    For Coach Jerod: I feel you were explaining my tennis journey with your rackets lol. I used to looove the 2012 pure drive 100 back in the day (roddick and Li Na used them). Felt I could hit anywhere with power and pop; besides my one-hand backhand. Good combo of pop and feel! After some years I switched to the 2017 model; it was good but something was missing. THEN I tried the V7 Blade 16x19. Man that racket was good. I know you guys said before it had countervail in the v8 video, but it doesnt. V7 has so much pop, control, touch, depth, and plow. Most of all plushy soft feel. Later on, I tried the new pure drive, bunch of yonexes like ezones and vcores, and even technifibres. Even the Yonex DR 98. I ALWAYS steered back to the good ole reliable blade V7. Coach Jerod I think you should give the Blade V7 16x19 another shot. I have mine strung with Luxilon 4g @ 48 lbs. I’m minimum 4.0 player. They dont make many rackets like this blade. Being the weight it is with a swingweight of 331! New V8 doesn’t have that. I havent needed to customize mine at all! I feel this is the magic racket companies need to copy. I’ve accepted my fate now no matter how many cool new rackets come out. The blade V7 16x19 is my racket. Give it another shot Coach Jerod!

    after several years playing with Yonex VCore 95, I managed to buy Yonex Regna 98. Strung it last night with Gut @52 on Mains and Toroline Caviar @52 on Crosses. And have to say, the feel is amazing. Enjoyed playing today a lot with it. It felt like the perfect racquet.
    Not sure how the long the honeymoon will last, but hope it will continue. Right now the plan is to use Regna 98 as primary racquet for foreseeable future.
    It reminds me a lot of RD 7 from the early 2000, just built with modern technology

    I shoud agree with coach Rob. I'm still using the first iteration PSC 6.1 95 in 18x20. Got an unique plowtrought due the 370gr+ and the 31cm balance strung. I got the chance to test PS 97 v13 and it's pretty similar to the 1995 version I have, only pro far lighter than the first iteration with different balance due the reduced weight, more access to spin, non the same plowtrought. This Is why I choose to pair my PSC with a Boom Pro as the PS97 seems like a lighter clone of PS 6.1 95 and I willing to try something different to improve my forehand technique in a more modern way.
    I shoud say Wilson Is doing a wonderful job in keeping pro staff alive as is a very unique racquets with a rough feel and tons of control, manouvrabilty, stability and touch. 0:01

    I use the Angell TC95. I did use the Volkl power bridge 10. I wanted something like that racket but lighter and the 310 TC95 had the same soft feel with a little more power. Been using them for 5 years now.

    Can you make a video with 3 racquets from different brands but from the same category of control, spin or power (eg. Dunlop CX/Head Prestige/Wilson PS). Cover up the racquet with double sided tape or something so the testers don't know what they're hitting with and then see which one is their favorite?

    A racket is perfect to me if: 1) my arm, wrist, elbow and shoulder don´t hurt. 2) the racket lets me hit all the shots I want to play with the depth, spin and power I intend. Only 2 things, but very difficult to get in the same racket.

    I love the feel of the Mantis line of racquets but they are so hard to find in the USA. I don't know of any tennis shops selling this small brand currently. Tracking there is a Mantis USA website with David Carl as CFO but he has limited/old stock. Most of what I can find online is used eBay or old overstock Mantis 250 CS II or Tour 305. I have seen Mantis Pro 275/295/310 III, Performa 260 and Xenon racquets but they are probably for the European market. Does Mantis tennis still produce racquets in the UK? Understand Mantis is a small tennis company that cannot compete with the likes of Wilson, Babolat, Head, or Prince. As an aside, I also like the Volkl C10 Pro racquet. Happy New Year everyone!

  • @movdqa
    @movdqa Před 7 měsíci +1

    I watched the two players hitting and they seemed to hit fine with all of the frames. My approach is to buy a frame on specs and just get used to the racquet and try to use it forever. My current frames are for 2010/2011. It took my about 9 months to get completely comfortable with it. I had trouble getting the ball over the net the first time I hit with it.

    • @meinsouza
      @meinsouza Před 7 měsíci

      i agree, especially when you think that all rackets are customisable , eventually you will get used to the racket regardless of specs, the only argument that I can make is that the constant restring process starts to fracture and degrade the racket over time, I try to change mine every 5 years (im 36 and have been playing since im 12)

    • @movdqa
      @movdqa Před 7 měsíci

      @@meinsouza Restringing a lot does have a big effect on the frame but I bought a bunch of them in 2011 and try to use them evenly. There are some minor differences in stiffness between them though as I don't track the number of restrings strictly.

    No one explained what the differences were between head sizes on the nCode vs current Pro Staff! Such as power, control etc. A flat beam racquet is more forgiving on shanked balls & plow through. Why did they stop making flat beam racquets??

    To me finding the perfect racquet has become more and more easy.
    Meanwhile I can buy a racquet without testing, which I did a year ago. I think I will keep it for quite a while, maybe as long as I can handle it. Or pass it on to my son as soon as he is ready for it.

    Wilson should re release the 6.1 95 Classic as a limited release. The same way they did with the PS 85. They'd sell a bunch of them to dinosaurs like me. Head is making hay re issuing some of their iconic older models like the PT Tour and the Prestige Classic.

    To make it easier for your victims, aka the coaches, maybe give them a standard list of closed ended questions. Open ended questions are hard for the coaches and I’m sure they have a lot more to say if the right questions are asked which Harry should be good at.

    The old racquets are way better than the new ones. I think the graphite that was used in the old ones was better, cause the feel is incomparable. Still using a pair of Babolat Pure Control Team of 2003. The feel and the plow through of this babes are awesome!

      Its worth noting that honestly not a lot has really improved in the last decade or so. Most models are just strung a little different and might have a different paint job but the frame is a design from 10 years ago. Tour pros use many older models and get them painted to match the new stuff out. Look at Rafas old pro drive from 05 or 06. Its basically the same as he uses now. Its very common. Old raquets are good. No question about it.
