I like that this extended mix isn't just extending what was already in the song. Instead, there's brand new sections! In fact, the new section takes up most of this version. It's really nifty! The regular-length version is super catchy, and this allows me to appreciate it more.

remember skateing to this at my local rink when i was only 16 in woking the place is knocked down now went in the mid 80's we also had disco 's on a friday nights at same place every time i hear this fantastic song brings back just great memeries it was like the local meeting place for every teenager in the town they all flocked there back then if you were looking for a friend nine times out of ten you would find them at the rink oh such great times sadly kids don t have that conection nowadays all the old values have sadly gone i was lucky to have lived in those great times the 80's brilliant era
That's sad, I'm 12 years old and every time I hear about places or things in the 1980s or 1990s I wish I was born in that time so that I can see what it would be like and be at the fun places that I missed out on going too. That's sad that that place doesn't exist any more. Though I do wish there is something I can do instead of just play games inside. To me there's nothing to do outside that seems fun to me sadly.

Even though disco, which had all of those extended mixes on 12-inch records, was destroyed in 1979, newer pop/rock music, inspired by the already-destroyed disco craze, took advantage of their extended mixes as well. Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" extended mix was one of the songs that extended America's "EDM music history". I hear two synth sounds in the middle of the instrumental - the staccato Gs in the higher octave, and that long, drony G in the lower octave. When that low G eventually goes into its long glissando down to lowest part of the piano, this was the start of a new form of dance music---called first electro-industrial music, and then, new wave rock!!!!

Try Yazoo's Don't go 12".It's in the same class in my humble opinion so long as you have a good pair of floor-standers and a proper amp (100 watts plus a side) Used to get my house rattling way back when until my system decided to 'expire'.I am a bit of a sucker for a decent synth sound though!

it never ceases to amaze me how this songs and a few others from the 80's can invoke such a visceral response, music is incredibly effective in bring back such an awesome time. Not just in your life but time of era. There is no other time like the 80's, you either loved them or hated them but you remember them. Nostalgia, gotta love it.

it never ceases to amaze me how this songs and a few others from the 80's can invoke such a visceral response, music is incredibly effective in bring back such an awesome time. Not just in your life but time of era. There is no other time like the 80's, you either loved them or hated them but you remember them. Nostalgia, gotta love it.

I was in Toronto Canada when this hit was released. This song was played repeatedly in a disco called Heaven in downtown Toronto. Excellent mixed version. Glad to hear it again.

This song brings me back circa 82,Chicago baby!!!There use to be a club at 1347 s.Michigan called the PLAYGROUND and this song DEFFINETLY reminds me of it!!My school Kenwood and another school called Hyde Park basically dominated the place!!! LOL Good memories
