This song is highly popular between the Arknights community cause it is the main song for 2 of the most popular characters in the game, their story is heartbreaking and the events in the game makes them possibly the most wanted playable characters for the game.
More like most popular NPCs, but yeah.
Also gonna be the main focus on the upcoming Arknights anime's 2nd arc.
Destiny 2 collab is a possibility, from how the world of Destiny works. Ace or Misha as well (unless they treat it like the R6 collab instead).

Serene... yeah that fits for Patriot. The man is two hundred years old, and far, far too many of them were as an active soldier. He has watched his life die, he killed his son ignorantly in the line of duty, and after finally finding a flash of happyness in the form of a new daughter (the bunnygirl who first shows up in the image) he ends up leading even her into a conflict that would claim her life. Never once did his path waver, though it did change indirection, never once did he doubt, though he had changed his mind. A patriot, absolute in conviction and entirely numb to hardship.
This is one of my favorite songs in arknights, if you know the story of the characters this song is unbelievably tragic. Marco also did a video on this song I recommend you check it out.
After going to bed that night i actually did remember a bunch of lore from one of the live concerts. In the moment somehow i didn't recall anything. I blame the ADHD 🫠
What's beautiful (and tragic) with Requiem is the lyrics. They come from a Russian poem of the same name written by Anna Akhmatova. It talks about the suffering of the people during the Great Purge. Which with Arknights tragic lore and associated characters, fits perfectly.

If you can imagine the pain Patriot (Buldrokkas'tee) must have felt when he lost not only his wife and his son, but his adopted daughter (Frostnova, as featured in the video) too, and in the very end, he lost his own life. He has nothing left, not even his very own life.

Requiem and Proshchaniye are two of my favorite songs to sing, I'm a big fan of minor keys and the sound of the Russian language
This is one of the most powerful songs in Ak for me along with Winter Absolution and the relatively newer Sentenced.
I guess to balance out all the sadness this one brought, Magic Theorem would be a good option for the next song in line.
It Alway brings the feeling of "Those freeze came from the unbounded snow storm eat up every single bone and clawing in your soul" Since the song dropped in 2020, serenity but ruthless and grief.😢

Ahh Requiem, a very pretty sad piece.
Arknights, oddly enough, has a couple of songs in Russian and almost all of them are pretty great, iirc all of the Russian songs are pretty sombre.

This is not a sad song it’s a tragedy that’s long passed and sadness is just what accompanies it.

Since you have come to this one, there're several good choices for the next video. Lullabye, and Прощание, both of which are also in Russian, the former one narratively related to Requiem. Besides, Winter Absolution is another stunning winter vibe song. Hope you like them.

Unfortunately the lyrics in the video aren't very good. There's a better translation in the comments of that video.
This song is inspired by Anna Akhmatova's "Requiem", which is basically about the time after World War 2 when people of Soviet Union were massively getting imprisoned in GULAGs, unfairly or not. And GULAGs are... well, you can imagine how horrible those places were.

I assume any inflection issues are more the result of singing and keeping his voice clear than anything, or if it's lyrical it's probably more that the composer isn't a speaker himself, but I'd hope there was a collaboration with Serge to fix any big issues 👀
@@CatharsisYT It's hard to describe what exactly is wrong. Pronunciation of individual words is mostly good, but there is an issue how words are connected into sentences (both in intonation and in morpheme use). Is is subtle and I do understand that I'm unfairly strict here, but it feels like an uncanny valley for me (except vocally, not visually). Russian singers just do it differently. Again, I have nothing against singers - Russian is a tricky language and it is probably even trickier singing in it for non natives.
P.S. After watching LotR rock opera Finrod-song for the first time I was checking one of the singer's (Святослав Беседин - Slavis Besedin) YT channel. He has some clips from Eugene Onegin opera staged somewhere in Austria and it was all sung wrong, except from the parts by Slavis or other Russian singers. >__
@@Fedorchik1536 i mentioned this comment in my discord and another Russian native said basically what you did. A mix of accent differences and the challenge of restructuring lyrics from a prewritten source to fit a musical context. With a bit of general "nobody who isn't native ever sounds QUITE right" haha
