The river, to be clear, but yes, agreed. It's like he was trying to trick a 6 into folding, but why the hell would there be any X/6s left after that call on the flop? The only 6 that was still in after both that pre- and post-flop action was pocket 6s and they ALSO made quads.

Just a pure punt on the river…the 6 should’ve saved him. Any 9 or 6 beats him and I’d put my opponent on flipping trips since he kept check calling. With 3s full, kinda have to get to showdown without putting in more chips on a board like that

How was that 6 an action killer? What hands do you lose to? 99, 66? There are no suited 6's that would make the river. The only hands you would lose to are 9's 10'9s or 9'8s!

The drama! Prior to the flop, Francisco's breathing was relaxed and even. All the heavy breathing, the deep breath and the conflicted acting, should have told Nick L that Francisco hit the board somehow and that his 3s were worthless, ESPECIALLY after the 6s paired on the board. It may not have screamed quads, but it sure spoke to folding.

On this flop, pocket 3s is probably ahead like 1999 times out of 2000. (EDIT: I have no idea what the actual odds are, esp. if you're controlling for position, raise size, etc.)

Your odds of getting *any* pocket pair preflop are only 1/16, which means having specifically pocket 9s is 1/14th of *that*, so 1/224. Now what I was alluding to in my original comment is, what are the odds that your opponent has pocket nines on that flop? It depends on how you calculate it - are you including the removal effect of the 9s on board? Are you taking into account the range of hands that would play here, or all hand combinations? It's not an easy question to answer, but it is definitely a lot more than 19/20!

FH losing to quads is not super special. Any paired board has this potential baked into it. Both were aware of it (presumably). What was fun with this hand were also the two flushes in play after the turn. And then the river potentially counterfeiting someone. A super meaty hand with a lot moving parts throughout. About as fun as it gets when you have the nuts. Except the demand for an obligatory check on the (flush busting, counterfeiting) river...which was the proper play. But of course that induces a shit ton of stress. You're nutted and yet the game insists you sweat a failure to extract max value. It's never (rarely) just a walk in the park.

I flopped quad 7777, but fold river face up. Flop was 77A, turn was A, river was A ...I absolutely knew he had big slick!
