I don't know, I never liked her for the role, because, 1. she doesn't have the right look for Belle she doesn't look romantic, with the soft, round features that Disney princesses are known for. She has very angular, somewhat and androgynous facial features. Which makes for a stunning modern day beauty, but not one that lived long ago and far away. 2. She had way too much control over her character, she changed it so Belle is the inventor and her dad just makes music boxes. Look I consider myself as much a feminist as anyone one but no, just no. Maurice being the inventor in the original was to show how his weird inventions made everyone in town think he was already crazy. Which made it easier for Gaston to convince the hospital to have him committed. Not to mention she turned one of the most beautiful dresses in disney movie history into a plain looking prom dress you could get off the rack at JCPenny. 3. Her singing, she is auto tuned to death, if you couldn't tell in the trailer, listen to the soundtrack on iTunes, it's cringy af. 4. Her acting, I haven't seen her beyond the trailer and I know she has been good in other things,, but she barely cracks a smile and looks either bored or angry, she looks bored in a freakin' enchanted castle! Like when the Beast asks to see her in the mirror and she looks like she just sucked on a lemon. In the original she was still upset but she was also kind and brave and when the Beast saw her he felt hopeful, I don't see how looking at a girl scowling would translate to true love.
The phantom is the absolute best movie, play, and soundtrack ever. But I only like the 2004. (The one with Emmy and Gerard Butler.) They make the best phantom and Christine. I don't care for the original London cast or the 25th anniversary. But Emmy and Gerard are perfect in Every way.
