Angie I learned today to put contact paper on your felt before putting onto the pink fabric mat then stick that to the mat. This way the felt doesn't have to touch the mat at all! 😄
I saw a tip that using baby wipes to clean the mats (not the fabric mat) works. When I tried this I was very pleased with the outcome. I just rubbed the baby wipe gently over the mat several times until I could see the debris coming off, and let it dry for a few minutes. My mats were cleaner and sticky again!
Ooo what an ace idea re the fabric grip mat, I've never seen anyone suggest using transfer tape before 😍
Thank you so much for the helpful information. Especially for the pink mat. I have been using baby wipes to clean my mats. Mainly the green and blue mats. It works really well. I haven't used the fabric mat yet. I'm very glad to have the information for when I do.
Lot’s of great tips and tricks! I’ll have to let you know how they work out for me 😊
baby wipes works wonders also dawn dish soap0 scraper and rinse let dry
Thank you 😊
Thanks, I'll have to try this. All the other ways I've tried haven't worked.
thank you Angie great video, thank you for the great tips really enjoying your video's, also enjoying the Country Chic Cottage thank you for all that you do its really appreciate! Hugs Liz x
Thanks so much!
I've used packing tape to clean my fabric mat. Works reasonably well and is cheap
That is a good idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
Great video. Simple (easy to understand). I have not tried it yet but will know what to do when I need to clean my mats! Thanks.
Thanks for the tips! Best way yet
Happy to help!
Another great video and informative…
Glad you think so!
Just discovered you. Like your explanation of cleaning the mats. Looking forward to other videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for this info
No problem!
Awesome
Thank you SSSOOOO much for the info!!!
Any time!
I"d probably be rich if I could only invent a new product-"Cicut Mat Cleaner Machine!" I hate cleaning mats, but these are fabulous tips for when I do!!!😆😆😆😆
I keep unused ones clean by sticking them to each other. It makes a nice portable work surface too.
That's what I do to mines. You could tape around the mat and spray it light glue spray any brand but the light one.
I haven't tried to wash my mats yet, so thank you for those tips!! But, I have used 2-Way Glue Jumbo Broad Tip Pen by Recollections™ (Michaels stores) to help my green mat become sticky again -- it worked pretty well and allowed me to use the mat for a much longer time!! Thought I'd pass that along to let others know...
I have a friend that uses a little soapy water to clean them, then sprays them with spray adhesive. I tried it, it works very well.
I do the same. Either repositionable spray adhesive or a Zig 2 Way Glue Pen. The glue pen is easier to apply but it can end up being almost too sticky.
I have had zero luck with adding new adhesive!
you do a great job, Angie, but you really need two cameras. One looking down on your work surface. This one would have been better looking down as you clean the matte. It's easy, just set up both cameras, film the entire episode on each camera, and then just edit them together with your sound track.
Sometimes I use two cameras! This one is pretty old so I did them completely different. I do know how to edit them together.
I read the reply's and saw my idea suggested about using some type of spray tack glue I an new to using the Cricut and have not as of yet tried cleaning a mat but I think that a spray mounting glue like you would use when doing stencil work might be a way to add back some stick to the mats. if I try this I will be sure to post a note about if it works. have any of you tried this idea?
I have never had any luck with it! It always turns out a mess.
I clean mine with Dawn dish soap and a scrub daddy.
Any thoughts on cleaning the card mat for the Joy? Help please
I would clean it the same way.
Angie, I have a lot of mats that have cut marks all over them. Can I just put a sheet of sticker paper over it, turn it over and spray repositional glue or 2 way glue and so use the back side of the mat?
I just use them with the cut marks! I haven't had any luck with any repositionable glue. I have tried a few times and it never works right.
Is there a wrong and right side to the mat covers? Thanks.
No there is not.
Can you use a lint brush?
it doesn’t do much.
When the stick is gone from the mats can you use them for a cutting mat??
Sure.
Do you ever use a "tacky spray" to get the mats resticky?.
I do not. I find that the adhesive doesn't work well and just cleaning them is the best bet.
can you use a plastic scrub ball?
I haven't tried it so not sure.
When your mat has lots of repetitive cut marks in it will washing the mat not work anymore? Is that when it’s time to replace? Thanks
I usually keep trying until it just doesn't stick anymore even after washing. I mean it costs you nothing but a few minutes to try it!
How often is it recommended to clean your mats?
I just clean when I am having issues with them sticking.
I've lost my mat plastic cover, what are some options? i was uing a transfer tape but its so sticky to remove
I have never tried anything else! Wondering if freezer paper would work? Shiny side against the mat.
Angie Holden thanks, willing to try it. My mat is clean but uncovered.
I understand that dollar store clear plastic shower curtains are a good substitute.
I was told you can use dollar tree or dollar shower curtain/liner. Yes you have to cut it but $1 will also work for replacing it
How do you clean the "card" mats?
Same way as I have shown for these mats.
Hi Angie! As usual, I try to peruse other videos but they're just NOT...you.
I don't like it as well on anything but the fabric grip mat but you can try it!
My mat is not even a month old and I got cat hair on it. How do I remove that? I was told not to clean my mat until my one year warranty was up. Any suggestions?
You can clean your mat at any time. That has nothing to do with the warranty.
do you wash the clear mat covers too?
I don’t but you can if they are dirty.
Is a brayer better than the "squeegee" or are they for different materials?
Two different things! Try this: czcams.com/video/EsK_4Too0OU/video.html
