    Wondering what the heck this "air mode" thing is, what it ACTUALLY does, and why it matters? I know I was! In this video I'll show you an example of airmode in action, and what the practical applications are for it!
    This is the radio I use www.banggood.com/custlink/3vv...
    BTW, in case you are just jumping in to RC flight, the different flight modes I make reference to are some of the optional modes used in controlling our RC quadcopters (AKA miniquad / freestyle / racing "drones"), which are accessed and customized by connecting the quadcopter flight controller (brain) to a computer and using a downloadable application called a "configurator" (most commonly Betaflight) to adjust the various flight settings.

    Airmode actually keeps the pid loop active at zero throttle, it keeps the props spinning so you don't just drop out of the sky. Airmode allows you too stay inverted without falling uncontrollabley

    • @baadlyrics8705
      @baadlyrics8705 Před rokem +2

      What? Why does this comment even have 12 likes when its wrong. Acromode absolutely doesnt just turn off the motors when throttle is at zero. Like never, theres always like at least 3-7% power when throttle at zero. So what youre saying isnt the difference between acro and air. The difference is that in acro at zero throttle when falling all motors will be spinning at the same speed on the designated minimum motor speed of about 5% or whatever is chosen (when not giving any input). In air mode the props wont all spin at the same speed but rather on didferent speed, also never lower than the minimum motor speed of 5% or whatever is set bc they will compensate for any outside force acting on the quad with the goal of keeping it at a constant angle. So to be clear, both modes keep the motors spinning at zero throttle input, but airmode uses stabilization to keep the angle and acro doesnt

      @@baadlyrics8705 go and fly without airmode on, take it in the air and drop too zero throttle. The quad will drop out of the sky!

    • @neilbaquiran643
      @neilbaquiran643 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@Originaljonny2badwhat his saying is both airmode and acro mode will keep the motors spinning at a set power. Air mode doesnt keep your drone up in the air the way you think. In acro the drone will drop out of the sky with no correction , air mode will try and keep your last position "orientation wise" . The only reason you might think your drone might be a lil more floaty in airmode is because when your drone is falling out of the air, the flight controller tries to keep he last orrientation that was set. Say your drone is top heavy and tends to lean to the right when free falling, the flight controller will try to fight that force to stay in the orientation it was set. Say your roll to the right a bit and your drone is top heavy, without airmode your drone will simply just roll uncontrollably while in airmode , it actively tries to keep that orientation

I decided just to go with it the second flight and I personally find it much easier diving straight into the goggles and airmode. I was doing flips into rolls and freefalls straight away only crashed once due to pushing past my abilities rather than no control

      So did you determine it to run better or worse with airmode?

    • @christhorney
      @christhorney Před rokem

      @@maridkamuju9316 i know its an old comment but i thought id answer you, airmode on a tiny whoop should not be enabled unless your flying in open air outside with nothing to hit, its so much better with airmode off on a whoop because it will actually bump off of things without having a spaz and crashing, just if you take it outside and do punch outs with airmode off on a whoop then it gets very very wobbly coming down, and can get caught in its own dirty air and flip out of the sky, but for bigger quads where your outside punching out and stuff its much more fun and precise with airmode on, just if you start to crash you need to disarm straight away often missing a chance where if airmode was off you could have recovered, but its good to try both so you get a feeling for what it does and when its useful and when you should have it off, because you might find the freefall effect more fun for your flying style as you pop over objects and kinda drunkenly freefall it is really fun, but if you do a lot of punch outs then it can get rreallly sketchy sometimes if its gusty or you get into your propwash, but if you feed in like 10% throttle you get rid of a lot of the sketchyness, but sometimes you want less throttle, moral of the story, just try both, and give them both a good amount of time to feel out how they are different from eachother

      Hi! Good question! It shouldn't. I think a lot of people use that same technique (being able to turn off air mode). Really, if you can land gently it's not a problem, but I think that would be useful if you're just starting to learn how to fly (and land).

      RCwithAdam I mean in 2:59, at the same time that you cut the throttle, i see some oscillation. I notice this effect in my quad, too. But I think that it makes this effect since I mounted the action cam. It could be the added weight of the hd cam. Perhaps increasing the minimum throttle in Betaflight, it could be solved. I have to try to remove the action cam. Thanks

      There is no "nothing". You have to be in some kind of mode. Its like asking "what is the difference between an automatic gearmode car and a nothing gearmode car. There always is some kind of mode on and acromode is essentially the mode where you completely control the quad yourself without any assistance from the quad like self leveling etc.

    Arm mode is Acro isn't it

    • @RCwithAdam1
      @RCwithAdam1  Před 4 lety

      Hi! No. "Arming" just means allowing the throttle to work. "Acro" is a type of flight mode that means you have the ability to move the quad any way you want and do flips and rolls (think "acrobatic").
