledge. What a cool pairing, and what a legendary set
I haven't seen any other content with the two of them together outside of tournament sets, so this was cool to see for sure. They both have great senses of humor that are different but they play off each other well. I'd like to see more variety content with the two of them

Marss' ZSS has that "it" factor. It's a character made for the way he plays. Not every top player has that with their character, even though they perform well. I don't really know how to describe what I'm talking about but I'm sure most of you get it.
I know exactly what you mean, and I always think of Cosmos, I love Cosmos, he’s a great dude and an awesome player, but I don’t think of his Aegis as it being an extension of him, it’s just a good character that he plays.
yep Leo's joker and byleth, zombas rob, light's fox, marss' zss, spargo's cloud all seem like an extension of themselves, noone plays those characters the way they do, their personalities exude out of their characters, almost like the characters are their stands
Marss: "I thought what was unreal was how good I was playing especially towards the end."
Leo: "I feel like at the end it wasn't really about who won the game but it was about playing good ultimate, that's what people like."
Leo's mentality about the game is inspiring to me. He's truly a man of the people, even if the crowds sometimes want the underdog to beat him. He just wants top quality competition. And he caters to the viewers too by playing such a variety of characters, going for risky offstage play, making insane hard reads, and making content for both English and Spanish speaking audiences. And despite playing so many different characters, he never plays lame strategies that aren't fun to watch. It's always hype when he's on screen. Recently he even said he doesn't want Steve banned, and the reason he gave is because he wants to beat Acola at his best. I respect the hell out that, even though I personally side with the Steve ban. Leo is the goat of Ultimate hands down, and I don't think he could be so good and consistent if he didn't have such a champion mindset.
Competitive Marss was my all-time FAVORITE to watch, mans went INSANE back in the day.
It's cool to see that marss and Leo are super chill and down to earth people playing a game they love
On a more serious note, I very much miss when marss was top 5. He was one of Leo's best rivals and one of the funnest players to watch.
I'm just glad that at this point, Marss is happy doing what he does and comes out now and then to compete. If he wants or wanted to be top 5 again, then he can.
Marss doesn't believe in game 4 Leo because he didn't let Leo get to game 4 lol
There's just something about Marss that just makes it so satisfying to see him win. I think when he wins, he just naturally wins with style and killer instinct simultaneously.

Honestly, Ultimate needs more of this type of content. Melee has so many awesome story lines, rivalries, villain arcs, redemption arcs, etc. I don't even play Melee, but I keep up with the competitive scene and various Melee content on CZcams because of how immersive and hype the players and history are. Obviously Melee has the advantage of being around for 20 years on that front, but Ultimate could benefit from more interpersonal stuff like this from the players. It's really cool how Marss and Leo respect the hell out of each other as competitors, but are able to joke around and talk shit too. It feels like that type of energy is mostly missing from the Ult. scene, but I'm definitely here for it!

This was really well done looking forward to future episodes. Two of my favorite players to watch. Some of the best smash ultimate I've ever seen was when these two competitors were battling at the top.

The respect and admiration between these two players and the explosive element of their games together is the reason that I love smash. The emotion and the hug after the set, the admiration and mutual respect is something that is so rare among top players in video games. Love to see it, all love to both of these incredible guys.

It's crazy that the pinnacle of people's life in smash is always against MKleo. But for Leo as these years go by it's just the current competitor playing out of their mind at the apex of their game trying to be in his spot for a moment. He just lives at that level. He is the measuring stick that excellence is gauged and Quantified by.

Although I'm always rooting for whoever Leo is playing against, there's always a large part of me that wants to see him do well and win. I respect the work he's put in and I also respect him as a person. Nobody deserves to win it more than he does.
