  • How to decoupage a dresser! to purchase paint visit my store! debisdesigndiar... I really appreciate your business.This project was inspired by a hand-painted dresser I saw on Pinterest. Then my friend Lori from the Velvet Glove created a beautiful decoupaged dresser and I decided to create my own version. I used a $7 poster from Michaels Craft store and a thrift store dresser.
    If you want to make a similar project, there are many tips and tricks that I learned in the process on my blog. I highly recommend reading my post so you don't make the same mistakes that I made.

    I think it worked out that your first attempt didn't go quite as planned, because cutting her silhouette out of the poster instead of having the background with it looks even more amazing. Great job!

      One method of pasting paper to another surface is to apply paste to the paper and also to the surface you are applying it to. This equalizes the shrinkage on the applique and the surface. It was something I learned in creative process when taking art classes and it works nicely.

    • @robicarm
      @robicarm Před 9 lety

      I forgot to mention that when you get the applique on take a clean piece of paper and place it on top of the applique and smooth it out, but always use a clean piece each time you are done with each section so that you are not contaminating untouched surface with glue from another section. Its a little time consuming but it will look good and clean, if that is what you want, and nothing from the ink or poster will lift up or shift around.

    What I love most about this video is that she has the humility and authenticity to show her mistakes on camera. So many times, you watch these DIY projects on TV shows or online and they make you fearful of trying it yourself. You think, "Well, yeah, if I had a five person team of ex Martha Stewart staffers, I could do this! Otherwise, I doubt it!" But, you're shown here than you can make a mistake and recover from it with beautiful results. So, I really appreciate this video.

    Loved the finished results...I have had much success with decopage by relaxing the paper first in a bath of water. Put glue on surface...drip off excess water and then place it on furniture. Brayer or sqeegy works well to smooth out, just be careful because the paper is more fragile when it is relaxed.

    Coming from someone who has watched 20+ videos on how to do this.... This is by far the best and most informative! I also am obsessed with this idea (and my bedroom is all marilyn with silver and crystal furniture. 🤔🤔🤔) But for real THANK YOU!

I have a BUNCH of tissue paper that is black and white with his tattoos all over and I want to make that my shelves that run in the middle of my vanity (it's painted pearl, with black hardware and the chair is pearl and royal blue) so im nervous as frack BC im pretty sure I have JUST ENOUGH paper for both shelves. 😬😬 This video has seriously helped me out though really!!!! Jerika Baldwin I bet it came out beautiful! Since I read your comment 2 months ago, I’ve seen people selling that same tissue paper on Poshmark. Every time I see some for sale, I think about buying it but honestly I’m not there in my life yet. I’m in the decluttering what I don’t need, making a home for things I do need and teaching myself good habits to keep my house clean phase right now. I’ve been at it for almost a year. I should be able to start the fun stuff in the new year though! Otherwise I would have been on hoarders in 20 years!
