  • This Gentle Lesson to Relieve Lower Back Pain and sciatica at home. Annie Thoe is a Feldenkrais Teacher, Assistant Trainer of Feldenkrais Method and Nature awareness teacher. She will help you align your back and hips using the Feldenkrais Method®, a neurological sensory movement method. Improve how your leg is "seated" into the hip socket, coordinate your upper back to reduce muscle tension and reduce back spasms in your lumbar and sacral area by improving the overall organization of how you use your back. DO NOT STRETCH or force any movements. Remarkable effective results in just 10 minutes! This lesson is different from "exercise" or stretching. If it is difficult to reach your knee, use a dishtowel or hand towel to extend your reach in this lesson. *** IF YOU HAVE NERVE PAIN in your neck, be sure to make small movements with your shoulders that do not pull on your neck. If you cannot do small enough movements, do not continue this lesson. For more in-depth lessons, see www.sensingvitality.com or my Patreon page with over 100 video lessons. When you improve your alignment and the way you move, the results are immediate and long-lasting.

    A friend said she’s done the movements before but never with her shoulders in mind! So...she’ll do it “ forever” your way. Now I’m going to do it to! Many MANY thanks to you!

      That's good. Yes, go gently. I have an entire video back series on my Patreon site you can check out bit.ly/SensingVitalityPatreon -- as well as longer lessons in audio form. Definitely go gently and check out the other back lessons I have in my Low Back playlist on CZcams.

    Rest-Slow-Small are definitely the key words. I JUST completed this, pausing your video all along the way. Keeping what I have to say short, I made discoveries I haven’t figured out for years!

    Done it! less is more! I have recently been to 4 different therapists - one vibrating plate - the other was a personal trainer and the other 2 are physiotherapists - and all of them absolutely annihilate my body thinking that I need to do really hard exercise at the age of 58 with hypermobility and a back and neck injury from the overzealous exercises they forced me to do. When they explain over you in army style bellowing instructions - it makes me wonder what kind of training they’ve had re progressive re hab - and whether or not they need to go for some therapy themselves to calm down because they are injuring people. I was in so much pain last time I could hardly walk and I told the therapist this time you completely ignored me and carried on with an even hard exercise as if I was being lazy. cause it’s on the national health service to a private contractor I’m not sure what to do because I can’t phone the head of the department because it’s only him. This is what happens when the government contract out NHS services to people who are not properly trained through the care system. I think I might phone up and asked to be transferred to an osteopath because my back is stuck after these exercises with the physiotherapist. At least this Feldenkrais help to release my back and now the pain is much less thank you!

    Dear Annie Thoe, I am grateful I found you online. I have followed your classes for 3-4 weeks now and I’ve taken your suggestion of finding a professional. After our first meeting, I’m confident I have found a qualified and excellent fit for me. I’ve also turned on 3 more people to your site. You are an excellent teacher with a beautiful voice and gentle wit. Thank you thank you thank you.

    I got a very random and sudden lower back injury just from standing up wrong and causing a jolt. That was two days ago and I haven't been able to get in to a doctor yet. I watched this and tried one session and I'm already feeling relief in my lower back. I'll still see my doctor to pin point the problem, but this technique will surely help me along the way.

    Hi Annie Thoe, I would like to thank you for your video series. This one in particular may have literally saved my life. In the sense that I stumbled across it and it allowed me to finish major summer manual labor projects this year. I've had spondylosis since I was in my thirties, so you know the deal. :-) Ironically, you outperformed Veterans Affairs doctors, U.S. military doctors, and German doctors. I've constantly asked, "Okay, spine arthritis. How do I work around it?" You fixed my problem and I appreciate it. Now. I've been looking for your coccyx problem-solving videos, but can't seem to find them. I'll continue to look .... (I like watching your other videos, too.) Respectfully, a U.S. veteran.

      @SensingVitality  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Rick, Thanks so much for your glowing praise! I'm glad to hear this helped you. These lessons I've created for back relief come from my own explorations after injury and many years with clients. The coccyx-- (more on my Playlist for the Back) I have a series on my Patreon Channel that works with side to side movements from the salmon series that works with the tailbone and is quite liberating for the coccyx. It's hard to make a short video from some of these longer class lessons (they are often 30 minutes)-- if you email me directly, I send you a link to one of the salmon classes. You can email me from my contact form on my website: www.sensingvitality.com

      @@SensingVitality No need to respond to all my posts, by the way. I know I write too much. :-) I thought about what I wrote about being happy you fixed your ailment, and realized I wrote it because I have a friend who is in the process of doing the same thing: Fixing his ailment with a combination of medical care and "self-help." Quotation marks because he researched and sought out Kundalini yoga (not for everyone, I know) for his PTSD and will soon start teaching the yoga (in addition to other peer-support programmatic techniques as a new career). A DUI probably literally saved his life (ton of naysayers out there, but I think it did). He subsequently dried out at The Klink (VA Clinic) and did/is doing the above. I'll write about in general terms someday. Think I'll also tell him he should go the CZcams route like you did (you are one powerful lady!). Anyway. :-) Thanks again. I'm headed to your site to email.

      As your awareness of your skeletal alignment gets clearer, your body will move and hold the alignment more effectively. So, you may need to repeat this lesson a few times to improve your awareness and/or work with some of my other videos or audio lesson series to help stabilize the new movements pattern-- just like improving your skiing, tennis form or anything else that requires finer coordination.

    Will this help heirnated discs

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  Před rokem

      This can help, But-- it depends on the herniation and the awareness you are using as you do these movements. Herniation can often mean there is a laxity in the joint now (from the ligament being torn that supports the bones alignment ). In addition to alignment lessons, some kind of gentle toning within the alignment helps you move in an aligned and stable way. Many back exercises work in a larger/grosser alignment and don't work with the finer details of aligning the whole skeletal system. The difference is awareness-- going slowly, gently so your body finds a neutral and efficient core support.

    Is it ok for someone who has had a hip replacement to do this?

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  Před rokem

      Yes-- this is a very gentle series of movements which keeps your hip joint in a fairly neutral position so can be done after a hip replacement. If your hip range of motion after surgery doesn't allow you to reach your knee yet, you can take a t-shirt and use like a strap around the front of your knee to pull gently with the one hand - Like in my Seal lesson for warming up back - another great lesson for back and hips czcams.com/video/okPyTxdndak/video.html
