  • Hi Everyone!
My name is Kristine and I am a nurse by heart and profession. I finished my BSN in the Philippines and 7 years ago, I moved to Canada. In this video, I would like to share my struggles/experiences as an International Educated Nurse in Canada and why did I ended up in US instead of Canada and How did I do it?
I will share with you several jobs that I tried before I actually was able to work as a RN here in US.
Let us inspire each other. I would love to hear your story as well. Feel free to share!
    Thank you for watching! Godbless!!

Grabe ate same talaga tayo ng mga dreams, personality, and attitude when it comes to school. Sobrang tagos talaga yung part na sinabe mo about us putting so much pressure on ourselves that we sometimes forget to celebrate our little achievements. Currently, I am one of the best in school naman when it comes to acads but I keep having the feeling that I’m not doing good enough. I was in Alberta at the time when you were trying to get in the program at MRU. Dahil sa taas ng demand at limited seats, I decided to leave the province and pursue my RN in Nova Scotia dahil ayoko umulit ng IELTS na kelangan by the time you apply for Alberta license. This wasn’t the case in the East Coast. Once you passed you pass no rewrites needed. Nung lumipat ako sa Halifax, most of us were from the Prairies. Halos marami taga Manitoba, isa from Saskatchewan at ako from Alberta. Among my HCA friends in Edmonton, isa lang naka pasok sa MRU almost 2 years after I left Alberta that translated to almost 2 years working already as Canadian RN at the largest hospital in Atlantic Canada. Dahil mahirap maka pasok sa MRU some of them moved to Seattle. After that, I discouraged people to apply in Alberta and process their RNs elsewhere. Fast forward, I moved to the States-my 4th big move in my adult life after Montreal, Edmonton & Halifax. Few of my classmates moved back to the Prairies but most of us remained in Nova Scotia kasi mild lang ang Winters dun. I feel you for trying to get an Alberta RN license we could have tagged you along with us at baka ngayon naka pag reciprocate kana sa Alberta but God has other plans for you.

Heard about you in the Philippines back in the day when you passed the NLE as a top notcher. I went to NEU nursing but didn’t finished and have to stop during my second year.
I do not have to take English classes tsaka IELTS kasi luckily yung adviser ko sa school naintindihan naman ako magsalita ng English. 🙌🏽 graduated when I was 30 years old with honors which kala ko di nako makakagraduate ever. I remember crying and envying lahat ng mga naging kaklase ko sa NEU tsaka OLFU.

I also want to share with you po na I'm supposed to take up BS Nursing in Canada, but of course sponsored by my aunt who's a dentist there. Unfortunately, hindi ko nalang tinuloy kasi nag try akong mag apply sa isang state university dito sa Cebu and luckily, I passed! I chose to not pursue college in Canada nalang because of a lot of reasons. Third, feeling ko mas maganda mag-aral sa isang environment na mas nae-express mo yung feelings and words mo such as studying in an environment where there's full of bisaya people like me. Ilang months ko din iniyakan at hiningi tong decision na 'to kasi nga magagandang opportunities ang dumating sakin that's why I'm overwhelmed. but still, I am grateful with all the blessings God has given to me😊 at paninindigan ko tong desisyon na to✨

Hi Annzene, thanks for your comment and for sharing your inspiring story. Don’t feel sorry for making a big decision for your self. I am so happy and proud of you, for making a big decision. I remember, na when I graduated, I was asked to choose between pursuing my dream to be a doctor or to move to Canada and be with my parents finally. Ofcourse I chose my family. Pero do what makes you happy. Do follow where your heart takes you. You can be a great nurse no matter where you are. I believe in youu. Thanks again! my instagram is inspire.believe_love . Godbless!!!

Hi Ester, naniniwala ako na with hardwork and perseverance, you can achieve anything! Kapag nahihirapan ka, just put more effort and time para aralin. If you go through a nursing school, ituturo nila sayo yung foundation na dapat mo malaman as entry level nurse. A good start? if interested ka tlaga, human anatomy. :)
