- the last of the Mayan Kings of Music, Florencio Mes lives in a small house in the San Pedro Columbia village in the Toledo District. He has been honoured 5 times by the government and cultural groups, he has traveled to Europe and performed before many people. He builds instruments, as well as playing them. Our discussion covered many things that day, many highs and many lows. The last one is, he has been almost forgotten about. He is asked to perform less and less these days as he gets older. A man with incredible talent that like so many others is living at the poverty level. A dear sweet man abused by people over the years.We felt honored to have met him and been given the opportunity to visit record and share some of his life ..
