Wow, rather premature to break in before it was confirmed. It wasn't as though it was a changing story, either he was dead or not. Seemed strange not to wait or just stay with the story until it was confirmed. Oh well, it's history now. Great clip, thanks for posting.

Nixon had already had a stroke, and the word was given that President Clinton was going to unexpectedly speak to the world...I say good call. They covered the story as it broke.

Wonder if they filmed the 20/20 desk segment earlier in the day or had Walters wear the same thing twice for consistency.

A lot of famous people die in 1994 Richard Nixon, Jackie Kennedy, Burt Lancaster, Henry Mancini, Erik Erickson, Dean Rusk, and Jessica Tandy. Any more famous celebrities that passed away in 1994?

@@Yobbie72 Yes, unless the sitting President and former Presidents are together, then it is "President Biden and former President Obama met today at President Biden's home in Vermont, where he allegedly took home secret documents, a violation of law. It's not known if the former President was party to this or did the same thing himself, or if they all do. Meanwhile, former President Trump is facing similar allegations, and met with former President Clinton to smoke marijuana. Sources tell us that Clinton did not inhale. Trump, it is said, had his with McDonald's and a Diet Coke. He did admit in a tweet that he did inhale, but is innocent of the charges he has been indicted on. As Florida does not allow recreational use of marijuana, there is a lynch mob of stoned liberals calling for him to be indicted on federal charges related to the marijuana." In the UK, it's always Mr Trump or President Biden/Mr Biden. Surname is never used alone by media. I prefer the second, as it is more objective.

Two observations: (1) Trump makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout. (2) I miss Peter Jennings and the objective reporting of the news. My takeaway from this commentary was not Watergate, but the contributions Nixon made in foreign policy and the love he felt for his wife and daughters.
